Okay, I've been playing piccolo for several weeks now, and I've had it up to here with the spit. Every time I play, it takes like twenty minutes for the thing to practically fill up with spit and it usually affects my sound. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have a solution? If you're having your own piccolo problems, feel free to post here and we can work on solving those too.

Glad I'm not the only one who's had this problem. I was beginning to think I was doing something wrong. I've considered putting a pipe cleaner in my case and sticking it throught the pic whenever I thought there was too much spit, but I haven't actually tried that yet...

How is that happening? Do you have band right after lunch? Do you eat or drink during practice? Try to avoid that. Also, make sure you warm up your instrument by blowing through it before you put it up and play. It's also possible that the pads have gotten waterlogged and expanded so the openings are too small and that's how they get spit bubbles. That needs a trip to the repair shop. How's your horn angle? Keep it pretty much level and not too much higher.

see now i have that problem with my regular flute and not in my other flutes...i play the whole flute family so... but when playing the piccalo (sp?) i rarely get spit in there...but you reallly shouldnt be getting spit in there since you have to have a small whole with your lips, then also swallo more often when ever you can so you can get all of the excess out...like the person befre me said..never eat or drink anything but water at least 30 minutes before playing if you can help it, you mouth still dissolves the left over food in your mouth...nasty....
