Why hello! Nice of you to drop by *smiles* Here's a story that's been in the works... one of the many storied I've got that is actually written down *sweatdrop* Anywho, I hope that someone gets some enjoyment out of this and any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Edit 6-28: while looking through some of my written work, I realize all of the errors that I had, so here's some clean up and a new chapter. I'll look over this again and correct this again later. Enjoy!

Broken-Feathers
The scream of the alarm clock echoed throughout the room. Reluctant in getting up, Aki turned onto his other side, groaned, and began swinging wildly for the object causing his subtle headache. Once silence spread across the tiny room, Aki turned onto his stomach and murmured, ‘Nine more minutes,’ into his pillow as he started to fall asleep once more.

The constant screaming continued to drone on. Aki muttered a string of curses as he turned to read the numbers on the clock displayed in red after slamming down the snooze button. His eyes widen as he read over again the numbers clearly displaying seven forty-five. He bolted out of bed, shouting more curses as he sprinted to the bathroom to get ready for yet another hellish day in school.

Sporting only a towel around his thin waste, Aki wiped steam off the mirror of the cabinet and leaned in close, unable to see his reflection at a distance. Big pastel-green eyes peered back at the boy with dark circles around them. The figure’s brown hair was darken and dripping, a result from the quick shower. Aki closed his eyes and sighed, shaking off some of the water still in his hair, and walked back into the single bedroom.
Reaching over to the small table near his bed, Aki retrieved a pair of black flamed glasses and crammed them onto his face. Taking a few steps toward his closet, he dug through the contents for an outfit. Finding what he was looking for, he slammed the closet door shut and slipped into a pair of black jeans and tank top, both fitting comfortably upon his frame, a pair of light green fuzzy socks, and an olive green sweater a few sizes too big, showing off his shoulders. He walked out of the room and fetched his bag and keys from the living room. After struggling with a pair of black boots, he busted through the apartment’s entrance, locked up after him, and hurried out of the building.
‘How can I be so stupid?! Yeah, nine more minutes my a**!’ Aki cried out, earning a couple of glares and confused looks from people passing by. Continuing his quick pace, he started thinking up excuses to get himself out of yet another one of Kohaku-sensei’s lectures. ‘Dammit! Why the hell is he so concerned about me anyway? It’s not like it’s his problem that I am late,’ he thought while dodging people and traffic, ‘He has other people in class to worry about. Nosy b*****d... Why me?!’ The shear thought unwillingly brought a slight coloring to his pale face.
Still a couple blocks away from the school, Aki caught sight of a cluster of feathers floating down toward the ground from the sky. His pace began to slow, finding himself dumbfounded by the sight. There was no one on the streets in the area; class was probably in session already.
Something inside him pulled him toward the falling object; something wanted him to catch it no matter what. His legs pulled him into a run. He planted himself under the feather cluster; his arms stretched out to catch whatever it was that was falling above him. He was a bit frightened by the lack of control he had over the situation.
Slowly the ball of feathers fell into Aki’s arms. Feathers began to disperse and evaporate as the object touched him, leaving a person in strange clothing lying in his arms unconscious.

Broken- Unexpected Guest
After settling into Aki’s arms, the person’s weight had bore onto his arms causing Aki’s knees to buckle under the strain of keeping a hold of the stranger. Gritting his teeth, Aki set the stranger down onto the concrete ground; the stranger remained in a deep sleep. Aki began examining the form lying in front of him as he tried to figure out some plan of action he could take. He was taken aback by the appearance of what he then knew was a boy. He was a boy who possessed more beauty than any woman he had ever seen in his lifetime. The boy had a long sleek mane of onyx, long eyelashes, silk ivory skin, ‘...his lips...a soft pink...’ Aki leaned closer to the sleeping boy’s face in a breathless trance. His face flushed as his lips neared the stranger’s. Something within himself snapped him out of his daze, and blinked a couple of times after coming to. After realizing how close he was to the boy, he tripped over himself trying to gain a bit of distance, flustered and blushing madly. He shook his head trying to rid himself of the thought and taking a deep breath, he came back to the stranger’s side.
‘What strange clothing...’ he thought as he glanced over the boy’s attire, obviously changing the subject of thought. The boy loosely wore a silk white kimono with long black sleeves attached by a single buckle; the bottom shredded in what he thought might have been in some fashionable matter. Underneath it seemed that he had on a black sleeveless turtleneck and black slacks, both hugging closely to his body. Around his neck was some sort of collar and on his wrists and ankles bore shackles; his feet were bare. Aki’s face started to color once again, so he quickly turned away. He knew he had to take the stranger somewhere, and being one without many people to rely on, the only place he figured to take the boy was back to his apartment. Sighing, Aki faces the boy and pulls up the stranger, wrapping an arm around his back and under the boy’s arm. Holding the boy’s other arm over his shoulders, Aki half dragged, half carried the unconscious boy back to his apartment building. Not a single person on the way paid any notice to the strange couple.
Entering the apartment building, Aki thought, ‘What the hell? Half the people around here are nosy-a** bastards who’d kill to know anything strange happening in the area... I’m surprised none of them said anything... Is it really that early?’ Aki shook the thoughts away, ‘I really don’t have the time to be concerned about that...’ He sat the stranger down by the door of his apartment, free to retrieve his keys from his bag. The lock clicked, Aki let the door swing open as he went to get his unexpected guest from the hallway. A sigh slipped from his lips, ‘I wish this guy would wake up already...’ He lifted the stranger into his arms, figuring that the distance from there to his bedroom wasn’t that far and it would be much easier to put the guy down that way. The stranger let out a slight groan as he buried his face into Aki’s chest. Flustered, Aki quickly made his way to his room to lay the boy down on the bed and flew right out into the living room.
‘What the hell was that about?!’ he thought, trying to calm himself down a bit, ‘...he was asleep. That’s right! Asleep! It was nothing at all! Nothing at all.’ He sighed in relief and shook his head, ‘I gotta call teach. Obviously all plans of actually going to school today are shattered. Not that I’m disappointed.’ He laughed while making his way to the phone, thinking up more excuses to satisfy the overly concerned man.
After dialing, Aki waited. Not much after the first ring did he hear a voice with a mixture of anger and concern.
‘Hikari-kun? Where on earth are you?!’
‘The hell did he know?’ Aki coughed and spoke to the man on the other end in a crackled voice, ‘Hey teach, I’m not feeling that good so... bye!’
The voice coming through the phone growled, ‘Hikari, don’t you dare hang up that phone! Aki! Damn-‘ Aki set the phone back onto the receiver and took the cord out of the phone jack. Letting out another sigh, he went to check on the sleeping boy. ‘Still asleep, eh? Well since it seems like I’m not going anywhere today, I may as well do the same... I could really use the shuteye...’ He yawned and dragged his tired body back into the living room. Making himself comfortable on the couch, he closed his eyes and slipped away into a sweet darkness.

Nice chapters! I like your character Aki; he has a touch of realism to him that is sometimes hard to come by. I hope we’re going to get some more background about him in the next chapters. He sounds like he has a story of his own to tell. All in all, it sounds interesting. I can’t wait to read more.
This would be a good time to mention that I do proofreading for my friends (we’re all a buncha writers too). If you’d like, I could read over your chapters and give you feedback. (This offer extends to any other writers who might be reading this thread, too. Just PM me.)

Broken Chapter 3: Awake
Long lashes lifted from their resting place, revealing dazed, blood red eyes. The boy slowly blinked the sleep from his eyes, a panic soon overtaking him.
“Yoru! Yoru! Where are you, Yoru?” the boy cried as he sat up, “I don’t know this place. Where am I? Yoru?!”
‘Quit your cryin’. You’re givin’ me a headache,’ a voice muttered in aggravation, ‘Protectin’ your silly a** ain’t that easy, Reimei… Speakin’ of which, you seemed a bit heavier. Did you ga-‘
“But Yoru! I don’t recognize this place at all! It’s nothing like Home.”
‘It’s because we’re nowhere near Home, du-‘
“Then where are we? I don’t remember coming here…”
‘Course not, stupid! You were unconscious the whole time. If you can just shut your mouth and listen for once, I will be able to explain the situation,’ anger rose in the voice heard only by the boy.
“But… what if it’s worse here? …I’m scared, Yoru. Why aren’t you here with me?”
The voice sighed, ‘Dammit… Relax already. I exhausted myself keeping you safe, so I can’t be there right now, but I am always here. You know that. I won’t let anything bad happen to you. No matter what.’
Reimei lowered his head, “I’m… sorry…”
‘Enough of that crap! Just listen to me. We should be safe right now, so there is no need to worry about that.’
“But how-“
‘BECAUSE, it was top priority to make sure you landed safely from the fall-‘
“What fall?!”
‘You fell from Home.’
“But, how?”
‘I don’t know! All I remember is feeling that you were in danger and knowing that I had to transport you to a safe location.’
“How do you know this place is safe? Do you even know where we are at?”
‘No, I don’t know where this place is, but I do know that we’re safe. Why do you doubt me like this?’
Reimei pulled his knees up to his chest, resting his head upon them, “I… don’t know. Things only seem to be getting worse for us, Yoru. I just don’t know what to do anymore…”
‘Hey. Don’t beat down on yourself like this. We’re gonna be alright.’
“I hope so… I hate feeling like this.”
‘I know. I’m sorry, Rei-chan, but big brother needs his rest.’
“Big brother?”
‘Hey, I’m more like a big brother than you, brat. Light or dark.’
“…rest well, Yoru.”
‘…mm…be careful…’
Reimei sighed. Barely grasping the situation, he lifted his head. The room was quiet small. The walls were painted an off-white color, and a window sat near the bed, covered by heavy, maroon curtains. Behind him was the door to possibly a closet, given the door was smaller than the one to his left. The only objects in there was the bed he sat on covered in black and olive colored sheets, blankets, and a pillow, and a small wooden table with a single drawer, and an alarm clock and lamp on top. ‘It’s… so plain…’ the boy thought as he placed his feet onto the cold, wooden floor. Shivers ran up his spine as the heat from the warm bed seeped away. Reimei looked back and threw one of the blankets over his shoulders before leaving the room.
The next room was slightly bigger with the same off-white walls and wooden floors. Static played quietly from the stereo sitting on the floor to the left, near the entrance of what seemed to be the kitchen. There was a coffee table surrounded by a few seat mats in the middle of the room, the table cluttered with books, paper, and various writing instrument. A rather large, brown, old couch lied diagonally in the corner to the boy’s right, something upon it moved. Taking notice, Reimei cautiously walked over to check it out.
“It’s a boy,” he whispered, trying not to disturb the boy sleeping restlessly. He knelt down by him, stretching out a hand to stroke the hair on the boy’s head, “Did you… save me?” The boy started moving again, Reimei quickly took his hand away. Groaning, the sleeping boy’s face looked troubled. “A nightmare?” Reimei smiled sadly at the boy, “Well, this is the least I can do for you.” He whispered a few words into the boy’s ear and brushed his lips lightly against his forehead. The boy’s tense body began to relax, bring Reimei a sense of relief. He laid the blanket he took from the bedroom over the boy and once again started stroking his hair idly, falling asleep moments after.

Broken~ Othello
Aki opened his eyes, his face inches away from the dark-haired boy’s. He shot up; the boy readjusted himself and continued to sleep. ‘That boy…yeah! That’s the boy from earlier. When did he wake up?’ Aki pushed some of the hair from the boy’s face.
“You’re awake. Finally.”
Aki’s glance shot up at a white-haired boy with piercing green eyes sitting at the small table. He wore the same outfit the other boy did except the coloring was opposite. “So, you are our savior?”
Aki furrowed his eyebrows, “I didn’t know that-“
“I am always with Reimei. By the way, my name is Yoru,” the white-haired boy bowed slightly, “May I ask the name of our savior?”
“Ahh…” Aki looked down in discomfort, “M-my name is Hikari Akito. Please, call me Aki.” He did a quick bow.
“Ok, Aki-sama”
“No, please! Aki is just fine!”
Yoru gave the flustered boy a strange look, “Alright. Aki-san, I have a request to ask of you.”
“Y-yes?”
“Please look after my brother.”
Aki tilted his head, “Sure? I didn’t think that you had a place to stay considering…”
Yoru laughed, “Yeah, sorry ‘bout that. I was kinda pushed for time so I had to do what I had to do to protect him.”
“I…see… Ummm… You are welcomed here as long as you need. I am the only one who lives here, so there shouldn’t be any problems.” Aki bowed once more, “But…”
Yoru smiled, ”We are Othello, people of the skies. One being seen as two. My brother beside you is my light brother. I am the dark.”
“What do you mean? Light and dark? One seen as two? People of the skies?”
“Perhaps we shall speak together like this again some time.”
“Uh?”
The dark-haired boy began to stir. “Yoru?” His dazed eyes locked onto Aki’s. “Oh! Ah… umm…”
“Don’t you worry, Reimei. This is Hikari Akito. Thank him.”
“Ah! That’s right!” He jumped into a standing position, “Sorry! Thank you very much for saving us, Hikari Akito-sama. I am forever in your debt. My name is Reimei.” He bowed deeply.
Aki blushed in embarrassment, “It was nothing, really. Please, call me Aki.” He scratched the back of his head.
“Yes” Reimei quickly glanced back at Yoru, “umm… Aki-san.”
An odd silence took up the room for a few moments before Aki removed the blanket covering his lower half and stood up. “You guy haven’t had anything to eat in a while, have you?” Both the boy shook their heads. “Lemme fix you up something. …You eat, don’t you?”
Yoru waved him off, “Yeah, yeah we eat. Go make somethin’ already.”
“Yoru!”
Aki smiled, “It’s alright. It won’t be anything special, but I hope you will like it.” He stood up and started making his way to the kitchen, “Oh, feel free to make yourselves at home.” He disappeared into the kitchen.
“Yoru?”
“Yes, Reimei?”
“You think we’ll be alright here?”
“Do you still doubt me?”
“N-no! But…”
“He seems like a nice enough guy. We’ll be safe here.”
Reimei sighed in relief, “Good.” He made his way to the small coffee table and took a seat on the other empty seating mat. He reached over and grasped Yoru’s hands. “I’m so glad.”
“Me, too.”
