And I laughed, so hard.
I know there was a thread on this, but I couldn't find it to post it there.
Plus, I was not hurt by it, I laughed a lot.
I was helping a lady, and my co-worker and I were talking about her friend who had her first kid at 15 and the lady chimed in with how she couldn't do it, told us about how she had had fertility problems and tried for seven years before conceiving.
I work in the kids section, so I feel stupid when people ask me questions about kids and I don't have them to compare and I'm the only kids employee who doesn't, lol.
Plus, co-workers see me buying baby clothes (I'm stock piling for when I have them, the outfits I have/plan to have are soooo cute) and ask how old my kid is and I'm like "I'm twenty-one, I don't have a kid yet, haha."
But so she mentioned how bad she wanted a kid and she couldn't have one so for seven years she cried while all her friends had them 'til she finally had one at thirty-six (after two surgeries and various fertility drugs). I went "Oh yeah, I'm only twenty-two (I forgot my own age and made myself older, lol) but all these girls I graduated highschool with are getting pregnant and then these people younger than me, and I've been with my boyfriend for three years so it isn't fair to me... I want a kid so bad."
Somewhere in there she must have gotten confused and thought I'd managed to get pregnant, lol. As she was leaving she asked "How far along are you, you look pretty far." I blinked for a second, started to say "Oh I'm not..." and then thought "She's been so nice, don't embarass her" so I said "I'm not very... err, not much longer." "Are your parents going to help with it?" "Erm, yeah..."
She said "Well, I'm proud of you!" and walked off, I thanked her and muttered under my breath so my co-worker could hear me "...but I'm not pregnant."
After she walked off we started cracking up, she was amazed I didn't jump over the counter and punch the lady, but honestly... I think the lady just got confused by my story. Yeah, I am kinda big... but I was looking at myself and I really don't think I look pregnant (although tonight after my shower while looking in my mirror I was like "Oh God, I do kinda!"). And I know for sure I'm not pregnant, so haha.
I've never had somebody mistake me for pregnant before, I think it was the story... but still, I also have lost weight, so maybe when you're in-between it's hard to tell. My neck and face have lost weight so I look like I could be, especially as my stomach was behind the register.
My co-worker told me without me even going "D-do I look pregnant" that I don't and she doesn't know where she got it. So we laughed a ton.
So, opinions? I'm curious how most people would react... like my co-worker saying she'd have wanted to punch her. She was being very nice, so I didn't want to embarrass her by admitting I'm just fat, so I played along to spare her feelings.
Plus, hey... she must think I look skinny other than my stomach, lol.
I feel so special, it makes me feel like more of a fat person :3

Wow that is funny. smile I can so wait to have kids. Im 23 and i was thinking late 20's early 30's if i find the right guy and marriage and stuff, if not then adopt and maybe infertilization as a last resort. but back to looking pregnant. I did have my 5yr old cousin ask if i was pregnant a few years ago, but that is about it. i think most people know that i just have a big tummy and well big everything. smile

My own mom does that s**t to motivate me to loose weight >_> She's like a 24w and im a size 15/16, and she's like..
"I think Tom knocked you up, you're stomach is fat..or is it always that fat?"
My brother does this s**t too, he's tall, muscular, and a total hick...When i was younger, i would eat ice cream and sweets, and he'd be like, "Girl put that back, you dont need that, your figure is already to hell, why make it worse?"
Only i don't think it's funny, i think it's mean and i hate her. And because of him, to this day, i wont eat ice cream or any type of chocolate sweets. I think of him, and how I'm already hideous why make it worse..They hurt me so badly, i dont even really consider them family any longer. Just people i share a DNA strand with =/

We are the same size but i try to ignore it and also educate my mother. She thinks not eating is a diet, when its very unhealthy for you. I have lost weight doing the right thing, so forget what they say. If they really cared they would support you, not mock you or put you down. But i digress, for get them and love yourself. I sawy get naked in the mirror and just repeat "i am sexy" and eventually you will start to see it

I'm such a motherly person by nature, I want my own kid to worry about since I keep getting told it's none of my business to worry about anybody else. Plus, I'm certain my boyfriend is the right guy (after three years long-distance), and I'm dying to get married or engaged but I'm having to be patient and keep telling myself "He's two years younger, give him a couple years." I'm bound and determined to at least have my first kid by twenty-eight, although I'm hoping I'll only have to wait 'til I'm twenty-five (giving us a year or two of wedded bliss, lol).
@Pixie: Wow, my family would say "don't you ever want to have a boyfriend" and "You'd be so pretty if you lost weight." I don't think my mom could honestly make the comment about me being pregnant 'cause she'd freak the ******** out. We like to pretend I'm still a virgin to one another... so yeah, lol. sweatdrop
But yeah, I eat chocolates all the time and I've still been losing weight. Or maintaining. Maybe not in the past day, but I'm about to cut back again... but when I crave icecream I eats it, and it is good.

I've been mistaken for being pregnant many times. Mostly because this one shirt I have has a high waist to it and puffy sleeves...it looks like a maternity shirt but it isn't. This one chick asked how far along I was one time and so I said "7 months" and walked off. my lil sis was laughing the whole time. I'm kinda used to it. I like my big belly. whee

The only time something like this happened was when I was in fourth grade. This boy in my class was like, "Are you pregnant?" I told him no, I wasn't, and he was all, "Yes you are. I know you're pregnant, because you're so fat!" At the time, it really upset me. I wasn't even fat. neutral

Yeah, I think I was the one who posted this thread about how I wore a really tight shirt at my work and someone thought I was pregnant. Due to the fact I was a junior in high school that crushed me. Now I think if that happened I would play along like you did.

I think I remember that thread, but the thread I was talkin' about was a girl who was told by some old lady at her church that drinking a frappucino wasn't good for the baby, lol.
I told my friends today and they laughed.

If you were in fourth grade it's safe to say you didn't even look pregnant so much as the kid was a fourth grader and pulled an insult out of his a** and he actually probably had a crush on you, hence the insulting.
My friend has told me how some grade schooler she taught ran up to the teachers crying because somebody called them a "frozen bumblebee" Kids insults don't have to make sense or even be true.

One of my sisters had an uneven distribution of flesh. Her legs and arms were pretty thin, but she had a big butt and a belly.
During high school, one girl came up to her and quietly asked if she was pregnant. My sister just politely said no, and that was the end of it. Shortly after that, another girl came up and asked, loudly and obnoxiously, the same question. To that, my sister replied "Yeah, I'm pregnant. Immaculate conception with the anti-Christ," or something along those lines. Been a while since I heard the story.
If it happened to me, I'd probably have a reaction similar to my sister's. If someone honestly thought I was pregnant and made a comment of congratulations or politely asked if I was, I'd be nice about it. I'd verbally smack anyone that said something just to be cruel.

Yeah, I was confused as to why my co-worker said she'd have punched the lady when I was like "The lady was being nice... she was honestly happy for me, and I didn't want to embarass her by pointing out she'd asked a fat person if she was pregnant, if she honestly didn't mean it as an insult."
