So... you have a PC... and are going to get a second hand laptop, and then a Mac for your birthday... sweatdrop
Lucky you, is all I can say! xd
I don't like laptops that much. I do too much art stuff on my PC, so need the big screen, and might as well have it at a desk anyway for the tablet. If I'm going somewhere else, I'll take a sketchbook... razz Mind you, it would be useful for things like coding, especially if it had a wireless internet connection.
If I were you Mwa, I'd wait till they come out with that new technology before you get the Mac.

Mwa, can I steal ypur parents? I want a laptop, but that'll probably never happen until I got to university in a couple years. Granted it's not for coding, but for a chance to properly improve my pixelling skills..
