Silver eyes caught the glow of her mate's with unwavering determination. "Yes."

Slender fingers moved the short strands of her black and white hair behind an ear. The girl that had once wanted only to cause dark mischief almost a thing of the past in the beautiful mother who would stop at nothing to protect her black magic family. "Can you teach me what we'll need?"

User ImagePupiless glowing eyes stared hard into those of his mate's, he didn't like this idea not one bit but he knew himself and his father could use all the help they could get against their foe. "It won't be easy to learn this art, and it's dangerous ... oh so dangerous," he frowned deeply he truly hated this.

"You won't be exactly a Necromancer, you'll be what my father called an Abhorsen ... they are technically necromancers that return the dead to where they belong instead of bringing them to life."

The male whipped around and picked up a bell bandoleer made of beautiful black leather. 7 bells ranging from tiny to huge sat in special holders that kept their clappers still so they could not ring at the wrong times. Their handles were made of beautiful black wood of unknown type that had strange marks running around it always changing and shifting.

"We'll start with the seven bells ... form smallest to largest.."

He slowly put the bandoleer on and drew at the first bell very carefully keeping the clapper still. "This is Ranna the "Sleepbringer" or "Sleeper", Ranna is the smallest of the bells, with the highest tone. Its tone induces sleep, quiescence, and/or relaxation in humans and Dead alike. It may send the weakest of the Dead back into Death." Like all the bells Ranna was made of beautiful silver that also had those strange marks running constantly through it never seeming to stay the same.

He slowly replaced Ranna and pulled out the next bell being just as careful. "this is Mosrael the "Waker", Mosrael is used to bring the Dead into Life, but also throws the necromancer further into Death. He replaced the bell and drew the next.

This is Kibeth, Kibeth, or the "Walker", is a bell that controls movement. It is able to give and take away the freedom of movement from its target, or in careless hands its user. He drew the next one.

This is Dyrim. Dyrim, or the "Speaker", is a musical bell that controls sound and voice. It is able to give a voice to those without one (including the Dead), or render one mute. Dyrim can also be used to improve mood, for its peal, when rung properly, can seem to those alive as a sweet, uplifting tune. His slender fingers drew the next largest bell.

This is Belgaer. The "Thinker", Belgaer is a bell that manipulates memory. It can bring back forgotten memories erased from a spirit who has spent too long in Death, or erase memories altogether. If not used carefully, it may splinter the mind of the one who wields it. He replaced Belgaer drawing the next bell knowing he was getting close to the worst of all the bells

"This is Saraneth the second-largest bell, the "Binder" Saraneth is used by necromancers to bind the Dead to their will, and is the favored bell of the Abhorsens. It can be used to command spirits back into Death, and beyond the Ninth Gate. It is one of the most commonly used bells of the Abhorsens, along with Ranna and Kibeth. Rung discordantly, it can also make the wielder's mind wander." Slowly he replaced Saraneth but refused to draw the last of the seven bells instead he touched the handle lightly.

"This..." his voice cracked for a moment and one could tell he was shuddering in fear of the last bell "this is Astareal "The Sorrowful" or "Weeper", Astarael's tone is described as being low pitched and mournful. Astarael is the most powerful and largest bell which will throw everyone who hears it, including the ringer, deep into Death. If rung properly with another bell, however, Astarael may not be deadly. She shook his head then his eyes darkend "never use Astareal 'Lesca unless she is used in accordance with all the bells." His mouth visibly hardened.

Slowly he took off the leather bandoleer and held it out to his mate, once she took it the next thing would be to give her the book of the dead.

If she was a weaker beta just knowing her mate did not like the idea she would back down. But Yunalesca could not. She was not offering to learn this for selfish power or foolish reasons. For once. Her hair shifted as she nodded, accepting her mate's warning of the danger. If he had thought it too dangerous he would not teach her. If he did not have faith she could he also would not. This 'Lesca knew. VooDoo was no fool.

Tight lips repeated what he said softly about each bell, her silver eyes following his hands upon them. Truthfully she had not been expecting to see the bells themselves so soon and it was with reverence she accepted them from her mate. "Never, Beloved." She swore solemnly. Her silver eyes were widened, not having missed how her mate's magical voice had managed to crack nor how her fearless love had shook with fear. It must be more terrible than she dreamed to shake VooDoo so. Again if it were not to protect her family she would be tempted to back down, if only not to worry her mate. It frightened her to see him like this.

Kerrigor. It was all his fault somehow.

"Should I learn how to ring mundane bells first?" Yunalesca did not even want to ring the least powerful of the bells incorrectly.

"You need to read 'The Book of the Dead' first, it'll tell you everything you need to know, of course it's strange because you can't remember any of it until you need it." He turned and picked up a black leather book with silver clasp holding it closed, it took an opening and unbinding spell to open the book but VooDoo had taught her that already.

He handed her the book and shifted his eyes blazing, his jaw was working the muscles bulging as they worked. He wasn't happy about this at all , it was dangerous and fool hardy but he also knew his mate well and she wanted to do this to protect her family and he knew he couldn't stand in her way.

"For now, we'll continue your training to build up your magical strength." He held out a sacrificial dagger, as always he had to slice the palm of her hand then his before they pressed them together to let their bloods mingle then the painful part, he had to force his own power laced blood into her body and use his remaining power to keep her body from rejecting the foreign blood until it could combine with hers.

The ritual made him weak for days after it, but it made her stronger.

"VooDoo..." It was barely a whisper, her heart aching for him as she saw his muscles straining along his neck and jaw. Silver eyes flickered as she accepted the book. Yes, she knew how to open it. Yunalesca never minded about upsetting others. Except her mate. The beta she loved who had pulled her from her promiscuous and relatively directionless ways as surely as if he had cast a spell on her. Silken chains of love. Fueled by passion of course, but love 'Lesca could not deny and did not wish to fight.

If there was another way... If he knew of a necromancer that they could trust... if it was not to protect her mate and their young... seeing how VooDoo was upset by her chosen course of action she would change her mind. It would not be the first time she had altered her plans for him.

Pushing those thoughts away for the time being Yunalesca clasped her bleeding hand to his, silver eyes held fast to glowing red. This process was both love and hate. Of course she thrilled at the flow of power. But she hated how her mate weakened though she knew he would regain his strength again it never seemed soon enough. Perhaps one day she would have enough power to help him with her body not rejecting his demon blood. Either by will, or enough of his blood flowing within her. As many times as they did this it still seemed new. Her eyes flashed with love and determination.

VooDoo stroked her cheek when she whispered his name, it hurt and scared him but he knew this was the best chance they had at winning and they needed all the magical help they could get. He gripped his hand tighter around hers and yanked her forward against his chest. VooDoo buried his head in the crook of his mate's neck. His hair billowed around her chest and his head as he stayed like that every muscle in his body tight willing himself to keep up the exchange longer than ever before as 'Lesca would need all the power she could get from him.

When he was no longer able to even hold his hand closed he drifted away before settling in a gracefully swirl of his hair to the bottom of the waters liking the way some of the pebbles dug into his shoulders and back while others had scattered.

The male's eyes fluttered slowly closed although a satisfied smile had twitched onto his lips.

Here it was -more of the love/hate of this procedure. Yunalesca could feel the burning sensation of her lover's demon blood entering her. Not as painful as it once was, but it still hurt tremendously. The power... she could almost swear she felt it mingling and merging with her own blood and what power she had already gained from VooDoo in this fashion. These surges of power when he first transfered his blood & powers into her were always the strongest. They left her feeling both strong and weak. It gave her a high, seemed to expand her senses of perception & understanding.

It was an amazing feeling.

And yet... Yunalesca was glad their children's transition into their powers was nothing like this. It was wonderful to share with VooDoo, but seeing him lying weak upon the ground made her both angry and sad.

As she usually did Yunalesca tried to fathom and process the new power flowing inside her. To somehow mentally or with her powers assist in the integration of the transfusion. At least as much as she was able. It was dangerous, this. For though she had more power she was not as skilled as her mate, and he was weakened from it. She was actually more dangerous in this state when the pain of it was not overwhelming her. Simply from the higher chances of not being able to control or underestimating the added power.

Today she would focus, let her body and mind come to terms with the added elements of her mate's demon blood. It still burned. Not nearly like the first time, but it burned. She could feel it pulse within her and it made her skin crawl slightly. With concentration 'Lesca drifted to the bottom to her mate's side. There she took his head into her lap, fingers gently stroking his brow, then the long locks of his hair soothingly. Perhaps once the initial rush was calmed she would pull out the book and read it. For now, this was relaxing and given the state of affairs was assisting on keeping the black magic apprentice focused.
