[img here when they're certed] A rock came tumulting down, bouncing off the earth and nearly landing on Xenophon's head. The Nequus gave an alarming cry - certainly not overexaggerated - and bounded to the side to avoid a concussion from that massive boulder.
"It's just a pebble, Xenophon, quit your yelping," Xenostrate called from far ahead. His hind 'accidentally' slipped on another rock and the said complainer was forced to dodge once again.
"Ophie has quick feet today," the third brother chimed. He wasn't very far Xenostrate, but certainly ahead of Xenophon's heaving form.
"I - don't - think - we - should - be - coming - this way," Xenophon managed to get out, dragging himself over the next obstacle. Sweat beaded his body, and his mane took the opportunity to cling to his face. Snorting, the farthest behind shook his head.
"Ophie says we shouldn't be coming this way," Xenodoros advised, a slight grin on his face.
Xenostrate didn't answer.
"Strate!" Xenophon practically begged, taking in several deep breaths in the act of increasing his turnover.

The hours, days, weeks, months, and even years of planning had finally started to take a less chaotic form in the brindled buckskin's head. Calming down? He wasn't quite sure that was the word for his dark mind, and certainly it wasn't a question of calming his motives or curbing his intentions. He still planned on somehow elevating himself into a position of influence, much more than a measly prince ever could think to have. He needed more. Surely with Yi going into power he would need more, for Ka trusted her about as far as he could throw a mountain. Did she really have the herd's best interest in mind? Or was it her own? Most assuredly she was in for herself, and that was just one of the bitter thorns stuck in the side of the deal.
He had come to the conclusion, that with the brith of yet more fillies by his mother, killing off just Yi wouldn't cut it. And how much murder could one stallion have without being blamed, found out, and punished for it? Surely not that many. And as such, he would leave Yi to her own demise, let her have the political aspects, let her deal with the morons and the false gratitude, Ka didn't need it. As the stallion made his way unmarvelingly through the canyon as a sort of 'mid afternoon stroll' his lips upturned into a sort of pleasant deviation of a smile. He didn't need politics, he just needed power. And what better than the military forces he so enjoyed giving an arse kicking? Yes, that is what Ka wanted. To be rid of, fully, that pompus father of his. To be rid of Mavusu and to take his place as Commander of the soldiers.
However, as it was, Ka's dark throughts were interrupted by a rather loud cry, which brought one of his ears swiveling to the side. A moment later, and more voices, not very far off either. He doubted anyone would be out and about this far from the main herdlands, but still curiousity got the better of him. Flicking his pace into a slow jog, for he was quite use to the mountain terrain, he stooped over to the side of the little pathway and took a little glance downward. And what did he see? It was as if Jala herself had given him an offering, as she taunted him to take it. Three Bae foals, all coming up the mountain towards him, and oh so very alone.
What to do now? Claim his prize from almighty Jala? Of course not, Ka could tease just as well, and as such he backed off from the edge of the ledge to the point he wouldn't be seen from those below, and then he channeled his voice into that of a dark, haunted glee- which of course was no problem for the morbid stallion. "You shouldn't have come this way, indeed."

Xenodoros paused, Xenostrate frowned, and Xenophon let out an involuntary growl. The two formentioned turned to took at him.
Xenophon gave them a light grin and a shrug. Still, even the light - if strange - humour was not enough to distract the triplets from that eerie voice.
"No tricks, show yourself!" Xenostrate hissed, his eyes scanning the area, muscles tensing in apprhension.
"Do you suppose it's a mountain spirit?" Xenodoros asked, his head cocked. "Maybe we should-"
"We're not going anywhere," Xenostrate snapped in response, still searching for the source in vain.
"Yip, yip, Xenostrate, someone thinks they're scary." Xenophon was clearly mostly recovered. "Maybe it's a little yip, trying to be big? You can get your voice to echo great up here in the mountains."
"Bottomless pit of information. . . " Xenostrate grumbled, giving up rotating his body and just using his ears instead. "I'm warning you!" He backed up his earlier claim.

"Sure you are", he answered unphased by their threats, if not amused by the 'warning'. "But why don't you climb up here and see for yourselves, unless you're too pathetic to even make it this far up the mountain. Tiny, tiny fools, climb higher now, hurry." If he played his cards right he might even be able to find some sort of entainment to take back with him. However, as much as Ka would have loved to reveal himself to the prospect of new slaves, 3 even, he didn't see why needed to do the work. They were but lowly Bae, and he would not be made to go down after them unless they decided to flee. Hopefully, though, they wouldn't be that smart.

Xenostrate snorted, clearly very agitated about the fact that this one thought he was so completely above everyone else. "We don't know where to climb up, you numbskull," he snapped. Clearly this one was about as bright as a Shrila-feather.
"Tiny? Hurry?" Xenophon repeated. "Just how-"
"Eiee, we're making the mountain spirit angry!" Xenodoros whispered in Xenophon's ear, silencing him for a moment.
"Xenodoros, there's no such thing as a mountain spirit," Xenophon asnwered him in his own low tone.
"There's not!?" Disbelief seemed to mount his face. "Then why are we whispering!?"
Xenophon figured he better take over the situation now. His brother was angry, and the other one wasn't quite witty enough. "You're not going to get very far by calling us fools, you know. Whoever you are, whatever you are and whatever you want. If you want us to leave, I'm sure we can drag Xenostrate here out with us." He paused. "If you want to meet us, you better meander down here with your own four legs."

Well well, one of them seemed to have a bit of a temper. That wasn't a very good quality in a slave, now was it? The other two however, remained to be seen as fit. Then again, they were Bae, and Ka did have his heart set on a bulky, strong Aeri. Yet, to refuse an offering from Jala herself? Best not to get out favor like that. "Can't help calling what I see. For is it not fools who climb the red mountains of the Katilenuck unprotected?" It wasn't so much a question as it was a comment, his voice dropping back its normal pitch, which was still fairly dark all its own. Unfortunatly for him, he hadn't quite gotten the response he had wanted, and as such the fun seemed to be gone from it; or about as much fun as Ka could have.
In light of the more reasoning voice that took control, andhis own desire to get things moving, Ka once more stepped towards the edge of the ledge to peer off the side and to put his face into view. "There. Now you see me, and now you know how far to climb, however I shall not be coming down. Leave if that is what you want to do, stay there to starve if that is what you wish, but you shall not be getting higher up the mountain without seeing me face to face first." That was all, and with an idle flick of his ears Ka withdrew his head and once more stepped back from the ledge. Had they the gumpsure to leave, he would have to make the effort to chase them back. Possibly leaving one, the foul-mannered one, behind.
