PS2 was better. All Sony had to do was give it an automatic update system. Then it would've been the best and they could've passed Nintendo.

Because they didn't they lost hundreds of Sony fans. Myself included.

That said I still love my PS2. It is almost as powerful as the flying spaghetti monster.

Even as good as the PS2 is...compared to the Wii it is last gen. The Wii has 512MB of internal memory...it's not that much but it's more than the PS2. The Wii has wifi while you have to have ethernet with the PS2.

There is no way they can put a mass update system on the PS2. The PS2 doesn't connect to the internet automatically and download updates. It would take putting the "update" on games or something. Major waste of time. The PS2 is too far in it's life to introduce firmware updates.

In the long-run, the PS2 can't compete with the Wii. Not ragging on it or anything, I love the PS2. Also, hundreds isn't that much wink Do you mean thousands or millions?

Sony would have lost the consol wars at launch if all they had done is put out an updated PS2. The tech behind it would never have been able to keep up in the long run.

The newer, more powerful PS3 has many advantages that simply cant be done on the PS2 with ease. Did you know that to put a game like MGS 4 on a PS2, you would need somewhere along the lines of, 7 to 12 discs? not to mention the updates the games ship with.

Sony is out to win the consol war, I suspect your major issue is not the PS3 but rather its price, which really isnt that bad when you think about what it COULD be. 3nodding Cheaper systems, both in cost and material, do not equal a win in a consol war, it means a quick, early lead but in the long run, a loss. You must remember, the PS3 was designed not as a 5 year consol like previous consols, or even the Wii and 360, but a 10 year consol!
