Raider83 anyone ever heard anything about the Ashdown Fallen Angel amps? I haven't heard much about them (maybe not too special? maybe overlooked?). The features are nice, but you'll want to play one for yourself to get a taste of the tone stack before you decide if you like them or not. I'm not too sure about the DSP, and i would imagine you'll only get a couple okay sounds out of it. I'm actually kinda wondering about it simply because it has that built in. Other amps like that tend to cheap out a little bit on the tone and hope to make up for it with lots of mediocre bells and whistles.

I would love to try one if I can ever find a place that has one. I've only ever seen the fallen angel once and that was like 4 years ago. I didn't know what it was at the time tho. I've seen some test runs on youtube, but ya can't really go off those because its too dependant of the camera mic and your speakers.

I have a line 6 pod xt live run through a bunch of speakers.
it sounds amazing.
but an actual AMP amp, I have a little Fender Frontman 25R that I got when I first started playing.

Crap, guys! I wanted to get a Mesa Mark IV but the price keeps going UP! It's nearly doubled from 800 to 1500 on the used market in the past 5 years and still rising. So I'm looking at Mark IIIs (same thing, less smooth, one set of controls for all channels) and those have gone from like 400 to 800 and I almost bought a DC-5 that was going for 700 (all mesa amps are rising in price on the used market it seems, except express, those still suck razz ) but I was too worried that it would sound too muddy and i didnt get it. Pretty much from what I've heard the caliber series is like a muffled mark series kinda sound.

I use a Marshall Lead 100 Mosfet. It's a solid state, and too big for my purposes, a stage amp really. But I got a good deal on it like 10 years back. And it works sounds good, with volume on .1 or so. I've only come near a noise violation once in the past few years. Always an issue with having that kind of power on tap!
The thing is, I appreciate the argument that the guitar is only as good as the amp. . . if you mic the amp. I don't have an appropriate mic, so just record in through the various emulators, and get a very clean yet appropriately messed up sound when recording through my various pedals.
One day I'll probably mic the sucker. . . but then why record in mono? I'd need to get another amp at least to get near the quality of stereo line-in!
