So what is everyones opinion of what's going on? I for one think the Wright issue is blown way out of proportion.

The Wright issue is about Obama's pastor and his rantings, right? I can understand why many people are shocked and worried about what that man said, but they forget Obama is half caucasian. It's not what Obama thinks, its what the pastor thinks.

Anybody still keeping up with what's going on? This Wright thing is way out of hand now. I'll post more later.

A "friend" of mine (and I use the term extremely lightly at this point in time. xp ) was talking about the pastor's comments as if they had come from Obama himself. It made me mad because it reminded me of the Frankenstein/creator complex. (Where people call the monster Frankenstein when in fact the monster never had a name. Frankenstein is the name of the creator!) I think people forget that the Pastor and Obama are two different people. I bit my tongue and tried soooo hard not to throw down the race card in this, but, people seemed to merge the two because they were Black. They were merging him with his spiritual leader (at the time) because most politicians have one. I told my friend that Obama isn't the type to mix church with state. Nor would he advocate such a slanderous set of opinions. He never said it. I don't know how many times in the entire conversation that I stressed he and the Pastor were different. my "friend" got offended because he thought Obama was agreeing. The thing is, I live in IL. I've met Obama, seen him live in action with speeches and have followed his work to a certain extent. I may not know him as personally as a family member might, but, I have a good idea plus my own personal faith in him that he'd never think things like that.
I dunno. I get really passionate when people come down on Black political leaders who are REALLY TRYING to run a straight course. It's like they can do no right no matter what. My "friend" saw my point but I guess he's still for Clintion. At a time, I was too until I took a good hard look at who she was as a politician as a person. There is just something about her makeup'd, wrinkly face that just doesn't sit well with me. Her body language is really off as well. Anyway, last I heard, Obama had officially divorced (O_o couldn't find a better word I guess..) himself from the preacher. The preacher decided to do some speeches as well. I remember hearing him on the local news here talking about how he wasn't a politician and how the media had messed up what he said. Then he went on to pretty much say he and Obama were not one in the same.

*whew*

That's my opinion on it. I may not have all the facts but I put my feelings into that post. xp

i think the media needs to stop giving wright the mic.

he just keeps blurting out more and more dumb comments. and since he is linked to obama, people assume that obama has the same ideals that wright does. i think it's good that obama is distancing himself even more from wright, especially since he hasn't been obama's pastor for years. i also think that whenever he makes some dumb racial comment, it makes blacks look bad in the eyes of other people...

Why would they stop? The media loves the drama, half the s**t he says is very racey...

I think what everyones worried about is: why would Obama go to the same pastor for so long and not believe in what he says. I think the public is wondering if obama actually agrees what Wright is saying, and just ending his connection with him for the sake of the race.

My personal opinion is that Obama has been a collegue of Wright for some time because (I assume) that Wright has alot of other issues that obama might agree with, the racial ignorance is just one thing wrong.

Its like that great friend that you have, but there is that one issue or number of issues that you guys don't agree with.

All just my opinion.

yeah Wright needs to back off.
He's saying to much and he's like trying to beat down Obama.
Obama is pushing for change, but he's trying to get support but he can't have that with people like Wright.
