We've all known each other for a long time. We seen Last Gen Console Wars and This Gen Console Wars. Most of us may have had an open mind but we held our loyalties towards certain systems. I remember how [back then] Bunny--Man was a big time Sony lover and I was a HUGE Nintendo Loyalist, looking back on all of that it seemed foolish but we loved our consoles and in the end for the most part kinda swtiched sides to XBOX 360.
So my question is: What has your opinion changed from then to now regarding what system you prefer or dislike? What factored in those changes or unchanges [lets face it some older members still love thier consoles/companies]

Within my lifetime I've been hardcore Nintendo, to hardcore Sony.
Now, I'm just blah. I'd rather have all three and call it good, or collect older game systems. I'm not so fond of the console wars anymore, I used to be but since the past couple of months it's like... "What's the point"? Even if you're right what does it get you? Nothing happens really, just going into another arc of a fight that will never end.
So what am I now? I won't lie I'm not happy with Nintendo, I'm REALLY not happy with Nintendo, but not to the point where I would boycott them, or be dumb about it, but I'm not happy with them. I think the Wii could have been SO MUCH more then what it is, and not just that but be able to do more with just a little modification, nothing huge or anything but enough to make it more then what it is. And Nintendo WiFi to me is just EXTREMELY outdated, and just s**t.
Microsoft, I'm just meh about it I don't like how they're handling the 360s failure rate, and a lot about it. There are also some things I don't like about the 360, and it just seems like I'm buying a bunch of accessories that I believe the 360 should just do out of the box. I like Microsoft, and I REALLY respect Bill Gates, hell I love Vista, the Zune, but I’ve never been a fan of the Xbox, only for a couple of games, but it just doesn’t make me wet myself with glee. MAYBE for games like: Rumble Roses XX, DOAX2, DOA4, and some other games…. DAMNIT MAKE MY OTHER TWO XBOX GAMES BC!
Sony, I'm happier with them. But I feel like they're going backwards with the PS3. Sure it shown increase in sales, but I almost feel like if I didn't get the 60GB when I did, I would have been let down by what's out now. I like Sony as a company A LOT, I buy my electronics from them *or Samsung* I wish Ken was still apart of the PlayStation project.
Overall though... I'm REALLY disappointed with this gen, or how it's going. I don't feel that games are what they were, even last gen it's changed SO MUCH! NO one talks about games anymore, it's about the console. You ask a question about a game, and it turns into a console war. People only care about reviewers and number, I don't feel that the game companies care about gamers anymore, and the games are not exciting anymore.
Last gen had so many games I was looking forward to, both new series and old one. This gen it's just OH this game looks interesting. HELL I'm more excited about games from 10 years ago then I am about these new ones.
Personally I think we're in for another crash, I think that it's going to be different then what it was back in the 80's, but I think that come near the end of this gen, and onto next gen where going to see that games are going to go downhill, and that they will be geared towards older people, or non gamers instead of us.
This is why I'm seeing myself more of a game collector then a video game player. I love collecting games, I love to go to a store and see a cheap game that has a pretty cover art and getting it just to add to my collection, or going into a game store that sell older games from generations ago. The history of Video Games to me has been such an interesting a wonderful topic! I love just going to Wikipedia and reading about a games history or a consoles history, it just brings so my interest to me Also I've gone more from games to cell phones, I'm AMAZED at how wonderful cell phone boards are! No fighting, no one goes around saying one brand of phone or service is better then another, and if you ask a question they HELP YOU! They don't call you a dumb s**t, or stupid for not knowing. IT's just a WHOLE NEW wonderful experience!
Sorry for the rant, but it was just yesterday I was driving to work, and really was thinking about the console wars.

I've never set foot into the Console Wars, mostly because I follow the ideology that it's just a bunch of flaming and elitest banter. Correct me if I'm wrong but I got a feelin I summed it up pretty well. It's fun at certain times sure, but I've pretty much steered clear from that kind of stuff since LIAG.
That being said,a part of me believes that the 360 is dominating the current gen at the moment. Now this is coming from a guy who doesn't give a crap about system specs or any problems or complaints other people are having,I'm just going off of the games I've played or games offered that pique my interest. I hate to admit it,but until Brawl my Wii was nothing more but a white ornament on my TV.And I got a feeling it'll fade back into obscurity once me and the couple of people that come over to play it lose interest in favor of something else.I love Nintendo and all,but when I go to Gamestop all I see is a wall of games based off movies or cartoons. As for the PS3...Well...I mean I wouldn't turn one down if someone offered me one,but...I'm just not interested in it at the moment.
And no...Just because my username contains the name of a Nintendo character does NOT mean I'm a Nintendo fanboy.I just have fond memories of my first time playing Ocarina of Time.

I honestly see Nintendo on a downhill from here on out for the Wii. Brawl is out, they have no more ammo besides Mario Kart Wii and that can't get as much hype as Brawl did. I don't think Nintendo will ever do BAD for the Wii era, just this is the peak.
The PS3 is going to rock, it has way too many things going for it.
360 is going to fall the same fate as the Xbox if Microsoft keeps on having faulty systems.

Games don't get me off the way they used to. I'm slowly transitioning to a PC player. I'll take the constant battle for compatability for the extra versatility and maturity of the PC. The console games coming out just aren't worth the $60 price tags anymore.

So far I think I've been right about everything next-gen. I knew the PS3 would hit a price drop before MGS4 and LBP were released, so I made the right choice holding off on it.
Planning ahead and preordering a Wii well before launch saved me the trouble of frustratingly hunting for one(and the Wii probably won't price drop until this December, so getting it early didn't hurt there). The Wii also has three games worth buying the console for at this point, and a handful of others that I'm happy to own. Money well spent, even if it spends the second half of this year collecting dust.
Something I didn't predict, though.... I still get a lot of use out of my PS2, actually. There's a huge backlog of good games on it that I never got the chance to play, and I can get them for under $5 now. This is far more tempting than $50+ for "next-gen" crap.

Sounds awesome.
More or less, want more on your views of the consoles when they were first announce and how you chose one over the other...a nd how did that choice change throughout the last 2 1/2 years.

Unlike most people back in the day, I had both a Nintendo and a Genesis. I enjoyed both Mario and Sonic equally and owned some of the great rare games for the NES (Megaman 1, Xexyz, Zanac). Sadly, my NES was taken from me by my parents and sold at a Thrift Store while my Genesis died.
I stayed with Nintendo and got a SNES and then an N64. One Christmas after the N64, my family got a PS1 so we had the two main consoles again and I enjoyed them both with Final Fantasy 9 and Starfox 64 and Paper Mario.
Then we got a GCN shortly after it came out. My brother got an XBOX for some reason which I was able to get Fable for. We got a PS2 shortly after that.
Then came the current Gen War. After a friend brought thier 360 over and I got to play Oblivion. I instantly wanted a 360 so I got one. I obviously wanted a Wii so after a winter of searching, I finally got lucky and found one at a Toys'r'us.
I have no want for a PS3. I still enjoy my 360 and Wii.

I may have a 360, but I'm still fiercely pro-Sony. That hasn't changed at all.

I don't even know where to start. There's alot I can say with this topic. Might as well begin at the start.
What normally defines a fanboy of the videogames? Normally their first game and/ or the first console they played it on (this isn't 100% true, just work with me). My first game was Mega Man II on the NES. Most at this point would say I was a Nintendo Fanboy. I'm not.
When the 32/64 Bit Era rolled in, my tastes in consoles changed. My favorite series were either poorly represented, or missing all together on the Nintendo 64. Games like Mega Man and Castlevania were Tearing it up on the Playstation. I owe alot to this lil' sucker. My first Console RPG was on the Playstation (FFVII), I discovered the awesome that is Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation. Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy Tactics, Mega Man Legends? Yep, all on the playstation. Sony catered to what I wanted. So some of you guys may call me a sony fanboy. You may be right.
The Year 2006 was a pivotal year when it came to video games. It was a year the price was announced for the PS3 and it was the year the Wii was shown in it's potential glory. It was a very pivotal year for these two companies. The moment the price was announced for the PS3 I felt like I was hit with a brick. The initial line up of games for the wii made it look very promising. It looks like Nintendo could make me a fan of theirs once again. So like most people on the internet, I was on the Wii/ ******** Sony bandwagon. Could it be I was a fanboy for Nintendo once more? Not quite.
Once things died down for a bit I had time to collect my senses. I had a job and was saving up money to buy the wii. I figure I would have to plan out what I have to buy in order to get the most out of my wii.
Wii - $250 Extra Controller - $40 Extra Nunchuck - $20 Two Classic Controllers - $40 Excite Truck - $50 Red Steel - $50 Twilight Princess - $50 __________________________
Total - $500 before 8.25% CA sales tax GRAND TOTAL (+/-) - $541.25
So a reality check happened. I was about to drop all this money on the Wii. I was about 60 bucks behind the High End PS3. I t was around this time I was starting to see some of the upcoming games for th PS3. I was intrigued. Namely for UT3 and Heavenly Sword as well as MGS4. So I figured the argument against the PS3 was pretty much moot for me.
I preordered the PS3 and got my PS3 at launch. I tell you that I made right choice. Especially now about two years since that E3. Getting the wii would have been a mistake for me. I played the Wii Twilight Princess on a friend's wii. Hated it, the controlls felt tacked on last minute. Played Red Steel, hated it, felt cookie cuter, like I played it before. The only games I want for the wii that came out since then are few and far between. Galaxy, Heroes, and Smash.... that's it.
Within a year of the PS3's launch I already had 12 games. This year is looking even better. MGS4 is going to be bad a**. Looking forward to GTA and SC as well. Those games are on the 360 as well, but there's a reason I haven't been talking about it.
Ask me two years ago what I thought of the 360 and I would have said it was flawless. That's until I started getting issues with it. Freezes at random points while playing, Disk Read Errors while playing, and lets not forget the red ring of death. My 360 got it. Just out of the ******** blue. I popped in GH2 to play some Rock 'n Roll Hootchie koo and in the middle of playing it it hits me. Just turned it on 5 minutes prior. Took me a month to get my 360 back. After that it just wasn't the same. I rarely play it. Only when there was a game I wanted to play on it that was exclusive to the 360. Like Bishock or Mass Effect. But even then I be playing and having a good time then BAM Disk Read Error or it would just freeze. My 360 is in an opne space too. For it to give me this s**t is ******** rediculous.
Too many say the 360 is better. That it's exclusives are better and multi plat games look better on it. You know what? I say ******** that. What's the point of having great games if the console you play them on is faultier that the PS2? I rather pay 600 for a console that works than pay 400 for one that could die within a year or even less.
That's my two cents.

When I first, first posted in the Console War sticky (Back before it was rolled back), I was the biggest Sony supporter ever. Bashed every other console, everything.
Then, I played the GCN. (Metriod Prime, specifically.) My position started to shift somewhat. And then I bought an Xbox before even playing one. (Bold move, but it did not fail me.) It was then I said "******** these console wars. Every console is great.". And then I became the unbiased gamer you all knew me as.
When the 360/Wii/PS3 war started, I was against the Wii. After buying a Wii, I was still against the Wii. Here we are now, and I'm still against the Wii. The 360 is the most played console in my house, the main thing the PS3 gets used for is the Folding@home program. (And Assassin's Creed.) The Wii just has too few interesting games for me. Albiet, the ones that are interesting are pure genius.
Basically, my position shifted from Sony fanwank to Unbiased Gamer to Unbiased Gamer With PRoblems with the Wii.
