Winter 2006-2007: Hurray! The first newsletter of SSoS! From now on, there will be seasonal newsletters for the shop. Contents will include previous updates and news, as well as events that are going to happen/being planned in the future.
Enough talking! Let's see what's going on in the shop lately...
New Student!
With the opening of the school, 6 students are admitted up till now. check the front page for their pictures and journals!
*A reminder to all players: in order to be promoted, you must complete the 14 posts of your journal as well as exiting all introduction RPs! You cannot stay in the intro RPs forever...after all, you have work to do in the school instead of partying all day long! (despite what Professor Javelin's insane plots...)
Changing of Managers
Due to inactivity and RL issues, as well as priority in taking care of other shops, former managers, Golden and Grey and Ogre have resigned from their positions as managers. I thank both of you for your participation in the building of the shop itself and wish you good luck!
With that said, we would like to welcome two new managers, Zan-chan and Naeodin to the shop! We are very happy to have you guys, and are looking forward to working with you to improve the shop.
Concerning the general inactivity for certain managers: If you are a manger and does not show yourself in the main thread within a week without a reasonable excuse, you might be fired. Some of you may argue that you have been active in the guild. This is not a good excuse for not showing up in the main thread---it is also part of your responsibility, and if you have the time to update in the RPs, you should have more than enough time to drop in and say hi here as well. I expect you to know exactly what is going on and be on top of every shop updates. For example, when I say you should check the guild, I expect you to be there, participating in discussions. This way, it shows me not only you know what's going on, but you are interested in what's going on as well.
Reflection on the Christmas Event
Overall, I am quite satisfied about the event. I hope everyone else also had fun there. I commend Zanzan for organizing such an awesome event. Thank you very much!
Currently, Zanzan's internet is down. Therefore, anything that has to do with her for the event is in slow progress. I hope the winners be patient with their prizes, thank you for your understanding.
New Events!
We have some exciting events coming up in the next few months! so stay tuned....
1. In celebration of the Chinese New Year in February, SSoS is hosting an RP event that is essential to the storyline! The event includes the welcoming of a new NPC, as well as one or two student, depending on the RP's progress. Why do you want to join this event? Well, first off, this is a fun event for those of you who love to RP and write using your imagination. And second, perhaps the more intriguing part is that you may become the player of the new student for FREE depending on your performance! In order to join this event, you must be active in the month of Febuary as well as be literate. If you would like to join, stay tuned for a sign-up sheet that will be updated in the next week! Good luck to everyone~
2. At the same time of the sign up period, we are going to host a advertising contest. This is to ensure that the event in February will run smoothly and quickly. And to do that, we need a lot of people. Detail of this contest will be posted along with the sign up sheet. Who knows, you might win something good! XDDD
3. The month of March is also packed with opportunities for you to earn a student! The first ever custom auction will be held During the month of March in celebration of Toa's birthday. Please note that if you wish to bid on a custom student, you must have been active in the SSoS main thread before! Any new comers will not be allowed to bid.

Conclusion of the CNY Event!
After a month of RPing, chatting and (unfortunately) delaying, the Chinese New Year Event has finally come to an end! Thankfully, no one was seriously injured. In addition to that, we are proud to welcome our two new players, Chrystali and Kaitsu_Ralia to our school! We hope you guys will have a fun time RPing with us!
On the other hand, we here also would like to introduce the new school Doctor, Kenth Larine to our school! As a new NPC, Kenth will not make his appearance in the introduction RP, however, he will be often seen in case there is an injury! There also seems to be a secret admirer of Dr. Kenth that's sneaking around the school... ninja
Upcoming auction!
The first ever SSoS auction is opening on March 10th. A reminder that you must make yourself present in any of the SSoS threads (not including the auction thread) before the auction starts in order to bid! This time, we are offering something special...if the bid gets high enough, the school will make an agreement with the elves to bring one or two of their young men to our school! How exciting~
Note that the elven students will most likely have a different job path than normal human students. Please keep that in mind when you are bidding.
Metaplot???
It is not for certain, but we are planning for a major story advancement sometimes in March or April. Please note that if you and your student wish to become part of the metaplot, you MUST be active in RPing. The metaplot, like the CNY event, will go extremely fast, and if you cannot keep up with the speed of the RP, don't plan on entering your student. We are not going to wait 2 days for you to post.
The Official Opening of the Chikami Mall!
After much delaying, the Chikami Mall is officially open to students and teachers in the school! The Chikami Mall is essential to doing quests, either class or misc related. There is a Money system used in the mall, and the rule is as follows (which can also be seen in the CM's introduction):
---The Chikami Mall and all of its stores are used for RP and quest purposes only. All RP rules apply here!
--- In order to buy an item, you need to first RP the process of getting this item, as well as a wallet. ;p
--- Dollars (what's in your wallet that gets you the items) are gained by actively posting in the main thread outside of this guild.
--- Posting an emote/bump= 1 cent
--- Posting a sentence that doesn't spark conversation (with 3 replies or less) = 10 cents
--- Posting and engaging in a long conversation (1 page +/15 posts or more)=1 dollar
--- Posting a very very long opinion (more than one paragraph/3 sentences)=50 cents
--- You are responsible for keeping track of your dollars! DO NOT CHEAT!!!
--- After you have chosen the item you want to buy and have enough money to pay for it, RP how you pay and exit the shop.
--- Every student starts with 2 dollars. :3
---About item usage: items are used in either RPs or quests. If you want to use an item, there needs to be at least a journal entry for it. (ex. you bought a cake, and you ate them during class. In your journal you should mention that even if there's no RP going on. )
--- Each Student is capable of holding 50 items at once. The only way to get rid of your item is to write so in your entry.
--- You are responsible for keeping track of your own items.
--- Use#: this number indicates how many times an item can be used. For example, if the item's use # is 2, that means the item can be used twice. Afterwards this item should be eliminated from your inventory.
--- * means the item lasts forever.
The Dollar system will be in effect starting from March 5th, 2007 (that's tomorrow). This'll hopefully encourage players to actively post in the main thread. :3
Other Rule Changes:
WARNING!!! This is the place where Tooaya will act out a role of a devil's advocate. Do not be offended by any of the rule changes below! More importantly, do not complain about the rule changes!!!
For Everyonel:
1. RP rules are updated on the front page, they are as follows:
---RPing via IMs are allowed. In order for it to count, however, you need to post the entire RP process in your journal.
---Inactive private RPs (including teacher vs. teacher), meaning if no one posted within a week, will be deleted unless you pm the mule and give us a good reason as to why it should not be deleted. (busy with school work, exams, hiatus DO NOT count as good reasons. -_- )
---All finished private RPs will have "finished" in their title somewhere for it to be stored in the archive. Anything else will be counted as inactive RPs and will be deleted after one week.
--- Tooaya reserve the right to take over any NPCs if needed to advance any public RPs.
2. And yes, we have an archive section in the guild now, check it out!
For Managers:
---in order to deal with the general inactivity from the managers, here are the new rules:
1. If you are RPing an NPC, you must have an NPC journal.
2. Your NPC journal must be updated whenever there is a new annoument in the teacher's lounge, and must be updated at least once per month.
3. As a manager, you must be able to give useful feedbacks when it is required. This means you must be able to post your opinion in a timely fashion. And by timely, I mean you cannot post something a week later and expect me to consider your opinion.
4. You must actively take on the role of an RP manager (reading RPs, checking any rule violations, inconsistencies, deleting inactive RPs, moving finished RPs to the archive, etc.). And by actively, I mean be more human, find things you can do instead of asking me every time about what you can do.
5. Any absence, from guild or from the main thread, for more than 6 days will require a valid excuse IN ADVANCE. See note in the guild about reasons that are considered valid.
6. Any absence, from guild or from the main thread, for more than 2 weeks will require a formal hiatus note PMed to the mule IN ADVANCE. See note in the guild about reason that are considered valid.
7. Failure to give a valid excuse or hiatus note will result in the suspension of your student and NPCs.
8. Repeated absences (more than 5 times), with or without a valid reason, will prove to me that you are incapable of being active and you will be fired.
9. Again, don't complain about the new rules. You have applied to be manager, you should be ready to take on these responsibilities.
For Players:
1. You must update your student journal at least once per month. Journal length must be at least 6 sentences long.
2. You must feel obliged to keep your private RPs alive. If you don't, not only do we hate you, your RP partner will hate you also.
3. With that said, don't RP when you are not going to be active.
4. An absence of more than 1 week from the main thread and the guild require a valid excuse IN ADVANCE. See note in the guild about reasons that are considered valid.
5. An absence of more than 1 month from the guild and the thread require a formal hiatus note PMed to the mule in ADVANCE. See note in the guild about reasons that are considered valid.
6. An absence from guild and the thread for more than one month without a hiatus note will result in a pm warning.
7. After the warning, an additional 20 days absence will result in the expulsion of your student.
Again, I know these may sound harsh, but please don't complain about it. Thank you very much. v_v

 I'm squishing two seasons of info together in one single newsletter, sorry, this is mainly because that the meta had taken too long...
Conclusion of the Metaplot!
As all of you have been aware, the metaplot wasn't the most pleasant (if not the least) experience. During the past FIVE months, things have been going really slow, and there were conflicts, up and downs, from the players and from the managers, including myself. But on the brighter side, we have finally made it! A new race, the demons, have been awakened during the metaplot, so expect some updated info on that later on.
And just so all of you know, since this RP form of metaplot didn't yield very good results, all metaplots will be written down as a story from now on. This saves time. :3
There is a report update in the teacher's lounge for managers, please review it and make a journal for it in the near future.
New Students!
During the metaplot, SSoS has hosted a special FS thread to celebrate its 1000 pages mark. Let's all give a warm welcome again to Scyeth and Mikajah, as well as their players, Soutou and Rown~
Now mind you, this has been a SPECIAL Flat sale. This means that these two students have some secrets that might influence the story later on...hmmm...what could they be hiding...?
And rumor goes that Toa will have a student of her own soon? *suspicious glances* >3
About Staff...
During the metaplot, the shop had been very inative. Many things have happened, and I do realize that this is mainly my fault...so I'm doing (yet another) revamp in RP-manager positions.
New Manager: Chrystali has joined the team and will be playing our beloved Headmaster Norman, as well as her OC, Alexis Falcone.
Saltski circe will be taking over Javelin, and Toa will be playing as Kenth as well as one other NPCs.
Which leaves the position of Lorioth, Shinji and Herei open for people who are interested. Note that I will only be choosing one or two managers (the NPC that is left will be played by myself). If you want to work in SSoS as one of the managers/NPC players, please send a pm to the mule with the following info:

For the last point, make sure you read the NPC info post in the guild and write a self-RP according the perspective NPC's personality. You don't have to write a novel about it, just a little paragraph to show us that 1. you are capable of RPing and 2. you are capable of RPing the NPC as their own characters. And yes, if you are interested in two NPCs, you have to either write up two samples or one that incorporates the two.
I don't know when the hiring will end, but please do turn in your application as soon as possible. the three NPCs will be unavailable to be RPed during this time.
Image Transfer
Toa is moving every graphics in the shop and the guild to another PB account. So if you haven't saved any pictures you'd like yet, it is the best time to do so. There is also a gallery section up in the student lounge that contains all the student's full pictures. Go check it out!

Smaller Updates
There are several smaller updates through out the shop and the guild.
-there is now a bottom banner at the end of each shop post. :3
-the FAQ section in the promotion guide thread have been updated in regards to credits that can/cannot be carried over to the next stage, make sure you read them!
-the school layout thread now contains a list of dorm items that's default in student/teacher's dorms.
-Gallery in student lounge, like I said before.
-Some rule changes in the misc quest section, make sure you read them!
-deleted some of the outdated stuff on the front page.
-storyline will be updated very soon once I get the story from someone...>>
Future events
toa is planning some future events for the shop. But because of the school, she might not be able to do much. So I ask that you all have some patience with me. ;w; And try to keep the shop active while Toa tries to survive college okay? ^^;
-I noticed some students should be registered, this should be done soon.
- There's a few metaplot coming up in fall, concerning the demon races as well as stepping into another race awakening.
- The tentative date for next auction would be somewhere around February, 2008. I know it's a long time, but do tell your friends about it if they are interested!
-There will be a Twin flatsale coming up in Fall, featuring...you guessed it, the first twins! I'm not very sure how to go about it, so suggestions are appreciated. : D
-And Toa is really hoping to get some students to the upper levels...so work hard~ But with that said, there should be updates in the upper divisions very soon too.
I think I've covered all of them...>>; Sorry, this is a group of very small updates, but it's still updates~

 What's the best way to put up a lot of updates at a time? A newsletter of course!
First, some overdue Promotions! Thank you guys for being patient with me. ;w;
New...and potentially new students?
This is mainly a re-cap. Tooaya has finally gotten her own student! More Krovaski will be staying in the school as a conditional admittance student at Shinkami. As the time goes on, he will be playing more major roles in the metaplots. So let's all keep an eye on him! <3
Annnnndddd...during the month of November, SSoS is hosting two Flatslaes Back-to Back! The first one, the twin RP sale, has already started in guild. After this FS, another, smaller flatsale will be hosted to celebrate Thanksgiving/alien invasion anniversary/1-year birthday of the shop itself! I'll be looking forward to all the new players coming in, an early welcome to you guys!
Happy Birthday Shinkami!
It's hard to believe, but SSoS is now 1 year old! I thank you all for supporting the shop so far, and I will try my best as the owner/manager of the shop to bring more fun into the school! Special thanks to those who have helped me in person. I couldn't have gone this far without you guys.
Follow-up to Demons and possible awakening of another Race?
There will be another mini metaplot in guild in a few days that talks about the influence of Demon's awakening. Could this lead to another race's awakening in the future? We'll have to find out...
New Staffs!
I think all of you know by now, but this will be an official welcome to two new staffs into SSoS! A formal welcome to Angel XIII (player of Lorioth) and Soutou (player of Herei) to the school! I hope both of you have a great time here. But remember to be active~
With this, Toa will be taking on the role of Shinji from now on. Looking forward to RP him with you guys~
Some bad news...
While we have many newcomers, some of us have also left the school.
Student-wise, Teh Bunnah Ninja and her Rylenn left school due to RL issues. Rylenn's departure seems to be of great influence to some of other students. But please don't be discouraged! Hopefully things will turn to the better side soon!
Staff-wise, we suffered a heavy loss when kitty (Saltski Circe/No No Raja)'s account is repeated banned from Gaia for no apparent reason. As a result, she is forced to retire from Gaia and thus from this shop. I have talked with chrystali about future plans, and we reached a tentative agreement that she will be taking over the co-owner's position and continue writing the metaplots. This has also left two NPCs player-less. Dante and Javelin will need to be played by someone else, especially Dante, since he holds a main position in the school. If any of the players (or lurkers alike) are interested in taking the two NPCs (Dante mainly) in their hands, please pm the mule and we'll talk. You must have either AIM of MSN to apply.
MISC.
Here's a list of what happened/what's going to happen:
*There is now a promotion request thread in guild so Toa doesn't have to go around and keep track of all the promotion pages.
*There is now a hiatus notice thread in the guild. If you are taking a hiatus, please post there AND notify me in the thread.
*There will be a new shop in the Chikami mall that is suggested by Alex.
*There is a story-metaplot in November about influences on demon's awakening that will possibly trigger another race awakening.
*There is a race-awakening metaplot planned sometime at the beginning of next year, exact date is yet to be determined.
*there is a Christmas party planned in December in guild. It will be a free-for-all RP event, everyone's welcome to join (provided that you joined the guild before), and there could be prizes....?
REMINDER!!!
Yes, this is always the good part, gives Toa a chance to yell at all of you. *shot*
*All Journals that are not updated after June of 2007 will be deleted this coming Monday. This includes both NPC and student journals.
*All PRPs that are more than a week with no response will be deleted this coming Monday, do not complain to me.
*You must complete a certain class RPs in order to allow your student to be promoted! It is really not anything different from a public RP, except it is in a classroom. .___.
*Excess Event and quest credits can be carried over to your student's next stage. Class credits cannot, PRP requirements cannot.

 It's time for Newsletter again~ Whooo, time sure goes fast, it's February already! So a lot of things are going to change/happen, and here's some of them: First, a promotion! Congrats to Ka for becoming a registered student!  For those who are paying attention, some of the students are almost ready to be promoted into upper division schools! How exciting! What this means is that managers will have to begin thinking about Class Planning. Class Planning? What's that?Basically, each NPC is responsible for teaching some classes in their respective divisions. Because these classes are more lecture oriented (unlike the classes in basic learning which is self-learning), the NPC players are required to take on more active roles in teaching students. Since some of the students are almost ready, I'd suggest that NPC players should start thinking about how they are going to run a certain class. I will be posting some of the class suggestions and descriptions in the admin's forum later on, but do note that in an upper class division RP, you take the charge. If you don't know how to organize a class RP, feel free to talk to me. Managers can also post their thoughts in the admin's forum to help each other out. We are going to get things moving~ Reminder about PromotionsThis is for both NPC players and incoming students. Managers: please make sure that you are active in the introduction RP so the students are able to progress through their new student stage fast. And students, do feel free to talk to the NPC players and set things up so RP can run more smoothly. Also, you don't need to finish anything before RPing with others. As long as you have a student, you are able to RP him during any time. :3 ACTIVITY PEOPLE!This issue is, I bet, stressed in every single newsletter. Note that although Toa's an evil b***h, she is not unreasonable. The worst thing you can to that will surely make Toa be mad at you is disappearing without notice. If you are going to disappear, I want you to try your best to tell me BEFOREHAND, not after, because then it'll look like an excuse instead of a reason. Also, there IS a hitatus notice thread in the guild. Please make use of it if you are thinking that you cannot handle things well. I'd yell at people more...but there's interesting things, so I'll hold off on that. PLEASE PLEASE make sure you let me know if you are going to disappear! Even if it's for a week! Upcoming Events?Even though Toa's suffering in school, she will still try her best to put out events and sales occasionally. Unfortunately though, she's not able to do anything major for the month of February. But! there are some minor things in which you can take part in during Feb. 1. The current CNY ORP, held in Basic Learning forum by two students. This event is for students ONLY. 2. Secret drop off for V-day, which is coming faster than you think! The school administers will be sending some pleasant gifts for those who had been active the past year. What might you receive...? For March: -A premade Flatsale (details coming soon) to celebrate Toa's birthday. : p For April: -Hopefully a application FS. (see below for more info) NEW KINDS OF SALES?That's right, people. After discussing with the managers, we have decided to tweak the FS procedures a little, as well as auctions. From now on, there will be two new types of Flatsales: 1. Premade FlatsaleThis is similar to the old flatsale. You are provided a preview of the student's lineart and you may choose the color scheme if you won. The difference is that now we will have some control over the student's personality (simply because Toa feels the need to introduce more variety in the student body). You will be provided a keyword that relates to the student's personality or history, and you are to answer the prompt given according to this keyword. The keywords will vary greatly, and can be anything and everything. So you will still have plenty of freedom to develop the student if you won. 1. Application FlatsaleAlthough it has the same name, this flatsale is different from the previous application Flatsale in that NOT EVERYONE CAN ENTER. In order to be eligible to enter the application flatsale, you must have an approved student concept in the student application forum. Once your concept is approved, you are allowed to enter this kind of flatsale. Depending on the numbers of approved concepts, this type of flatsale is NOT ALWAYS PROMPT BASED. Chances are, we love your student already, that's why your concept is approved in the first place. So this type of Flatsale may come in as events, raffles, or even games/RPs. FS fee: 15k for premade FS, 20k for Application FS (since this one is pretty much a full custom). You may not enter an application FS if you do not have an approved concept. If you do have an approved concept, however, you are more than welcome to also try out for the premade FS. AuctionAuctions will still be very rare. However, anyone can enter from now on. But we make it clear to you that you MUST be committed to your student. We will not do any kind of refunds if your student is expelled for any reason.

 It's been a while since we did a newsletter, since the shop had been...uh...pretty uneventful. BUT! That is about to change! Because we have plenty in stored for you guys, whether you are someone who's looking to work in SSoS, or someone who's looking for becoming a student here...and for existing members of SSoS! That's right, we have somethings coming up during the fall and winter of 2008 that's probably for everyone.
But first...some sad sad news. One of our dear student has disappeared on campus due to unknown reasons. Some say he had ran away, but who knows. But due to the large amount of schoolwork and activities he had missed, we had no choice but to expell another one of our fine student, Nikolai.
Wherever he is, we hope he is okay, and we wish him best of luck.
Now, the stuff you guys should be looking forward to, our event plans for all and winter!
1. A CAREER FAIR, you say? That's right, at end of September/Early October, SSoS is hosting its own career fair for its students for the first time! Professionals from all over the world are invited to join the career fair and talk to students about what they do and why they do it. But more importantly, the career fair also serves as a recruitment event for the school itself, as General Greg Larine and Dr. Lorioth Manneth are going to be on dispatch missions for the supreme government. Specifically, we are looking for two NPCs who will replace Greg and Lorioth in their duties to teach the students. This could be a great opportunity for people who wish to work in SSoS, so if you are one of those people, keep your eyes on this event!
2. During the career fair, we will also be recruiting new talented students from all over the world. We will be having one student up for premade flatsale, and another slot for all the approved application students. If you are one of the people who's looking to join an application flatsale, don't slack any longer and get your ideas and quests approved before the event! As to what kind of sales there will be...well, they will be revealed soon....
3. A field trip? No, not to China this time. This time it'll be actually for fun! : D Rumors say that somewhere in the Northen continent lies a sacred tower, where people can go and place their wishes at the top and eventually it'll become true. We think that's nothing but a legend, but there is a recent report about a "white tower" attraction in Greenland that seem to possess some curious magical abilities. Our kind headmaster, Norman, has granted interested students special permission to go on a field trip to the white tower to experience this magical attraction, and to have fun! Really, to have fuuuunnnnnn.
...but of course, that's a big fat lie, as we all know it.
Either way, with the field trip comes another important metaplot, which will take form of another RP event in (hopefully) December-January. This event is for all students, as well as those who are interested in getting a special premade student. More info will come soon, so stay tuned~
Okay, I think that's all I have right now. Go get yourselves prepared for all the exciting events that will happen~
