Saruka Pass: it was within an intimidating stretch of mountains in which a path had been cut through hard labor done in secret in midst of a war to create a way to ambush the enemy, leading to the infamous Battle of Saruka. After the initial bloody victory, Saruka Pass was left to the treachery of nature. By the time that Yume and Sakura had reached it, the greenery native to that mountain range had overcome the bricks outlining the faint path, making it difficult to see what was mountain and what was the actual pass. However, time had not wiped out the stains of war. Sakura could see bits of ruined armor here and there that sometimes shone with a bloody sheen in the afternoon sun. As she gazed in reverence and a bit of fear, Yume's ghostly form took her by the hand to lead her across some treacherous area riddled with sharp stones and dull fragments of a broken katana. The moment Yume took Sakura's hand, Sakura was able to see, for a brief second, what had happened on this battlefield of times past. She shuddered, and the vision disappeared with her movement. Yume looked back at Sakura in wonder as she felt the tremor traveling through Sakura's body, and Sakura gazed back at her questioningly. Then they walked on silently, both pondering similar thoughts.

Sakura's head jolted up to its proper upright position from its bent reverie of thought from surprise at the silence broken by Yume's question. Her slight confusion soon disappeared when she realized the leaf's significance. "It seems to be a message for us..."
Yume smiled wryly. "I knew that; but from nature or m--" Her question was cut short by her companion's "sh!" but Sakura's warning came too late. Yume and Sakura felt simultaneous terror as they felt a black cloud loom near and surround the both of them, ready for a synchronated, and clearly preplanned, attack...
