Man, I am SO disappointed in issue #3! mad This is the Catkind issue that I was anticipating, and the art has taken a dangerous dive again. There seems to be a new artist on most of it...except that all over the place heads of DT from the previous issues have been cut-and-pasted onto the Doctor! And it's only about 3 repeated over and over... gonk If I were that artist, I'd be mad as a hornet that they were sticking somebody else's art on top of mine! But it isn't just the art this time--the story itself is downright LAME. Everything is rushed and crappy this time. If they keep this up, this comic will not last long. sad

Wow, that's pretty bad. Is the art credited to a new guy, or is it that some guy is 'ghost artist-ing' for the regular artist? Could be that he just couldn't get the Doctor's face consistent with the previous issues, and so he either decided on his own or was ordered to use the cut-and-paste method.
A pity the comic isn't all that great, especially at $4 an issue.

*Goes & digs up the previous issues* Lets see...The first issue was drawn by Nick Roche. He continues to do all the covers so far as well. Second issue...interior art by Jose Maria Beroy. Both artists have the same ink assistant & art assistant. Third issue...art by Stefano Martino, with NO art or ink assistants credited. His art style is perfectly good, even if his likeness of 10 isn't as dynamic & full of DT's personality. The heads that are being cut-and-pasted in are by Nick from issue 1 mostly. Honestly, I think it's an editor's decision to do this, not the artist's. Probably didn't like some of the faces, was running tight on the deadline, and decided to fix it himself.
Gary Russell has no such excuses. Each issue has been written by him so far. If he can't handle the deadline pressures on a monthly comic, he'd best step down. He made #3 confusing, vague, annoying and really messed up the Catkind themselves. mad

This will be the last I say of the earlier IDW DW series. It really fell apart and was sadly lame and awful to look at. I seriously would not waste money on it unless you see it in a bargain bin and you're a completist.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOW we shall discuss Doctor Who--The Forgotten, also by IDW. It's up to issue 5 now, just got that today. Issues have been coming out pretty regularly, and in general it's of much higher quality although the stories sometimes annoy the heck out of me. The story for 4 was completely stupid. mad However, this issue vindicated the whole series. It seems so obvious who the villain is (which is immediately suspicious, of course) through all the first 4 issues. And then, at the end if issue 5.... eek scream gonk

The Forgotten #6 did NOT live up to my expectations. It could've been really cool and daring, but it turned out a pretty lame ending to a rather uneven series. -------------------------------------------------------
OK, now we have a one-shot comic by IDW: Doctor Who--The Whispering Gallery. THIS is FINALLY a very cool comic! It was NOT written by Gary Russell, the art is interesting and unusual with decent likenesses of 10 & Martha, and their personalities were captured well in the dialog.
If you find this comic, I'd highly recommend buying it! A Review.
