i think slivers are awesome whee and you really can't go wrong with it... except balancing things because then it becomes tricky. i did eventually make an okay deck. it took a lot of time but i got it. it was the first deck i ever wanted to make when i first started playing and it was also one which my MTG teacher told me was impossible to create (because cards are so rare and expensive), a year later i've got myself a deck, decently cheap too. so… in your face xp !! (a lot of hand-me-down slivers can make one hell of a deck!). most people are discouraged by this tribe but stick with it! it all works out in the end.

I'm in the process of re-vamping my deck but what i have at the moment is:

Forest: 4
Swamp: 4
Plains: 4
Mountain: 4
Island: 4
Terramorphic Expanse: 2
Rith’s Grove: 4

Coat of Arms: 1
Sliversmith: 1
Imagecrafter: 2
Utopia Tree: 1
Reef Shaman: 2
Dream Thrush: 2
Fertile Ground: 2
Spectral Searchlight: 2
Pulse of Lanowar: 1
Belbe’s Portal : 1

Sliver Legion: 4
Sliver Queen: 3
Sliver Overlord: 3
Frenetic Sliver: 3 -(does anyone know if the ability can be played by anyone?) sweatdrop
Battering Sliver: 3
Frenzy Sliver: 1
Synchronous Sliver: 3
Spitting Sliver: 2
Mesmeric Sliver: 1
Virulent Sliver: 1
Brood Sliver: 1
Sinew Sliver: 1
Lymph Sliver: 1
Reflex Sliver: 1
Dementia Sliver: 1
Fire Wake Sliver: 2
Plated Sliver: 1
Winged Sliver: 1
Hunter Sliver: 2

I also used to have 2 Vedalken Aethermages but I took them out just a second ago. I might be wanting to put them back in, but for now I only have two. So yeah… A bunch of the slivers are in here seem random, but they’re all I have so they will have to do for now!

Anyone have any advice on making Sliver decks? Any fun stories or cool tricks or combos you can think of?
My favorite still has to be Imagecrafter/Sliver Overlord. Adding insult to injury twisted , as if slivers alone weren't bad enough! then turn your opponent's creatures into slivers and take control over them too! My MTG coach pointed that one out to me (don't know where i'd be without him!). heart

Back when I had a sliver deck, I had a Glittering Wish into Coalition Victory. I used rampant growths, Search for Tomorrows, Gemhide Sliver (for mana), and Dormant Sliver (Card drawing), and other two colored slivers.

I was avoiding poison slivers.

And it was all Type 2.

Slivers are too slow and there is too much removal in T2 for them to be playable at tournament lvl and Ext and before has nice stuff and they all have

Engineered Plague

The thing I have learned is that no matter how you build it, people will always react to a sliver deck as if it is built to the nth degree. So my advice to not make a bad sliver deck, or even, sadly, a creative one. As fun as it is finding ways to be creative with slivers, by making a deck that is trying to be off the wall, you are automatically taking away from its potential power level. Normally this is ok, because people will recognize that the deck is trying to do something strange and not necessarily trying to be powerful.

However, as soon as people see a sliver, even one, in a part of a combo, they immediately will forget that the deck is not really good and beat you to a pulp.

So my advise is to take your time, be smart and build a good, solid, optimized sliver deck that will be worthy of the fear that it will evoke.....then don't play it very often. A good deck, and especially masterfully built decks are wonders to see work and I know myself that you want to take pride in what you make. But usually decks that are that good are also absolutely no fun to play against and thus should not be played often.

I've had a lot of sliver decks over the years, trying to break this and that and find a way to use one of the more interesting slivers (like the psionic or necortic) without really making it a sliver deck.

However, I always found that the decks that I purposely dumbed down by not making them mono sliver creature decks or by trying to have some sort of flavor or theme to them always got hated on the same no matter how bad or good they were. As such, I decided that I was sick of trying to make a fair sliver deck if it was never going to be treated that way. Hence I have stayed with the current incarnation, because it will kill you and 2 of your friends with ease if you let up on it for even and instant.

Here is my sliver deck:

2 Tiaga
2 Savannah
2 Plateau
2 Tundra
1 Tropical Island
1 Volcanic Island
1 Bayou
1 Underground Sea
1 Scrubland
1 Badlands
2 Windswept Heath
2 Wooded Foothills
1 Bloodstained Mire
1 Polluted Delta

20 Lands

4 Muscle Sliver
4 Sinew Sliver
4 Sidewinder Sliver
4 Virulent Sliver
3 Crystalline Sliver
3 Sedge Sliver
3 Essence Sliver
3 Winged Sliver
3 Acidic Sliver
3 Heart Sliver

34 Creatures

3 Mox Diamond
3 Standstill
3 Mystic Remora

Considering all the abilities that slivers have, the real trick is balancing the colours and all. If you can honestly make a 5 colour sliver deck work, then more power to you. xd

Though for the purposes of nostalgia, you just can't beat the Tempest-era slivers! mrgreen

if you want to make a decent sliver deck in current form...

Go about 30% sliver
40% Changelings and the rest go PURE control

pssh, try this. Its my five color sliver deck I have assembled.
sliversmith+might, watcher, and bonesplitter sliver=fun fun fun!
but verdent embrace is a must, that, or nuisance engine.
they create good blockers, and the formal of the two is awesome for making free instant defenders. like pikmin biggrin

Although it's probably banned, Sliver Queen is an excellent card and is fairly easy to get out with Gemhide Sliver support.

sliver queen is not banned because it's just not good enough for tournaments.
