Unless otherwise stated, the rules used are 3.5, and the setting is the default Greyhawk setting found in the core rulebooks. Any WotC or Hasbro book is considered to be fair game, though GMs reserve the right to veto contents within on irregular basis. Content found outside of this material or custom created is up to GM discretion whether or not it is accepted.
Character Creation
A Player's first character begins at level 1, as one of the default races/classes presented in the PHB. All characters begin play with 100 Gold at 1st level to purchase all equipment. Ability Scores are not generated randomly, but instead use a point buy system. A character has 28 points to spend on ability scores, all of which begin at a minimum of 8. The point costs to increase them are as follows;
9 = 1 Point
10 = 2
11 = 3
12 = 4
13 = 5
14 = 6
15 = 7
16 = 8
17 = 10
18 = 12
A character's alignment cannot be evil if it the player's first character.
Any Prestige class in a WoTC/Hasbro printed supplement is allowed so long as the character meets the requirements for it. Prestige Classes from third party sources, or home made are subject to approval. If applying for a Prestige Class, cite the material and page number that it is from. If it is from a less mainstream book, be prepared to assemble the information so that the GMs have it on file. As not every GM will have every book necessarily on hand, you must be prepared to give them a word for word transcript of whatever powers your character has access to as part of that Prestige Class.
If your character dies and cannot be resurrected, or you choose to make a new character, you may make a character at half of your last character's level, rounded up. At this point, it is possible to apply to have a non standard race for your character, begin with a prestige class, or have an evil alignment, though all of these things are at GM discretion and may not be allowed based on the individual merits of the situation.
Send finished characters to Fenrir SongMoon.
Game Masters
One must apply to be a Game Master before being allowed to run any modules within the guild. This is to ensure that all Game Masters are on the same page in regards to characters, theme, and standard behavior. There are simply to many characters that will be moving between games to allow anyone to run games for anyone; different styles of running games could easily end up derailing someone else's game.
If you apply to be a GM, do not be offended if you are not accepted, as it is a large responsibility, and a position that requires us to put a lot of trust in you. If your personal style is contrary to the style of the game we are running, it could easily destroy games that you aren't directly involved in.
To apply send Fenrir SongMoon a PM answering the following questions. Bear in mind that there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers, simply a matter of hard choices that will show if your style is compatible with that of the other GMs.
1: A player is caught cheating by lying about roll modifiers to ensure his success at something. How do you handle the situation? Assuming the player still lives or is still allowed to play, they are caught doing it a second time. What do you do?
2: How frequently do you expect PCs to die within your games?
3: Do you prefer to have your game focused more on role-playing, or hack and slash?
4: If you're running a game and through a series of unlucky circumstances the entire party dies a horrible death, what do you do?
5: If you roll an attack against a PC and score an extremely powerful and lucky critical hit that will flatten them instantaneously at full health (say, an orc with a battle axe hitting a level 1 wizard), and you know that none of your players has yet seen the roll, what do you do?
6: If a player is rude or disrespectful to you or other players during a game, how would you handle the situation?
Please note that as a bare minimum, all GMs are expected to have access to the PHB, DMG, and MM1.
Eligibility
Under no circumstances does a GM have to run a game, nor a Player have to play in one. A GM may choose whom to accept into their game based upon any criteria that they choose, whether if it's because they are hand picking players they wish to play with, or if they are choosing randomly, or a combination of both. A Player is under no obligation to play in any game they are invited to, and may apply to play in any game that they meet the requirements for.
Equipment
At the end of every module, players need to collaborate with their GM to verify the equipment they have obtained. The GM will send in that information to have the character sheet updated. In between modules, a player may purchase any item that they desire within any WoTC/Hasbro book, though any such purchases must be cleared with the Inventory Manager to be official.
Distance
Without being in person, relating distances can be difficult. GMs will do their best to supply measurements for distance relations in combat. If you're lucky, they will even provide drawings/maps. When in combat, please refer to any distances in 5' increments for the sake of ease.
