"Let the Games Begin!"
They were gathered, four of them. Three demons, huddled over a frightened soul. It had been pulled from the Void and now the demons were currently argueing over which one would consume it.
"It's mine!" One grunted, his pig shaped snout twitched as he breathed.
"No!" A snake-like demon snapped.
"I found it!"
"I should take it!" Growled the third demon and their voices rumbled as they argued.
A strong foot suddenly stamped the ground and the three demons turned. The spirit shuddered.
"I'LL take it." A man with long hair and an elegant face sneered. He was a Daemon. A beautiful creature of Hell who was much higher on the social ladder. The three demons roared with laughter at the man. However when he narrowed his eyes they fell silent. The Daemon claimed the soul.
"King Lucifer called a meeting." The Daemon said as he licked his lips. "Unfortunately, even you lowly demons have to attend." He then glided off, the heels of his dress shoes clicking royally along the dry ground.
The crowd that gathered at sundown was massive. No bigger meeting had ever been called and people were growing anxious to see what their king was going to announce.
Among them stood a boy with jet black hair and pale skin. His dark clothes stood out vividly next to the crimson dress of the girl who accompanied him. They had met the other night and soent it together. Now she was like glue to him. She wanted to hold his hand. The boy pulled away. He opened his mouth to tell her to stop but suddenly the crowd fell silent. Lucifer had stepped onto the dias.
"Brothers and Sisters! Loyal subjects!" His voice carried over the emense crowd.
"It has been brought to my attention that competition for souls has increased! I have peered into the Void and decided that their are not enough souls to keep us all healthy! I have created a solution!"
The boy lifted his head, steely grey eyes locked on his ruler.
"I will be sending a select few to Earth!"
Murmurs rose from the crowd. The boy smirked, revealing tiny fangs.
"Those on Earth will still follow my rule, but you may otherwise do as you please! There is only one rule!" He raised his hand. "Take only what you need! This begins now!" Several beings in the crowd began to glow. The boy was one of them.
As his body began to rise the girl grabbed his wrist.
"Don't leave me!" She cried.
The boy scoffed in disgust and flicked his wrist from her grasp. He then turned his head to the sky, his right hand touched his gun. A smirk played across his lips.

It was well after midnight. Loraine walked the streets alone with a stack of books tucked under her arms. The full moon sat low in the sky undaunted by clouds. It's silvery blue glow luminated the world in eerie serenity. Loraine closed her eyes and breathed in the crisp night air. It had been such a busy week. She had had so much studying and homework. Why did teachers always give so much? As she pondered the elongated shadow of a church loomed over her. Loraine passed the church nearly everyday, but that night, something compelled her to look at it. Compelled her eyes to lift the roof. A figure stood there. His long black trench coat fluttered as the night wind stirred the sleeping earth. Made it moan. In the light of the moon she could make out his features so clearly. Loraine couldn't help blushing. Her heart beat fast. The boy was inhumanly beautiful. Standing atop the church he was like a sollem angel. His jet black hair swept to the side and she knew it covered the other half of his profile. He wore many necklaces that glinted a soft silver and a cross hung almost mockingly around his neck. Loraine was transfixed. How had he gotten up there? Who was he? How old was he? These were only a fraction of the questions that flooded her mind. Then something even more stunning: The boy jumped.
Loraine leaned forward, a scream rising in her throat. He was commiting suicide! But before her scream escaped her eyes grew wide. It was as if the boy was floating. He glided clean across the two way street and landed gracefully on the other side. Without wasting a second the boy took off into the trees. What had just happened? Her head felt dizzy. She shook her head to try and clear it, found it made it worse, and continued on her way.
I am tired... She decided. I'm just tired.
Nearly an hour later and her thoughts had finally been dismissed. The young woman watched a few late night cars pass as she walked the long path home. Soon darkness fell like a blanket around her once again.
It lasted only seconds. The bushes rustled. She stopped. Turned. Out of the shadows stepped two monsters. They said something Loraine didn't understand. They pointed to her. Loraine ran.
Her lungs felt like fire as she ran, her books pressed to her chest. Her long hair fluttering desperately. Thick tendrils holding her back.
This CANNOT be happening! The thoughts epeated over and over. Yet here she was. Running. Being chased by two monsters. They shouted again in their strange language. Loraine ran on blindly, but she took a wrong turn and ended up at a dead end. She turned around, but the beasts were all ready blocking her path. They snickered. Loraine finally screamed.
Lorained didn't know how long it was, but it felt like they waited forever. Suddenly, finally one of the beasts stepped closer.
I'm gonna die... Loraine thought. She was shaking.
Closer.
I'm gonna die...
Closer.
"SOMEBODY HELP ME!" Loraine screamed at the top of her lungs, throwing back her head to the sky in prayer.
Suddenly a shadow passed over her some twenty feet above. A black figure landed in the alley and rose the second its feet touched the ground. The monster howled with pain as a hardened fist connected with his jaws. He stumbled back, holding his bleeding muzzle. He had bitten into his tongue with teeth sharp as swords. Some of his teeth were missing. The figure straightened up and Loraine realised it was the boy from before. However his elegant face was set hard as stone as he stared at the monsters with contempt.
The second monster moved to protect the first, shouting grotesquely. That horrible language again. The boy frowned and whipped out a gun. He fired twice and in two blinding flashes of light both monsters were dead.
"Thank you..." Loraine muttered stupidly. She didn't know to react. her mind was numb. Had this really happened. Suddenly the boy turned and faced her. The look in his eyes startled her. She took a step back and her back pressed against the cold stone wall. That twenty or so foot high wall. The wall that boy had just scaled in one leap.
"They were right." He muttered to himself. He sniffed the air.
"Your blood does smell sweeter..."
Oh my god! Loraine screamed in her head. He's one of them!
She tried to run past him, but the boy caught her arm and just like that she was pinned against the wall once again.
"Don't struggle." The boy said with a wicked grin.
"I'll have to kill you if you do." Loraine was too scared to run.
The boy leaned forward, towards her neck. He pulled down her shirt, revealing the nape of her neck and the tops of her shoulders.
"N-no..." Loraine breathed. It was hardly a whisper.
She was going to die...
The boy neared her flesh. She felt his tiny fangs growing long and lethal.
No one was going to hear her...
She felt his fangs brush her skin. Testing its softness...
How long would it be until she was found?
The boy poised his head, ready to bite when suddenly rocks skittered along the ground. The boy turned to face his ambushers. Loraine blacked out from fright.
The sun was rising high into the bright sky when Loraine awoke. She started awake, gasping. Her head turned this way and that. She was in her room...But how?
"A dream..." She muttered and turned to her side to lay back down. She saw him. The boy. He was sitting in the corner. He was watching her.
Loraine nearly screamed.
The boy held a finger to his lips.
"Not a dream." He said. Even his voice was flawless.
"Then you...and they..."
"Well aren't you dumb." He said almost amused.
Loraine frowned.
"You're a demon! I'm calling a preist!" She hissed.
The boy laughed.
"Go ahead. Won't do you any good."
"But you..."
"I'm a Vampire," The boy said, "Don't confuse me with lowly demons. I'm a Daemon. Better than those lowly beasts. Not that it matters to you. You'll be dead soon."
He rose to his feet, and Loraine's eyes widened in fear. Suddenly he dropped to the floor again.
"dammit." He cursed. My strength's gone...
Loraine examined him a moment. seeing she wasn't in any immediate danger she relaxed.
"What's your name?" She asked randomly, filling the silence.
The boy glared arrogantly at her.
"Zane, stupid." He said. "Don't get too comfortable. I saved your life becuase I want it. I told those demons you were mine." An eerie smiled passed his lips.
