In addition to their upcoming EP, they recently completed a new album. Recording sessions with producer David Bottrill have begun at The Art of Ears, the same studio where the band recorded much of their earlier material.[28][29] According to Jade's blog, hints were given that the eighth studio album may take launch before the EP, but has not been confirmed.


The tenth EP by AFI is scheduled for release on June 24, 2008 by Interscope Records and Tiny Evil. Currently, only one song from the EP can be heard: "Carcinogen Crush", which was a bonus track on the 2007 music video game Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, and released as the band's thirteenth single on December 4, 2007. The EP will contain previously unreleased songs from the Sing the Sorrow and Decemberunderground sessions.

Allegedly, the band initially planned to title two songs on the EP as "Suicide Romantic" and "Chair Kicking", but when the track listing reflecting this was revealed on an AFI fansite it became the subject of criticism by the band's fanbase, particularly because of these two titles. When the finalized track listing was officially confirmed by Puget, "Suicide Romantic" and "Chair Kicking" had been replaced with "Fainting Spells" and "The View from Here". It was later announced that changes to the track listing were cosmetic only, and resulted only from the retitling of songs which fans deemed to imply inappropriate themes.[1]

"Ether", a song from the EP, will be featured on the soundtrack for the 2008 video game NASCAR 09.[2]

A new EP was set for a December release, however, recently Havok announced through the Despair Faction forums, that it will not be available until early 2008. It will contain previously unreleased songs from the Decemberunderground and Sing the Sorrow sessions. Adam later announced more details regarding the EP, saying that some of the songs will be new and never before heard, some fans may have heard (like Carcinogen Crush), and some fans may know about but never have heard before. He also said that a release date will be announced soon.

Carcinogen Crush was made available as a downloadable song exclusively for the XBox 360 version of Guitar Hero III by obtaining a code from purchasing the official soundtrack of the game. The song was later released as a digital single on December 4th, 2007. It is also scheduled to be on an upcoming EP, due in early 2008.

Still no news on that. Jade said that it's gonna be released sometime this year. Hurry up already!

I'm still waiting for the EP!!! It's been forever! I can't see why the EP couldn't have come out sooner. But yay at least we'll have a new record soon.
