Calixte watched the handsome brown furred male before her, more than pleased at this chance encounter. He was a friendly wolf, certainly, and a fun conversationalist. Perhaps they'd become great friends and this would not be their only meeting? Part of her wished he too was a loner, like Rend and Maim. Perhaps then she could have rescued him from his lot in life and swept him away to her own pack, to have him all to herself just like her two puphood pals. Perhaps it was a selfish thought, but Calixte couldn't help it - she had been alone all her life until that fateful day of meeting Bindi; now that she was settled comfortably within Pandemonium she didn't want to leave. . . . but she craved friends her age too. Sure, there were Dax and Bindi's previous litter and Rend and Maim but. . . sometimes the girl just wanted to wander.
Today had been one of those days and look at how lucky she'd become!
Still, she reminded herself, if Halcyon was happy with his family in South Seaside than there was no reason she should try to take him from that. There was no reason they couldn't be friends or stay in contact, even when they parted ways! Calixte was hopeful enough to believe that such a friendship could be sustained and the wolfess wouldn't ever think otherwise! Her black tipped tail wagged happily behind her as she listened, resisting the urge to squirm in her puppish happiness. All would be well. . . she just had to believe. "Well then, I bet our packs would get along splendidly." Rising from her position, the pale spotted and flecked female trotted happily around Halcyon, reaching out playfully to paw at his tail.
"So what else can you tell me, stranger? Are you very good at games?" Calixte questioned, an impish smile crossing her features. Amber eyes bright, she wagged her tail playfully, arching her back to dip down in a play bow. Chattering was nice and well, but the young wolfess now wanted a bit more adventure. Surely he couldn't be so old as to not want to play! She'd be heartily disappointed if he did.
A game of chase, perhaps, to test his speed and agility? Or a good rough and tumble wrestle to see his strength? Really, any sort of game would be good - forget the tests of strength and speed, she just wanted to play!

Stretching, Halcyon jumped in surprise as the femme pawed at his tail! "They would, I bet." he agree, smiling and whirling around to keep his tail out of reach.
"Stranger, huh?" he questioned, a silly grin on his face. "I would think we've got to know each other now, enough to say we aren't strangers." he mimicked her play bow, fluffy tail swayed like a flag in the breeze.
"I've played a game or two in my time." he thought of his sister... the two of them played all the time, chasing each other in games of tag or putting their noses and ears to the test in hide-and-seek games. Even games were played while hunting smaller game. Who could bring back more rabbits before the sun passed completely overhead?
Snapping his attention back to the present, the big male pounced lightly in her direction with a playful growl deep in his throat. A big smile now sat squarely on his maw. It would feel good to let go and play again!

Calixte couldn't help but laugh softly, a little giggle emitting from her throat. Her fuzzy tail swished happily back and forth as she watched the dark brown male before her. How lucky she was to have crossed paths with him this day! He almost reminded her of Rend and Maim . . almost, but not quite. It had to be his dark brown coat. . . . Rend and Maim were her dearest friends, her only friends that weren't looked upon as family; but this stranger wasn't a Pandemonium wolf.
This stranger . . . well. . . he wasn't a stranger at all! "Does this mean we're acquaintances then?" She questioned, pale eyes bright with delight and good humor. "Or might I be so lucky as to think of you as a new friend in the making?" Though she was no pup, the young wolfess craved friendship through and through. Sure, she had Bindi but the the young mother had pups all her own and an entire pack to care for! Sometimes Calixte couldn't help but feel a little out of loop, a little young, and a little in the way.
So to cross paths with Halcyon made her heart soar.
"Well let's see what you've got~!" She laughed, teasing him as he pounced. Jerking back, baring her fangs in playful snarl, the wolfess whirled around and shot off like a light. Pouring over the ground, light and agile of foot, the petite femme glanced over her shoulder to make sure he was following. "Can you keep up old man?" She teased once again, her laughter ringing throughout the woods around them.
Calixte was in bliss. A new friend, good conversation and games. . . . There was too much shadow in the world, too much anxiety lurking. For once, today, she wanted nothing more than to be free and not have to worry about a thing.

He loved the sound of her laugh, and thought she was very pretty. Hopefully she played as well as she said she did!
"I'd say if you're good at Tag we're friends!" he challenged, a wide grin on his maw. He didn't have many friends - none of them outside his own family. In fact, the only ones he did have were his sisters and brothers, and besides Artemis they were all older, or SO much younger. Calixte was the perfect young female to meet on a day such as this.
"Old man?!" his eyes went wide as she dashed off, leaving him sitting there with wounded pride. He couldn't have been much older than her--- "HEY! he yelled, realizing she had meant it as a distraction. It had worked, and he cursed at being controlled so well by her so early.
He gave chase shortly after, kicking up dust and debris from the forest floor as he followed and made to catch up. It was nice running at full speeds, especially with such a nice prize to be hunted down. Yes, he was SUCH a man when he thought about her, and he blushed at the thoughts as his eyes were locked firmly on her as she ran, perfectly formed.
She was, unfortunately, the first non-related female he had had contact with, and he was secretly hoping that this wouldn't be the last he saw of her.

Calixte couldn't believe her great fortune at finding a new friend. Oh how she missed the days of complete and utter freedom, rolling with Rend and Maim and otherwise having a great little puppy hood. How she missed the great moments within Pandemonium, how she missed the carefree days of her youth and the games she used to play with Juude and her step-siblings.
Lately everything had been quiet, serious and incredibly lonely.
But today was not like the other days. Today she had found a handsome stranger and a new friend! Today she cold be carefree and silly and not have to worry about where she ran and whom she bumped in to. Oh no, today she could be herself and have a companion in the process. . . .
A new friend. And one she hoped to meet again even after they parted ways. Too often wolves came in and out of her life; too often she met one and they disappeared soon after. Calixte was secretly latchy and forever desirous of attention and afraid of being alone. She had been abandoned as a pup and such nightmares followed the petite femme in every walk of her life.
Even as close to an adult as she was, she still feared the lonliness. . . still feared having no one, having nothing and being placed with her shadow as her only companion once again. So she had to cherish this meeting, just in case it very well might be their last. Dodging through the underbrush, the pale coated female stole glances behind her every now and then, making sure the dark furred male was indeed following. "Still back there?" She called out, her laughter ringing out once again as they chased.
For awhile she kept up ahead, not allowing the male to draw close. But she grew weary of such a game, and slowed her pace, giving him time to catch up, curious to see what direction their game of chase would take.

"Of course I am, Darlin'!" he called back gleefully. He noticed she was slowing, and in turn slowed himself down. There was no sense in running all willy nilly over the sweet little female and possibly hurting the both of them.
As he got closer, Halcyon sped up to pass her, licking her cheek in the pass-by. He was unsure as to how she would react, but he still dared to go through with the flirtatious action.
I could leave home... join her where she makes her own home... Wishful thinking, maybe, but he couldn't help himself. He had to break out of the home pack some time, or... or maybe she would come with him to his home?
Either way, he couldn't bring himself to leave her side. Not this sun, at least. Unless that lick got him on her bad side, and then... oh geez.

"OF course I am, Darlin'!"
Darling~!! Oh, oh, oh he had just called her darling! Calixte was instantly upon cloud nine, a great smile breaking through her features and causing the petite wolfess to absolutely beam. Of course, he was behind her and had yet to see such radiance but if Calixte thought her smile couldn't get any broader, she was wrong.
Turning her head so as to see what the brown wolf was up to, it was there that his tongue passed along her cheak.
He licked her.
Oh gods, he licked her! Her very first kiss, even if it were on the cheek persay, but by golly he was flirting with her! With her! Of all the wolves in the world he might know, with all he passed, for some reason he was being so sweet. . . and to a practical stranger!
Now, that meant he liked her or was a roving male. . . but no roving male could be so charming! Not at all! Delirious with delight, Calixte couldn't help but laugh and giggle. While she had been slowing down so as not to lose the brown wolf, he was now in front of her and still racing. Practically lost in a haze, smitten by the charming wolf before her, the little wolfess found her stamina and took off once again.
"And where do you think you're going!?" She laughed, leaning forward to n** gently at his tail. "You can't just lick a girl and run away you know. . ." Feeling her nose burn, but wanting nothing more than to spend more and more time with the wolf she added, "Come back and face the consequences!" It wasn't really a threat, and Calixte was far from angry. Part of her hoped he kept running else she act foolish and demand another lick. . . but then again, to pounce on the fluffy lug might also be a little fun. Just one more touch. . . .
Not only did she like him, but she was affection starved. Yes, she had Pendmonium, but lately they'd been scarce and she needed something, someone to give her silent reassurances. Someone to let her know she wasn't alone, abandoned or worst of all, unwanted. And though Halcyon had only given her a little lick. . .it was something she instantly wanted more of.

The grin on Halcyon's face was bigger and brighter than the sun, now. She had taken well to his lick, and was goading him back to her to face some pretty dire consequences! He couldn't wait.
As she nipped at his tail, he tucked it close to his body and banked left, turning himself around to watch her pass, hopefully before she could slow herself down. She was pretty, and he drank in the image of her as she ran. It as as if he were in a dream. "Oh I can't, can I?" he smirked as he panted, letting his tongue loll lazily from the side of his maw. It had been a very nice run, and he felt happier than he had in a while. He was excited about her playful threat, and waited as patiently as he could for her.
He shook himself out, fluffing up more. He had inherited his mountain wolf father's thick coat, and it made him appear bigger than he was, as well as making him soft and always in a happy sort of comfort when he slept.
He stared at her shyly, intently, as he awaited her next move.

Calixted hadn't expected him to turn, and as he had expected, she did skid past him as she threw on the brakes. Still full of laughter, it didn't take long for the spotted femme to whirl around, her own sides heaving from breathlessness. Her eyes glittered in delight as she studied the large male before her; even without his father's plush coat, Calixted was a very petite female, her first months of malnourishment and neglect as a pup taking a permanent toll upon her physique.
Still, she was healthy now despite being small and she wasn't entirely sure what she was going to do to this Halcyon. Her tail wagged happily behind her as she stepped forward, canting her head to the side as if she were mulling over her decision. "You're in for it now," she threatened mildly, a playful growl entering her words. "There'll be no kiss and running when I'm around," she added, stalking forward.
Though she looked as if she knew what her next move might be, honestly the young femme hadn't a clue. Her mind and heart were both racing, having never expected to meet such a stranger whom might pique her intrigue so heavily. Step by step, ready to bolt if he decided to take up again, the pale femme quite suddenly pounced, wrapping her front paws loosely about his shoulders and using him to balance herself in an upright position. This way he couldn't run away so easily (as she knew she'd have no chance of tackling him to the ground). Pressing her nose against his own she added coyly, "This is how it's properly done, you know. . . " And with that, she reached out and gave him a lick upon his own muzzle but made no move to run or let him go.
Not yet at least.

As she pretended to threaten, he pretended to be fearful of these consequences. The game was fun, and he enjoyed it thoroughly as she sauntered up to him and chastised him for kissing and running.
"I'm deeply sorry for that," he played along, bowing his head in apology. It was exciting to see her stalking him, and his legs shook just a bit, just as his head swam.
When she pounced, his eyes went wide, and his ears pricked forward. The 'hug' he found himself in made him feel warm and happy, and he closed his eyes to revel in it. It was a complete surprise when she licked his muzzle, her nose pressed against his. A smile crept across his maw and he returned the kiss, gently flopping himself to the ground, letting her 'tackle' him.
The big male had been caught, and he never wanted to be let free again.

Calixte could have sworn she melted in to a puddle of goo, both as he flopped down with her atop of him and with yet a second little wolf kiss. Oh, her heart was all a flutter and she couldn't understand why. She'd never felt so giddy and carefree before; she never felt so drawn to another, a practical stranger even. . . . It was crazy and delightful all at once!
Settling atop of Halcyon, enjoying how comfortable she was against his plush coat and enjoying his scent so close, she made a point to get comfortable. For being so slight and petite, she wasn't very heavy and never would be particularly large or intimidating. But the joy she found staring down at this handsome stranger was invigorating and something she wasn't ready to give up so swiftly.
Calixte adored contact and didn't want to let such affection go so soon. "Well then. . . " She murmured, suddenly finding herself speechless and unsure what to say or do next. Was this how Bindi felt when she was with Dax. . ? Was this living for a moment, a soon to be memory in the making or was this something else. . something new? Was she being a fool getting so much joy out of this strangers companionship or was this destiny?
Who knew. . . . But as long as she stayed settled upon him, he couldn't so swiftly get away. "Looks like you're stuck here for good."

Halcyon let out a deep laugh, straight from his gut. "Good, Darlin', because there's no way I ever wanna get up." he admitted honestly. He gave her another small kiss, and stayed still as she got comfortable. When she was settled, he wraps his paws around her. "Gotcha!"
He'd stay here forever if at all possible. There was no point in moving now, he was so happy, and he could tell she was also very happy. "I think we should stay this way forever." he grinned and playfully nibbled on her ear.
He contemplated singing to her again. He loved singing, and wolves seemed to love listening. He felt it was a strong point for him, besides his soft fluffy fur.

Calixte really was content to lie happily upon this stranger. Funny how they'd only just met and yet she felt insanely comfortable around him. Was it just because he was giving her such singular attention. . .? Was it just because he made her laugh? Was it his eyes, his voice, his fur. . .? Honestly, the pale wolfess didn't know. But there was some strange attraction and connection to Halcyon and the young one felt delighted and overwhelmed all at once.
What was this that they had going. . .? Heavy flirtation? If she got up and went home to Bindi and Dax would everything end? Was this but a dream? Ugh. . . . she just plum didn't know. Her head was over whelmed but it was strangely delightful. . .
Tail wagging behind her, she wrapped it loosely with his own and studied him. "I think you'd get awfully uncomfortable if I stayed perched like this. Forever's an awful long time, you know. . . " Reaching over she pressed her nose against his, eyes glittering with delight. "But I'm sure we could com to some sort of compromise. . . "

The male grunted happily, loving on her, washing his tongue over her ear, nuzzling anything he could mate his nose to. "I'm willing to sacrifice forever, to stay with you." he became serious. He let himself admit how he felt, these last few hours had been heaven.
"Compromise works too, dear." he closed his eyes momentarily, letting the image of her gorgeous eyes wash over his mind. She was perfect, and he wanted to stay with her, wherever she went.

Her heart soared and Calixte couldn't lose the stupid smile from her features. In fact, she hardly knew what to do, where to look, what to think. . . Did she stare at him? Was that polite? Did she avert her gaze like the delicate thing she was . . .? Did she get off him so he could properly breathe again? Did she see this as something more than flirtation or . . . or . . . .
Her mind was a whirlwind and she canted her head ever so slightly as he spoke. Sacrifice forever. . . .? Just for her. . .? The petite thing gave a little shake of her head as she buried her face against his neck. This was all happening so fast and she felt completely out of control with the situation. Though she'd always been an affectionate female, always doing her best to please her pack and family, always doing her best to make her friends smile she'd never done something like this before.
In fact, she didn't even entirely understand what this was. . . ?
Though she enjoyed the attention and ministrations of the male before her, the swiftness of their friendship was causing her to panic. Ears flattening briefly while he lay beneath her, eyes closed, Calixte found anxiety chaining her spirit and pulling her roughly down to reality. Giving the male one last little lick and nuzzle, she grudgingly pulled herself back to her paws and hopped over him.
"At least you can breathe properly again," she laughed softly, though the smile wasn't quite as large as it had been before. Averting her gaze, giving her coat a small shake, the spotted femme suddenly found herself feeling awkward and very very small.
". . . " She wanted to say something, to speak, but had no words. Part of her feared driving him off if she actually called him out on the sincerity of his words; serious as he had sounded, surely he couldn't mean that. . . They were practically strangers, and though her heart wanted nothing more than to soar and for her to bridge the distance she'd forced between them. . . she couldn't.
She had a pack to return to. . . though right now that was the last thing she wanted. Still, she had duties to them, just as she was sure this male before her had with his own. Furthermore, despite hanging out together for these few hours, playing, laughing, chasing . . . they still were but strangers.
Fairy tales didn't come true so swiftly. . . did they? "Halcyon I . . . . I'm sorry," she apologized, voice falling quiet as she stared at her paws. She wasn't sure what she was apologizing for but it just felt like it needed to be said. "I guess I can only take so much good humor. . . you might actually convince me it's true if you're not careful," she added with another small forced laugh, though she continued to keep her eyes averted.
And it couldn't be true. . . . Much as she wished it to be.
