I would preffer tax cuts across the board. I don't like taxing the rich any more than any other citizen is paying, I find it takes the incentive out of becoming rich, economically prosperous, and it hurts the economy. The more money people have, the more money people are likely to spend. Why limit people on how much success they can acheive?

I would however, encourage charities.

Charlie Wilsons War was an excellent movie! Its actually one of my favorites. Vietnam, my opinion of it is that we really lucked out with them.. However, the people we're dealing with now aren't like Vietnamese people at all.

King - I agree, we should've helped them.. Our endgame in Charlie Wilsons War sucked. We should've helped them get back on their feet, and educate them.. It's partially why I think that we can't just up and leave this war.. They came back to haunt us. They may very well keep coming back to us, only stronger everytime. In my opinion anyways.

Its ironic to think that a democrat of all people that messed that up.

Not to point fingers at any one political, but who is really to blame? To me they both messed up. -.-;;

Don't blame all of us politicians. Some, like me, actually work to change things for the better.

As for your economics argument, King, you're quite right. If our economy collapses, we'll no longer be able to support a world class military, and will thus become weak. It's unacceptable for America to flush its primary source of power, its economy, down the drain.

As it stands, we're losing corporations who think only of the bottom line to nations like China. Let's face it, America cannot drop costs as low as China, Africa, or other developing nations can. We need to focus on our strong suits, not other nations' strong suits. Building infrastructure for advanced industries that nations like China can't afford to get into is where we can build up. That'll allow us to dominate China et al for a long time to come. For that, we need the tax revenue for the gov't.
