The sun was warm on Roma's back, even during this cold season. The foot of snow on the ground was starting to melt, the trees clear and naked, the birds singing. Perhaps winter was over? Roma especially hated winter- it was such a cold and lean time, especially for a rogue like herself. She had broken apart from her brother and mother, Clarence and Anya, in hopes of starting a new life. She felt too restricted with her family and much cared for the freedom of wandering. Only, no one told her how hard it was to hunt by one's self.

A dark ocean green eye cracked open. She was curled on a large rock, sun bathing. But suddenly the warmth dissapered. Large, ouvercasting clouds were arriving in the distance, and already light flakes of snow fell from the sky.

The young she wolf frowned. She would need to find cover from the storm. A lovely day had been ruined again.

Otashii raced after the skinny hare, tongue hanging from his mouth as he tried to catch up to it. How long had it been since he had even this much to eat? The hare took a sharp turn and his eyes darted, trying to follow it's every move. It was a little hard with the hare being white and all, though some of it's winter fur had started to shed and he could see a light brown near it's bottom.

It only took another moment before he was tumbling to the ground, rabbit in his jaws. His tail beat against the ground as he sat up, the skinny hare hung limp in his mouth. It would hardly fill him up, but it was a start.

He blinked as it seemed the very air around him began to grow cold and he worriedly looked toward the sky; it was snowing. Again. While sometimes a good romp around in the icey flakes was fun he was growing tired of the long, cold season. He quickly rose on his paws and shook his fur a little, holding his prize securely as he began to move across the earth in a quick trot, head turning left and right as he looked for a place he could hunker down in to wait out the snow.

His nostrils flared as he started to catch a sent of another, and he just spotted a large tree with what seemed to be a den hallowed out at it's roots. He wondered if it was currently occupied, and if the wolf he was smelling was a threat or not.

Roma moved off her rock in search of a better place to stay through the storm. Her head low, she search for somewhere warm, covered and snow resistant. The flakes were beginning to fall more frequently now, and the sun had been fully eclipsed by the dark, overbearing snow clouds. Every where she look a den was either occupied or smelled of death. She went deeper into the forest to continue her search.

The smell of blood and another wanderer wafted towards her. Perhaps another rogue made a kill. The scent of prey made her mouth tingle, but the idea of meeting a strange wolf, and trying to persuade to share some meat didn't seem very doable to her, to she tried to avoid the wolf all together, still searching for a place to say.

She rounded a large tree only to find the thing that she had been avoiding. A large red and black wolf stood with a hare hanging from his mouth. Her tracking skills must be less than desirable ... Between the two of them was a den out of roots.

Roma, needed a place to stay, that much wasn't negotiable. She lowered her head, eyeing the male suspiciously while she attempted to slink into the den unnoticed, and be the first to occupy it.

As he was looking around he didn't spot the she-wolf headed toward the den he'd found. But when he looked back to the den and his eyes landed on her he frowned, almost dropping his precious prey. For a moment he wondered if it was her den but the way she was slinking made it seem less than likely.

He padded toward her, slowly, and tried to make a noise in his throat to get her attention.

After a short moment he placed the dead hare in the snow in front of him. "Hey!" He stated, though not angrily. "I found this place first.." His thinking of the situation seemed to be very childish. His gaze flicked to the sky for only a moment, it looked as if a bad storm was going to come. "Er..." He guessed it would be right for him to just leave the den to the female, but he didn't want to have to find another spot. "Do you think I can share this space with you, until the storm lets up?" His tone was becoming more friendly, he generally didn't have a problem being outgoing.

(hehe, sorry- my family just returned <3 )

Phew- she made it. Roma breathed out a sigh of relief as she curled herself up in the warm, earthy den. But the calls of the red wolf told her she had not gone unnoticed. She grimaced, and stuck her head out of the narrow passage way.

"yeah, but I was here first," she argued, dark eyes always watching the male. Her mother had always told her to avoid rogues- especially male rogues. She had heard stories of attacks, even rape. Yet, this male seemed innocent, friendly and outgoing. Was it a guise? The gray and cream wolf narrowed her eyes, tip ear cocked in questioning. "You can stay here...only if you share that rabbit." Perhaps a bargain would dissuade him from sharing the den.

He frowned as he debated with himself if he should just move on or if he should share the rabbit that was hardly a meal for him alone. After a few moments he figured it might take him hours to find another den and he could go another day being hungry, he'd rather be in a dry warm spot and hungry then hungry and hunting for a new dry, warm spot.

He leaned down and picked up the rabbit, trotting toward the den. He slipped inside, placing the rabbit down and moving away from her, sitting. He watched her for a moment and decided it wouldn't do just to be sour at the female for 'stealing' his spot and then bargaining with his meal. "Tell you what, you can have it." He said pleasently, offering her a friendly smile. He could hunt tomorrow, when it wasn't snowing.

"And thank you for sharing, most rogues I know wouldn't allow a stranger into their found spot, bargain or not." He said and chuckled, slightly amused. "But we can change the strangers part, mm? My name is Otashii!"

Roma was surprised that the rogue would give up the meal. Usually competition for food during this season was harder than competition for homes. But with the foreboding storm, she didn't blame him. Her fur prickled as he entered the den, a loner's life had made her much warier than she had been. Not as outgoing, would the word "cold" be acceptable? She pondered for a moment. This red wolf seemed kind, outgoing, friendly- and she frowned at herself for thinking so badly about him. Roma let her guard down, trusting enough to be friendly. She pulled back from the entrance, curling into a ball in the opposite corner of the tight space.

"Really?" Her tail beat the ground lightly at the anticipation of the meal. "Isn't it hard for you to hunt with that bright coat?"

She sniffed the rabbit. I was weak, thin, but enough of a meal to fill her rumbling stomach for now. Her teeth gingerly pulled the fur and skin off, and then the meat, and then crunching the bones. She made quick work of the small meal, in a very distinguished lady like manor. Nothing was left- and felt guilty for it.

"I'll catch you one after the storm, promise," she said, licking her white maw clean of rabbit blood, "but I didn't think a rogue would be so willing to let up a meal!" The female laughed lightly. "Nice to meet you Otashi," Roma shortened the last syllable, rather than say it in the cute fashion he had presented it, "I'm Roma."

Just as she finished her sentence, a large guest of wind howled outside the den. Cold blew in, along with large flakes. Roma glanced outside...This wasn't just a snow storm- this was a blizzard! The snow fell rapidly as the wind continued to scream violently. Roma clung to the den wall and shivered.

"What a storm, huh?"
