I looked Charlie straight in the eyes. "Im getting married." I said strongly. Charlie was stunned for a moment, then fire lit into his eyes. I started to feel a ache in my stoumach, scared of what was going to happen next. "YOU ARE NOT GETTING MARRIED!" He screeched. Suddenly like a fire was lit under neath me I snapped back " AND WHO'S GOING TO STOP ME?"

Charlies face went blank, he stood there with his mouth hanging open. I felt bad about saying that. I had already put him through that torture once, and I was very close to doing it again. I loved Edward, I would do anything for him, even leave my family. which was what I was already planning on doing.

"You really think so sweetie?" Charlie asked quietly, his face paling back into his normal shade of skin as he had turned purple through all the yelling.
"I know so Dad."
He paused, actually seemingly to think this thoroughly through.
"Have you talked about this with Jake?" He asked finally, as he picked at the pudding he had been about to eat with a fork.
"No..." trailing off miserably...it looked like Charlie wasn't going to give in anytime soon and it was ten to nine. Edward had said he would be here at 9.

My eyes narrowed. Why was he waiting outside? Certaintly, he wasn't scared of Charlie. No, that wasn't it. He should have just come inside. I really could have used the support, especially now.

I turned back to the phone in front of me.

I had to make this call. Why was I so afraid? I had already overcome the hardest obstacle: telling Charlie. Mom and I were close, and she understood the relation ship between Edward and I. Certainly this would much easier.

Even so, I continued to stare at the white plastic of the reciever, the light from the kitchen reflecting my nervous reflection back at me.

I stopped stalling and dialed my mother's number. She picked up on the third ring.

"Hello?"

"Mom?"

"Bella!" She cried into the reciever. "Oh, what a nice surprise for you to call! Wait, is something wrong? We usually talk through our emails." Her tone was nervous.

"No, no, mom. Everything's fine."

"Oh, that's good." She paused. "So, why are you calling?"

I let out a snort. I came out slightly fake even to me. "Can't I call my own mother to talk once in a while?"

There was another pause. "Why are you calling, Bella?" Her tone shifted to curious.

I sighed. "Ok, mom, you got me. I actually have some news for you." I waited for a reply.

"Oh! What is it? Is it something good? Or something..bad?"

"It's good. really good. Honest." I inhaled deeply to clear my head.

"Well, alright then. What is it?"

I exhaled dramatically. How was I going to say this? Should I just come out and say this? It might be better to just make it quick. Like ripping off a band-aid.

I turned to face the window again. The Volvo just sat there, in all it's beauty, across the street. it gave me comfort, but only temporarily. I turned to face the wall again.

"Bella?" My mother's impatient voice sounded through the phone.

"Um, yes. Sorry I was distracted."

"Well?"

"Well...I..." I paused. "You see, it concerns me and..."

"Do it, Bella." Edward's velvet voice caught me by surprise. I stared into his eyes, and they seemed reassuring. "You can do it. I'm here."

My confidence boosted at that point. I gripped the phone harder in my hands and threw my words at my mother.

"Mom, I'm getting married. To Edward." I sounded out my words to make sure I was clear enough.

Another pause. "Bella is this a joke?"

"No, mom, it isn't. I really am engaged to Edward."

"Bella," she moaned. "Think about this! You are so young!"

"I'm not that far away from when you got married."

"Look how that turned out!"

"Mom, I love Edward, and he loves me. We are ready for the next step, and I really need your support. Please, mom. You are the only person I can really count on to understand."

"What did Charlie say?"

"Charlie was fine...after some talking and yelling, of course. But he's ok about it now. Really."

I heard her sigh. "Bella...I'm not sure about this."

"You have no reason not to be. You saw us when we visited. We love each other. You saw that. I really want to marry him, mom. You know how much of a stretch that is for me. Especially me."

She let out a soft chuckle. "Bella, sometimes you are too much like me. I really hope you know what you're doing."

I felt Edward's hand on my shoulder. I looked into his soft, golden eyes. They were so full of emotion.

"I'm sure."

AHHH!! this is getting so good!

The next day, Renee called. She told me that she couldn't remember the date I had told her.
"July 26th Mom, that's all I really know about it right now."
"July?! Bella, that's only a month away! Why so soon?" she asked, surprised. She obviously hadn't listened well last night. I sighed.
"Well, I didn't really pick it. Edward's sister is planning everything. I just barely found out the date yesterday."
"Oh, honey. I still can't believe your getting married! You've been through so much with this boy, are you sure you want to marry him?"
"Yes, Mom. I really do love him! I don't know what I'd do without him."
"Ok honey, I guess I'll just talk to you later. Love you."
"Love you too mom, bye."
I hung up the phone, and turned to look out the window, just in time to see Alice's car, the yellow Porsche, pull up to the house.

"Edward?" I choked out again, getting louder. If he was close by, I knew he would hear me. Then why wasn't he replying? I started getting panicky.

"Edward!!" I was screaming now. Panic was clear in my voice. How could everything break at the same time? I felt like I could burst out in tears.

The darkness. The darkness...without Edward. I ran up to my room, hoping with one last hope, he could be up there. I searched my closet, every last corner in my room. Nothing.

"Edward!!!" I screamed louder. Who would take him? Why would someone take him? Only one person...or persons came to my mind. The Volturi...But why? That didn't make sense. They wouldn't come to check on me by taking Edward...would they?

I ran downstairs and tried turning on the lights. Again, nothing. Charlie would be home any minute. How would I explain the disappearance? I remembered Alice in her Porche. I ran outside, hoping to find her, but it was gone. Everything gone, without a trace.

"Edward..." I said silently to myself and broke into tears. My one true love, gone. My other half, gone. Why? Someone had to be trying to hurt me in an unusual way.

I felt a cold touch to my cheek and turned to my left, he wasn't there. Then my right. Not there either.

"Edward." I whispered and then woke up.

Edward was there, next to me, over the covers, holding me. He was looking at me with a worried expression.

"Edward!" I smiled in relief and hugged him. His ice sculpture body never felt to perfect.
