Salwar kameez + Dupatta = <3

Personally, though, I like Sherwanis and wouldn't mind going around in those.

The costume I'm making is pretty similar to salwar kameez, with a touch of military thrown in (jacket with mandarin collar added in). I haven't decided on colors, and hell, it doesn't look like I'll be able to afford the fabric.

I'd go with the sherwani, actually, DD. First of all, you'll be less likely to get harassed for cross-dressing, which unfortunately is a problem in most neighborhoods (the harassment is the problem, not the cross-dressing). Plus, you can often buy a fully made sherwani for a slightly lower price than you can buy the fabric and notions to make your own. Since the workmanship and detailing will probably also be more pleasing to you, that might be the way to go. Also, you'll be employing someone in an impoverished nation, and that always feels good.

Baruch Mordechai! Arur Haman! (Nope, I'm still too sober. Back to the liquor, until I can't tell the difference between blessing Mordechai and cursing Haman.) cheese_whine

By the way, my Purimburgers were a hit. I made the buns from doughnuts, the meat from brownies (mostly-cooked, then smooshed into patty shapes), the lettuce from green cake icing spread thinly, the mustard and ketchup from yellow and red squiggles of cake decorator's gel, onions from little white sprinkles. Then I put French fries -- made of sweet potatoes instead of regular, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar instead of salt. I put them into Happy Meal boxes, which I got from a McDonald's, specifically asking if I could have some from an unopened sleeve of the Happy Meal boxes, and they were sweet enough to give them to me.

I hope everyone's Shabbat went beautifully. Mine certainly did. About half an hour before Shabbat, my RLSO finally figured out why our heating system wasn't working, so we finally spent a night in warm comfort. Baruch Hashem! It gave me a new appreciation for what the houseless go through every night. I'm creating a tzedakah (charity/justice) box for donations to local homeless shelters, and I'll be placing a few coins in it before each time I pray.
