Uncerted imageTwilight had just descended across the land, turning the last vestiges of light to a golden, reddish color. Enjoying the sweet breeze in an easy stroll along the beach was Yáax, a rather tropical looking b'alam. His bright fur always made him extra visible at night, but the young adult did not consider it a disadvantage unless he happened to be engaged in a game of hide and seek.
His human companion, Lakin, was busy mending his fish net and was therefore unavailable for play. As the b'alam listened to the waves gently lapping at the sands, every so often Yáax would stop and scan the beach for movement. Late night swimmers, fishers, or other animals were not uncommon in these parts.

Nataani was fighting off the urge for another nap. What was the best way to do that? Playing, of course. She'd stalked bugs for a while. Now she was off to attack the beach. Or possibly others on it. When she spotted Yaax, she lit up, but she didn't charge him. Oh no. She fell in behind him and did her best to match his foot steps, intending only to walk where he walked. Given that his legs were longer, she ended up bounding from spot to spot, and dragging her tail when she launched herself. She was busily trying to figure out how to take off without leaving a tail mark when he stopped, she lept, and bounced off his flank. "Oof!"

Yáax startled and stumbled forward as he felt something connect with his flank. The b'alam whirled around to see what it was, his paws flinging sand in all directions. He spotted a younger cub nearby and realized that he hadn't even caught her scent over the smell of the sea breeze. "That was a clever trick, sneaking up on me like that. I bet you're a good hunter," he chuckled, thinking of his own failures at hunting. Yáax had discovered early on that he would never quite master the skill. He did not have the patience to quietly stalk prey, and it seemed that he made the most noise whenever he was trying to keep quiet.

She was doing her best to recover her dignity. While dodging flung sand. She had a bit in her whiskers and some on the tip of one ear, but she Would Not Flick. "I am," she boasted. "I'm good at staying in shadows and then jumping out. You wouldn't be a very good shadow."

"No," he agreed, grinning. "Not a good shadow at all. More like a beacon." Yáax was happy that he had found someone to share the evening with. Someone, he realized, who had been hit by particles of sand that he had tossed around by mistake. "Oh, sorry about that.. Here, let me get it," he said, reaching out with a gentle paw to wipe the sand away.

The agile B'alam crept in the bushes just before the beach, watching the others quietly. She hadn't really met any others, and didn't know how she was to introduce herself. Instead, Mahala tried to blend as well as she could in the darkness, not doing the best of jobs.

((Temper: Poised and Path: Night))Teo tossed and turned in his feather bed, looking like and overgrown giant in the bed he had outgrown. The faint glow from the sun began to slowly disappear from his bright blue fur, the night would soon follow. His eyelids lifted as soon as the Sun hid behind the mountains, his yellow spheres seemingly glowing in the dim light. He began his everyday routine, a stretch, yawn, and finally a preen to start off the evening.
Licking his muzzle he decided to leave the safety of his bed by the hut and head off to the ocean's edge, he so loved to watch the calm water moving serenly in his spare time and it would give him opportunity to reflect on himself and life in general. He walked at his usual pace, slow and steady, not eagerly dashing for what would he be looking forward to? He had only met a few other b'alamb and he wasn't really the social type to talk nonstop about random topics.
Finally he reached the sandy shores, the soft sand being pushed beneath every step he took until he stopped right before the rippling water. He kept a few inches away from it as he layed down, careful of the tide. His eyes watched it slowly for a minute before he driffted off, his vision no longer focusing on the water but rather something in his mind materializing in the space before him.

Nataani wrinkled her muzzle and squirmed, but let Yaax wipe the sand away with all the patience she could muster before she hopped backward. "It's a beach. Sand's everywhere. Some has to get on me sometimes!"

"I guess you're right," Yáax admitted. Looking around, he spotted two other forms that he hadn't noticed before: a blue male laying by the water and something white in the bushes. The male looked like he wanted to be left alone, so Yáax decided to go and investigate the bushes. "Look over there," he indicated to his little friend and then began trotting towards the bushes.

Mahala stared at the green B'alam as it started toward her. Should she run? She didn't exactly want to stay, but her longing for company got the better of her. The female stayed put, and sighed as she waited to be approached.
