Teague the Druid I once had this plate of cheeses in Europe- absolutely amazing. Even the buffalo cheese. It's the most dynamic food in the world. It's a delicious, vegetarian source of fat, calcium, and protien. It's the solidification and artful manipulation of the food that all mammals are meant to ingest, and which humans (or most of them) have evolved to ingest even into adulthood. It is a uniquely human food.
The Hindu's have long recognize the divine properties of dairy- namely butter, yogurt, milk, and cheese. It is my belief that great mythological the ocean of churning milk that brought immortality to the Devas and Asuras was actually a large wheel of holy cheese. By this interpretation, it is literally the food of the gods. (Joke)
Bravo! Well said, friend! ::nodsnods:: Giant Holy Cheese Wheel eh? Well, it'd naturally hafta have been Swiss (get it? HOLY?!?! (oh, Gawd I'm so cheesy (D'OH-- I did it again!!!)!)). And Europe= Cheese Lover's Paradise. Ooooh, yes. You know, the first time I had brie was actually IN France.. on the one and only trip I ever took out of the US. It opened up a whole new world of Awesome-- that of the Soft Cheeses. Mmmm, mmm, mmMMM!!

Also, please note that there are many beliefs in many different cheeses other than the Hindu one, and no one way is has the monopoly. The guddhists believe that all cheeses can become a gouda through heavy meditation. There are many other wheys to worship the divine. xd
I actually was in Italy, but their cuisine isn't anything you want to turn down either. Italy and France have a lot of the same things going for them, like art and wine.

There's actually a thread in ED talking about dairy right now. They say milk in more rural, less industrialized countries is better because they have less additives and hormones, though they are still usually pasteurized, I think. Big business milks the cows while they're pregnant to increase production, so there's more female hormones in it here.
Still, it's way safer than it was before pasteurization, and we've been drinking it for ages before then.

My favorite cheese is longhorn cheese! It goes great with french bread and cured meat! What sends me into a cheese frenzy? when I have all the supplies to go on a trip! It's gotta smell good though and not leave a funny aftertaste
