So, who all plays in the pit, what do you play, what part and what musical are you doing.

This year, our musical is Rodger's and Hammerstein's Carousel.
I play trumpet II, normally i play trumpet I, but a local band director asked to play int the pit before it was opened up to students. If anyone reading this is from shik and has Mr. Kary, i pitty you sooooo bad. (the little nazi kept me from making districts)

I played Viola I (kinda) in Darn Yankees! XP, the school officially changed the name... but the show was last weekend and now it's over! crying

I played my music for the first time today... 6 freakin sharps, on a trumpet, thats murder, then they trow in some double sharps just for fun, oh, and we're gonna flat your a sharp and make you go "Hwuh?!?!?!"

XP, yes. We only had 6 sharps for a little bit though... most of it was in 5 flats or sharps. My theory is... why not instead write 5 flats in 2 and write everything down a step? Just my theory.

I'm currently playing in my school's pit orchestra. I play clarinet and I play the bass clarinet, too, as this year's music has them in the same book, so parts never overlap.
There's only one clarinet part, so I play that. This year we're doing Beauty and the Beast, which is really cool so far. The music is REALLY hard, though. It's the actual score used in the movie and on broadway, so we're playing professional level music... so hard!!
We have a lot of 6 sharp parts, as well. And it's really high, and for runs. It's brutal.

Our musical this year is Cole Porter's Kiss Me, Kate. Opening night is actually tomorrow. Anyways, I'm playing 1st clarinet, 2nd flute, and 2nd alto sax. The key signatures aren't that bad. The problem for me is switching instruments about twelve times in a three minute song.

Our musical finished a few weeks ago, we did Oklahoma. I played the flute/piccolo part. And they really love going crazy with the sharps for musicals, don't they? XP
