Toxicaust
It reeks of Y2K.

It ain't gonna happen.
Y2K happened, and so will Y2K38.

But I actually agree with the chips thing. I have them in my cats, and my sister has one in her artificial foot. The chip in her foot is because she has memory loss from a crash, and she's found herself hundreds of miles from her destination, with no phone or anything.

The chip isnt active until we call a number to contact the center. They then triangulate the signal, and we cna find her.

I dont believe that Zeitgeist is a very accurate portrayl of what is going on.

Honestly. Take a moment to think about it. The author constantly escapes from reality, as well as the mental home he is forced to stay in.

i agree with toxie.

[although i have no
idea what y2k is...]
the north american
union sounds too
unreal.

maybe it's just like
an alliance, not really
actually combining us.

i don't know.
somehow, i think most
of the people i know
wouldn't be too happy
joining mexico to the us.

however, the chips.
something in me doesn't
really doubt that might
happen.
it reminds me of gattaca.
and life as shown in gattaca
could be perfectly possible.

Y2K was this mass hysteria over the rumor that when the year 2000 rolled around, every computer in the world would shut down [i think it had something to do with them not being programmed for "the year 2000", so instead they were going to "year 0000". Some such crap.] I believe it was even reported on the news.

Anyway, people believed it. People freaked. People went into the stores and stocked up on bottled water and canned food. People prepared themselves for the apocalypse.

And on January 1st, 2000, at 12:00 am, nothing happened.

But at least Y2K didn't make a leader into a demon, as everyone is so fond of doing to George Bush nowadays. rolleyes It's ******** low, and the public swallows it down.

Lrn2internets. Y2K never fully happened to the world because there was enough foresight done to prevent it. Updates and fixes were implemented to work around this problem of 16-bit programming.
Y2K38 is the same thing, but for 32bit environments.
64bit environments will falter in the year Y300K, approximately.

Well, if that's true, then couldn't they do the same thing for all those other years?

And couldn't they do the same thing for this nonsense, assuming it IS true? Bush leaves the White House this year. What's to stop the next president from calling this whole thing off? He has the power then, and if WinterBean is right, the thing hasn't even been signed yet.

And the president doesn't have the power to do anything without the approval of Congress [correct me if i'm wrong]. Let alone something this huge.

It's not realistic.

Which is why x64 processors and operating systems are being pushed into the market, and why one of the many reasons why 64bit systems are becoming more and more valuable.

Whoever is the next president will more than likely remove this from effect, as they want to get the approval of all the naysayers and the conspiracy theorists before they start on their own agenda.

The president does have the ability to do somethings with out Congress's approval, but if I remember correctly, this is not one of them. I dont think that unions with our neighbors are considered to be "emergency powers" warranted.

Nice chatting with you ladies, but I need to go throw up now. Terribly sick.
