The sun was just beginning to rise as Raleigh arrived at the edge of the sand. The darkness to the west was beginning to disappear as that harsh fiery ball began peeking from the east, turning the edge of the sky pink and grey. It was very early but lately Raleigh had been finding it remarkably difficult to sleep. So today, instead of tossing and turning for hours, he had risen and made his way down to the ocean.
The air was crisp. Small waves crashed against the shore. The news meteorologists had promised another hot day in paradise, but for now it was delightfully cool. The calm stillness was soothing. Raleigh watched the sea, arms crossed over his chest, back rsting against a palm tree. He had dressed quickly and simply; brown t-shirt, dark green slacks and slipped on a pair of thongs (or flip-flops for you Americans!). His hair was loose across his shoulders, a few strands moving slightly when the wind brushed by.
Ever since Ruri and Ai had moved he had felt restless. Okay, so he was missing them and five calls a day simply wasn’t making the ache go away. But he would simply get used to it, because there wasn't anything he could do about it. There was a job to be done here. Raleigh scratched under his chin idly. Maybe a refreshing swim was in order? He had slipped on bathers after all. Nah, later on. Right now he was content just to watch the sun rising.

Daniel's feet pushed through the sand beneath them anxiously. They were eager to get on the board, he knew, but they would have to wait until the best surf came in. It was the beginning of a long day at the beach, and already he'd been there for a while. As the sun peeked over the horizon, he glanced at before turning away again. He wasn't wearing sunglasses -never did- so he didn't want something to happen to his eyes for looking at the large orb for too long.
He sat on the slowly-warming ground, his board resting next to him. Neither of them had any trace of water on them, so he didn't even think about whether sand would stick to him or not. Anyway, it was nothing a few waves couldn't fix. For a while, he sat staring out at the ocean. It was already calling, but he'd still wait until the promised waves appeared before launching head-on into it. For now, he occupied himself by watching them bump against the shore softly.
Wait, was that a tourist? Out of the corner of his eye, Daniel saw someone approaching. They were still a while away, but what were they doing there so early? It wasn't as though many visitors came to the beach at this hour -they were too lazy for that. Maybe someone from the island had decided totake a relaxing walk. If so, maybe it was someone he knew. ...Maybe it was time to bolt already. He sighed. If it was someone who had some horrible misconception of him, his day would probably already be ruined. Whoever it was, he just hoped that they had no idea who he was.

It was as Raleigh left his place beside the palm tree and began wandering down to the water’s edge that he realized he wasn’t alone. He stopped in his tracks, like a wary stag just coming out from the dense forest, and watched Daniel for a full minute before he continued on his way, satisfied tahe other young man was no threat to his peace. It was a little annoying that his solitude was broken, but whoever it was didn’t seem inclined to make a commotion on the beach, and so Raleigh hose to ignore him.
Reaching the sea, he let the water rush in upon his feet, reaching out for him and then receding. He smiled. The water was freezing. Running a hand through his hair his mind traveled onto what was to happen that day. Probably nothing. It was rare that he got the call to go out to ‘save the day’, especially so after that stint with Perfume. Heh. Anoter day spent training.

Something about the other teenager clicked within Dnaiel's memory. What was it? It was at the back of his mind, he knew it. But who was he? To avoid scowling at the other boy, he bit his lip. However, he could not prevent himself from staring. It seemed that the boy was headed to the water already. Maybe he could remember their relation. Or maybe if Daniel got a better look, he could figure it out himself.
He took his board with him as he ran to the water. It was time to paddle out anyway, so he might as well kill two birds with one stone. "Hey!" He called to Raleigh as he, too, reached the water. When he reached him, he spoke again. "Do I know you? I know that I've at least seen you once before."
