Insomnium is a melodic death metal band from Finland. Seeing as they're a pretty young band, they're strongly influenced by the Gothenburg scene, but no one will mistake them for metalcore; their sound is a lot like early Dark Tranquillity but with a distinct Finnish touch. Folksy, Amorphis-esque acoustic intros and bridges as well as elements of doom--slower-tempo breaks, heavy atmosphere, and the distinct monotone backing vocals--make them more than just a clone. one of my favy bands....
i really really love them a lot..
the last two albums then...the first albums are not that great...
i saw them live once and i thought it was awesome

Listening to Since The Day It All Came Down, and really liking it. Don't hear any Doom in it though.

It's really just slow, atmospheric Death Metal. A few Candlemass-esque riffs here and there, but not enough to change their genre.

lol, but really they are great, especially becuase they are the only metal band that has cds @ my library.
