I'm an Earth Science Student, and i also dabbled in Astronomy before christmas and now do Exploring the Cosmos to fill up my time...
here are a few things that completely blow my mind:
Geological Time - has given my 3 new favourite words: Hadean, Archaean, and Eon...Hadean and Archaean are the 2 earliest Eon's of Earth Geological history...Hadaean started the very MOMENT the earth was formed...4.5 billion years ago...
get your head around that girls...try and imagine what it woulda been like that then...jeez...i love it, it gets my mind racing and i feel more alive than ever when i try to comprehendn the incomprehendible...
something else that gets this sensation going:
today in Earth Science there was a picture on the screen....it was the bottom section of the Sun with the planets lined along near the bottom in order...
now this got me imagining...the Sun...this HUGE ball of gas, over 5000 Kelvin...and it's considered small as suns go...
sorry ******** ME...i love the complexity of the Universe...you cna think about it your whole life and still only barely scratch the surface.
Stephen Hawking is a legend <3
end of my rant <3

It's cool that you can get excited over things like that. <3 I'm sort'a like that with English and art. But it doesn't make me as smart as you. XD
But yeah. I just start explaining things to people like, out of nowhere. Like last night, I was on the phone with my friend Brandon, and I explained the words "homonym" and "homophone" to him. XD (How sad is it that I can say one of my best skills is speaking my native tongue?)
Art, though... One of the things that bothers me is that people see my stuff and say things like, "I wish I could draw like that!" So then I try to be nice and teach them a little, but they get bored after like, 0.2 seconds. stressed S'like, it takes a little dedication, y'know.

yeh, it's like, i was writing out my E.Cos. notes and there was this question "How can the Universe expand if it doesn't have a centre?" and in a nanosecond this thought went through my head
and when i think about ancient times when there were no defined species or anything, my mind races, it's amazing...
i like art ^^ i can kinda draw...i took Higher art, and i really do like it, i just find it hard to write about sweatdrop

Writing about art is (to me anyway) akin to putting yourself in the shoes of that stereotypical pretentious art critic. Art is highly personal, and talking about the merits and hidden meanings of it (assuming in some cases what the artist meant by it) seems to be a bit...boring. The point of the thing is to give you a new perspective, to make you think or feel something...and if you think or feel anything because of it, then that makes the artist successful more than anything else. smile
Sorry, I'm a tiny little art major. *raises hand sheepishly*

I can't educate you on astronomical facts, but I -can- educate you on sexual facts.. rofl
Like...
Did you know that men are programmed to hide their sexual needs and are programmed to "finish" quickly, because they're trying to hide the fact they're masturbating and so they finish quickly so they don't get caught? And did you know that because of that programming, it is the reason why men finish quickly in bed.. rofl
Oh, and how women are programmed to not even have sex at all? Because they were programmed that sex and masturbation are so taboo, that they end up feeling lost and confused, and so eventually they become programmed to tune it out, and eventually forget about anything like sex completely.
Yes, I am educated >.>;
