Hi all! I haven't been able to get on recently since I've been super busy! The big development in my life right now is I'm expecting my second child!!! This is super exciting and overwhelming and definitely a complete surprise, especially since this baby will be due on the same day my daughter was due last year and they may be exactly 1 year apart!

I'm going to try to get on more from now on but just wanted to share my news with yall! I also have made a few custom avis and have a new one in my signature to reflect my current situation razz Hope all you and your families are doing well!

My kids are really close like that - and baby no. 2 was a total surprise. They are 1 year and 1 month and 19 days apart. I find that it is a really hard constellation.. I have hardly any free time, and we go through SO many diapers! And it seems like I'm constantly feeding someone (they're on alternating nap schedules). And my daughter sees my son do something baby-ish that she's long since grown out of and repeating it (crawling all over the place, dropping stuff, letting food dribble down her chin and all over her shirt or the table or whatever, wanting a pacifier - something I hate, anyway, but gave in to my in-laws over in the hopes they'd watch the children for a few hours whilst husband and I went to a movie - I kept up my end of the bargain and now my kids are hooked on pacifiers, but my in-laws refused their end and claimed there was never any bargain made, just that they'd consider it if we TRY it and see how it goes - because my son was breastfed and they didn't think they'd be able to soothe him otherwise... even though that has hardly ever been a problem with him, cause he ADORES them).

Sorry about that rant. I'm just over-tired! My children are wonderful and I love them very much. I'd not trade them for anything and I cherish them both. But I do feel they are too close together, for me and the amount of energy I have (and I had wanted more time "alone" with my daughter, to focus on her and my developement as mother-daughter). I could never "give one back", though, cause I'm so crazy about them both - just exhausted!

But you sound like you're actually ready, LOL! And if your husband is really supportive, I'm sure it will not be as difficult for you. (My husband is extremely busy all the time, so I'm doing mostly everything for them by myself - and I can't just call up my mom or other family members for help, as I live across the ocean from her/them.)

My sister had 2 boys 11 months apart, and 9 years later had TWINS!

She's always said 11 months apart was HARDER than the twins.

(By the way - this too shall pass - hang in there!)

thanks everyone for your congrats and I love reading the stories of other "irish twins" as well as sibling advice in general. I haven't been able to get on gaia as much recently since I'm counting down the days to my daughter's one year birthday and my son's delivery date next week. It looks like unless my little boy decides to make an early appearance my daughter and son will be 1 year 2 days apart. I'm nervous but ready... I think . xd My main concern is that my children get along with each other and are good friends. Hope all yall moms and any dads on here as well smile are having a great summer!

Congratulations!!!

My grandma says having babies that close together is great because they help raise each other. My aunt and my mom are 11 months apart and my mom and uncle are 13 months apart. So I guess she really believed it.

I had my son last month on July 18th (1 year and 2 days after my daughter was born). He was 8lbs 4oz and 20 1/2 inches but now is 11.5 lbs and growing super fast! smile Currently I'm still getting used to being a mom of 2 and getting everyone on schedule, which is especially tough since my daughter is teething again. My daughter is only 1 but she is being a good big sister (most of the time). She actually loves to kiss her brother, pet him, and put his dirty diapers in the diaper genie. She's also very protective of him around people she doesn't know and she makes it very clear he's "her brother." I think as he gets bigger they'll get closer since she's very ready to have a playmate. heart

That is just so wonderful that she can be so sweet with him at her age! She must be a jewel. I think one of my children't hardest things to do was to share the spotlight with the newest "Oh, what a cute baby!" that wasn't them 4laugh
