Taking this straight from a t-shirt at a winterguard competition, 'You know you've been in guard too long when you believe the sentence 'One more time' is a lie'

Really, now, you believe that right? How many of you guys have heard 'One more time' 10 times AFTER it's been said once already? I know I have, and i'm just a freshman. I already will never believe the words 'One more time' again.

So anyway, you guys, how many of you are sick of 'One more time's? Or, how many of you know to be prepared for 3 more runs when you hear it? Do you care? Do you think it's funny? Is it an inside joke to all guard members around the world to you? XD

Anyway, yeah. Might as well say '20 more times', eh? :]

Yeah, I fugured out that a while ago sweatdrop

And the words "We've almost got it- one more time and we should be perfect!" is a lie, too. Its just something to keep us going.

most of my instructors were like that. Except one... he was smart and just say again. We spent three hours on 8 counts lol... and the end result was for my friend to just run a bit faster haha!

My high school director would say "one more time" and we'd end up doing it a bunch more times but he also told us often that once was a fluke so we had to prove we could do it right twice in a row. All our practices were also structured so that there were two back-to-back complete run-throughs at the end. Usually the guard instructors were much better though. If they said "once more", they would either stick to it, or give a reason why the once-more hadn't been good enough. I think it's better to say "again" instead, but only if you know what wasn't working the first time. Sometimes it's obvious and people should know if they really screwed up, but if the same person makes the same mistake more than twice in a row, the nearest tech needs to mention it instead of letting it hold the whole band up.

My band director is pretty good with "one more time." usually its because he's sick of looking at the formation.

But my guard director.
"Uno mas!"
... Lies. domokun
Espically during winter season.

he only says "one more time" when we all want to move on to something else.
