So yesterday was the BIG CHAMPIOINSHIP SWIM MEET! And I was SO exited I woke up early and walked to school early to make sure I was on time and I made sure I had everythign ready and had eaten my carbs the day before and BLAHBLAHBLAH! aNYWAY, I swim the 200. freestlye and the 400m relay adn one of the girls for the realy didn't show up so we couldn't swim it. So I could only swim one event, the 200m freestlye. So I go over and get ready to do it and we're all on teh blocks and they make he BEEP and all te swimmers dive in and then everyone is all STOP STOP! and whistles are blowing and We go out and we had to go all the way around and start again. So this ref comes up to me and says "Are you so and so, blah blah you false started you're DQed" I and I was thinking HOW could I flase start when I was the last one to dive in the water. You know what I did? I FLINCHED on the diving block. So they called it a false start. A false start is when you start before they blow the wistle but I didn't even start I flinched.

That... is really dumb. So you were disqualified for flinching?

Wow, that sucks. I've never competed in a sport where that can happen. In soccer, if you start before the ball's kicked you do the kick off again. But you don't get thrown out... o.o

I think that they're really paranoid about that kind of thing in swimming. I might be wrong, but it seems to me that there were a lot of people in the past who cheated by starting early. Even something like a one second head start can give you a huge advantage.... so I believe now they go a little overboard to make sure people don't do that. :/ It really sucks that they thought you were cheating, and that you got disqualified. There's nothing worse than psyching yourself up for something, and then finding out you can't do it, especially for something like that. I hope you weren't too disappointed.

I cried. My whole season was pointless because of that stupid flinch. My coach said it wasn't really my fault and she wished the girl had been there so we could swim the other event.

That sucks scream Let's go beat up the judges...ok, let's not, but still! That was really stupid thing from them to do! You flinched and they DQ you. They should DQ themselves.
