Haa. Thats exactly what our band does. And it's only our band that does it, too. And it's mandatory. I hate it, not because I suck, but because no one can hear me. I have to start over every. Single. Time. Must play loud.
Nothing like having your BD butcher your last name horribly and tell you to play with feeling.

I say start all over. You can start by looking at the solo, and make sure that you have all of the notes right. Then, play it slowly, counting every single note and rest with complete accuracy! (not as hard as it sounds) Then, when you have the notes and everything is being counted right, you can pick up the speed until you get it right.
Then, you practice like CRAZY until the time comes. And play LOUDLY every time. You want to blast your lungs out (enough to make it sound fine).

Ah, solos. I'm scheduled for an ensemble today, and I've never played Solo&Ensemble before, and me and my duet buddy or practically pathetic having not practiced together until two days ago. D: It's awfully tedious.
Anyway, maybe you should try counting tempo if your leg does shake? It will take your mind off how nervous you are, possibly. A good strategy if you're ever nervous is what my old band director told me, is imagine the panel or any onlookers as marshmallows, or any other type of good tasty treat you enjoy, and play on from there.
Good luck with your solo, I hope you do well! :]

I have a solo, and a trio tomorrow.
All I do is close my eyes all the way through the piece, this takes your mind off everything else, although it only works if you memorize the song, of corse!.
Good luck, I hope you do well!

My solo was yesterday, and I started out bad cuz I was nervous but then I got really good throughout the song because I knew that I wasn't gonna be compared to others, the way you get superior is by playing against the song. Because I played last year and was extremely nervous and thought I was gonna get excellent but got superior anyway. Alas, my BD emailed me and told me I got superior last night. YEAH!
Also with the leg shake deal I have the same problem. My band members all had the same judge in the same room for an hour straight, and while I was watching some of them my leg was shaking and I was worried if I could stand up or not! But once I was in front of the stand I relaxed because I had seen the judge critique my friends and I knew he wasn't harsh.
So anyway good luck today!

I always shake on important band things.
Just this weekend, I had an audition for chair placements in my honor band. By the end of it, I was shaking so badly, I had some weird vibrato sound. But it was a bad vibrato, not a good one. Horns+vibratos don't sound good to me.

Our Solo/Ensemble festival is on Saturday. My ensemble is pretty good, I think we'll be fine. But my solo, I still haven't played it all the way through with the accompaniment.. X.x I almost always shake when I'm playing by myself for people, not so good for auditions and solos.. XD

I thought I was totally gonna die on my Violin solo, but it was a wee bit too long, so the judge had to cut me off before I got to the end- THANK GOD.
