From Publisher's Weekly
by Calvin Reid -- Publishers Weekly, 3/27/2007 1:57:00 PM
Bestselling fantasy novelist Sherilynn Kenyon is the latest high-profile writer to go graphic. St. Martin’s Press will publish graphic novel adaptations of two prose novels from Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series, Night Pleasure and Night Embrace. St. Martin’s editor Monique Patterson acquired the books in a deal brokered by agent Merrilee Heifetz of Writers House. These aren’t Kenyon’s first books to be adapted to comics. This summer Marvel Comics will serialize two works, Sword of Darkness and Night of Darkness, written by Kenyon under the pen name Kinley MacGregor, and later collect them into hardcover releases.
An international bestselling novelist, Kenyon’s books have sold more 10 million copies. Although the contracts have been signed, Patterson said decisions about the illustrator ("maybe manga-style") and the possibility of using a writer to adapt the novels into comics are still to be made. Final pub dates are also still to be determined. Most importantly, said Patterson, "Sheri is thrilled. She’s big comics fan and this is something she’s been trying to do for a long time."
In a phone interview, an effusive Kenyon said, "I love it all. Manga, manhwa, indie comics. I’m reading Priest and Basilisk now. My all time favorite comic is Matt Wagner’s Grendel." She said she has been a comics fan since she was child and was much influenced by an older brother who was also comics fan. Even though it’s likely a different writer will adapt the books under Kenyon’s supervision, she was quick to say that if she had the time, she’d do them herself.
"I’d love to have drawn them too, if I had the time," said Kenyon, who said she has been intent on getting her work adapted into comics. "This is the reason why I switched my representation to Merrilee," she said referring to Heifetz, who also represents acclaimed comics writer and bestsellling novelist Neil Gaiman. "I wanted to be with the best. This is very exciting." __________________

KomoriRei Ditto here called a 20 minute drive to the nearest bookstore. sweatdrop Kinda stinks huh? Only 20 minutes? Your lucky. It's a good hour and a half for me and even that bookstore doesn't have a good graphic novel collection so I usually just order off amazon... it sucks...

Release day is now.... TODAY!! Everybody, go now! Get your copy right this instant and mail it to me! (Just kidding lol ). Waah, I'm not allowed in bookstores because I spend too much money and my room is overflowing with books. (FYI, I'm almost 25, so no one can stop me, but it's dangerous... very dangerous.) Maybe I'll order online.

So I just read the first manga after getting it from the library. However... I have this knack of seeing anime guys and thinking how they'll end up together. Especially after the way Kyrian and Julian hug! I never would have come up with that line of thought in the novel, but the manga made me think... how close did they really get back in the military days? After all, it was well known how those greek soldiers passed their long womenless nights...
