The House was missing. Nothing had been occuring without a parent or child doing it for themselves lately. The House didn't feel "alive" - And no one was more aware of this than the ones that lived in it.

Kero had set this up. Something had to do with Kero and Shiro, and there wasn't a doubt about it. But Shiro, as of yet, seemed so innocent - and just as worried as the rest.

The House was gone. So was Kero.

This wasn't generally a good thing, and when the common room became marked with bloodstains, suspicions - as they will - started to arise.

Was there a TRAITOR in the House? Was Kero MURDERED by one of his own brethren?

Only a gathering could be sure to find the cause - so a gathering was called, but by who? Not the House. Not Kero... was there another entitiy inside the House?

Stranger and Stranger... but yet - here is was, the day of the gathering....

The quiet chirping of crickets flickered here and there, once in awhile quickly cut off as it was swallowed by something a bit larger. The area would temporarily go silent, and as the croak of new monsters joined in, the chorus hummed again with added malice.

Lear gulped, mood plummeting even further. This was going to be a more horrid day than he ever could have dreamed, it seemed- and that's saying something, with HIS dreams. His gray paws wrung the tattered corner of his blanket, and wiping his little black nose he bolted into the dark forest, not offering more than, oh, five glances back.

And if the uneasiness all around wasn't enough, his precious blanket's corner tearing was a travesty. Like his SOUL. Look at those frayed edges! And here she was engrossed in that stupid book. Stupid stupid stupid... he sniffled back a tear, though more for the effect of self-pity than actually stemming the flow that had been streaming into his poor blanket for the past half-hour or something that'd passed in his race from The House. Stupid Iole, stupid Nanashi-or-whoever, stupid monsters in his dreams, stupid nightmares, stupid strangers pestering his mother and taking her attention away and making him unloved by everyone and tortured by demon-spawn children and...
He stumbled, and the Ky'thri twisted for balance in the underbrush. Lear tenderly unhooked his blanket from a tangled bunch of branches, and then ran headlong through the bushes again.
The window... he'd always seen the forest when he'd awoken, and it had always looked so horrifying in the Outside World.

So why did he feel like it was safer here than inside THAT loveless hellhole?

No good, no good! Miel shook his head violently to himself while his parent showered. Syrie had noticed the lack of magical aura about the House - but he'd been so preoccupied with his work and trying to teach Miel things he'd need to know that he'd not thought much about it.

But Miel hadn't reacted well at all. Not having the House there left this hugely loud silence - screaming blankness that just grated on his nerves until they were raw. Syrie had finally gone to shower after the kitling had torn open his back with his sharp claws - the dark slate colored kitten had wanted none of his parent's foolishness that night!

Octi curled in his arms, Miel wandered out into the hallways, following a quietly insistant calling that he couldn't really resist - nor did he want to. Answers were what he wanted. Something- anything - that would make the irritation go down. His eyes searched the gloom even as his sharp little teeth worked to tear open his mouth just a little.

Pain was his friend, anymore. It let him know he was alive, and it helped to release some of that awful pressure inside that made him attack Syrie...that made him destroy things in fits of rage. Something he'd done more and more since the House's presence had left...

He didn't particularly want to be in the house without the House...but...summons were summons - and he was a very curious child...
