{ Due to the ending of the metaplot, this RP doesn't fit in anymore! D: }Lying upon a large jagged stone that pointed outward from the canyon side like a small cliff, Ran stretched out her wings and tried to ease her mind as she watched the cool water droplets decline from the falls above. The sky above was a gentle tone, a light aquamarine blue with specks of white cloud fragments here and there like random strokes on a canvas board. The air had a fresh, moist smell to it and the sun shone down warmly, which Ran took as the characteristics of a fine day that was meant to be enjoyed and taken at a leisurely pace.

*A dark red figure drifted through the air, momentarily breaking up the endless blue of the sky. Charon glided close to the cavern walls, his pace leisurely as he kept an eye out for small critters to snack on. Something up ahead caught his attention- somewhat hard to see against the brown of the cliffs. Beating his wings harder, he headed towards it with hope that it would turn out to be edible.*

Hearing the sound of wings beating air, Ran rose her head, catching sight of the dark painter that was approaching her way. Almost immediately she stood up, and proceeded to thrust herself upward with her wings to the cave that lay hidden within the shadows beside the great falls. Once there she went far enough in to be well hidden within the darkness, hoping the other painter would merely pass by.

*Charon banked as his prey suddenly lifted off and soared out of sight... Come to think of it- nothing edible was usually that large...or able to fly. He drifted curiously in the direction it had fled, coasting on air currents close to the canyon wall. A fine mist of droplets from the falls began to settle on his scales.*
Come out skulking one! I'm not here to eat you after all!
*He had to bellow to be heard over the roar of the water.*

Ran blinked, finding what the painter outside had said to be quite odd. Had he mistaken her for some sort of food? Timidly, she slowly crept forward to the entrance to her cave and peered out. Once she had found his moving figure, the urge to go in hiding once again overcame her but she remained there.
He was still a few ways away, so curiously she leaned forward a little to perchance get a better view of him. However, the loose stones beneath her torso didn't agree with the sudden change in weight, and crumbled down to the waters below, causing her to have to quickly back up further into the cave. Ran then decided that she'd be better off staying in there, though her location was undoubtedly given away by now.

*Charon hovered, wings beating to keep him aloft, craning his neck in different directions in an attempt to locate the mystery creature. Suddenly, the echoing splash of rocks bouncing from the canyon wall alerted him to movement directly to his right.*
Ah... There you are.
*He glided easily to the hidden entrance, claws hooking on the mouth of the cave. Charon squinted into the darkness, sheets of water crashing behind him.*
Am I frightening?

"N-no...I'm sorry." Ran answered softly in her mezzo voice. "I'm...not very good around strangers...well...I mean...I tend to be quite timid. I...didn't mean to offend you or anything." She sat on her hind haunches, tail curled around herself as her gaze wandered around the floor due to not being able to get herself to look directly at the other.

*Charon seated himself as well, still a few feet away from the timid dragoness. He watched the glow of her eyes dim as her gaze retreated to the floor.*
I'm not offended.
*He snorted, tail twitching.*
But Painters should not be afraid of one another. ...Unless one happens to be on the side of Evil.
*The deep red dragon's head tilted, eyeing her- though it didn't seem there was any way such a demure Painter could be in the service of Qhej.*

"Evil?" Ran inquired, looking up to him. "Do you mean...The Dark One? I've...heard little of him but...I have no intentions in joining him if...that's what you were referring to." Quietly she folded her wings to her sides, trying to keep herself calm. "I can understand though...that I can be suspected of such things. I tend to be too...careful."

*He nodded, lifting a claw and prying out a bit of dirt from underneath a scale.*
I should hope not. Otherwise it would no doubt be my duty to start a fight with you in this very cave.
*The red Painter's grimace implied that he did not really wish to do that.*
Careful...? Since when has caution been a trait of evil?

"Well, you said a painter should not be...afraid of others...unless they happen to be of the dark side." Ran replied, "So I...would think being overly careful...would fit into that suspicion." She felt a little more uncomfortable with his mention of fighting, as she despised all forms on if.
