Hazel shuffled closer to Liam, pressing into his side. "I was popular...I don't know why though. It was a little scary, but exciting I guess..." she peeped a little giggle. "You? Jealous? Oh my love, you know I would never pick anyone but you." She paused at the tone of her mate's voice, then went on. "It did, don't worry. I wouldn't have had you do it any other way. In truth...I was planning to ask you, too. I didn't want you to think...to think I didn't love you. I would never want to go another day without knowing you're here for me, knowing you are mine, and I am yours." She shuddered a bit at a sudden breeze, and with an oddly strong flick of her will, dragged a nearby slab of bark over the entrance to make a block. If one thought about it they might realize that, being from the lands near Cold, she couldn't possibly be chilled by such a southerly breeze...perhaps she just wanted for a little to really have Liam all to herself, not even the outside night taking a share.

Liam hooted softly as the nest went dark, taking advantage of the moment to hop behind Hazel. Burying his face in her feathers, he hummed softly, sending vibrations down into her bones. He wanted her to be able to feel him just as acutely as he felt her. "Oh, dear heart. You'll turn me into a bard with all this love," he teased gently.

Hazel smiled and leaned back into Liam. "Hmm, would I prefer you as a bard? Let me think..." She pretended to mull it over, letting the male stew in silence a little. "I don't think so, you are so dear to me how you are. Of course, if you would rather be a bard..." She twisted her head about and nibbled Liam's beak fondly. "I plan to love you forever more, so that could be a very real possibility." She turned her voice serious, nodding solemnly. "Shall I see a crafter about adding on a performance space for you, my love?"

Liam chuckled a bit. "While I doubt one wouldn't leap at the opportunity, my calling is with chicks... however, I may need to see one about adding some space when our chicks come along. Wouldn't want this sleeping cavern to get too crowded, now would we? Maybe even a separate space for when they're fledglings..." He mused for a bit, wondering what it would be like having fledglings of his own that slept in his nest, not in the communal nest.

Hazel smiled happily at the thought. "Little fluffs running around...It might be nice for a while, having them with us here. But they won't like being crowded, no. Maybe that alder besides this tree could be used? I don't want them to be far, Love. What if they need us in the night? I want to be able to get to them quickly, and hear if they call." She realized she was talking as if said chicks were already here, and smiled more. "How many, do you think?"

Liam grinned widely, playfully. "Lots! And we'll raise them all! You'll go plum raving mad with the fluffs!" He attack-groomed his mate, fluffleing her all over. "Y'know, when we were growing up, Da build us nests of our own in the same tree. Not big ones, just sleeping spaces, but still... in that big oak, remember? All up the sides, those holes. He'd call in a Crafter to peel back the bark and gouge the sides out... It was great, having a place of my own as a fledgling. I went back there a while ago... the holes are still there. But nobody lives there now, full-time. It's just part of the enclave. I guess they use them for storage now. I'm sure we could do that. Who knows? Maybe Thorn will be the one who does it." He winced a bit, sure of the pain that was to come with the thought of his one-time charge, but, to his surprise, it didn't come. He looked forward to seeing him, perhaps, but... with Hazel... he didn't mind that he was gone...

Hazel laughed and swatted Liam. "Lots, huh?" Of course, she couldn't deny that a large family would be nice. Growing up with her own family, and Liam's besides, and all the other fledges that were there, a big family seemed normal. Maybe not all at once, of course, but eventually. She squeeked at the sudden attack-fluffing and let herself be pushed over. "I did like those little holes. It made you feel all grown, with your own place. We could get a bigger one about midway up for us, so we could be close to them all." She pushed herself upright and waddled to the edge of their home. She looked up and down, then back at Liam. "Think we could do it on this tree? I'm sure Thorn would love to help, he could even put in a hole of his own for when he visits!"

"This tree's certainly big enough. I'll keep this cavity around for work purposes, and I think I'll turn some of it into storage space, and then we'll put the fledge holes above it, maybe two directly above, then our cavity, and then a couple more above that... Yeah, that should do it!" It was kind of funny. Liam had always assumed that his future would be rewarding, seeing his little charges grow up and take jobs of their own, but he'd never put much thought into it. He'd never thought about changing his tree, or anything like that. It was almost like being a fledgling on the verge of graduation all over again. "Heh... first a bard, now an architect. What other sides of me are you going to unlock, love?"

Hazel couldn't supress a laugh. She had always been able to tell when Liam was getting excited about something or other, and he definitely was so now. It was getting late though, and distantly Hazel could see that the leaves were beginning to lighten as the sun began to climb. "Perhaps we will find out tomorrow, hmm, my dearest?" She snuggled closer and fluffed herself up. "But if we don't settle in soon, the fluffs will be running all over us come nightfall."

"Mmm, I suppose you're right, dear heart." Liam nipped her eartuft once more. "I haven't stayed up this early in a long time." From outside, a muffled, sleepy young call was heard. "Yeah, and I haven't either! And I wasn't planning on it tonight! Go to bed, Dad!" Liam rolled his eyes at Thorn. "Y'know, the bark in here is so thin sometimes..." He shrugged, then suddenly flopped over on her as if dead. Turning on his best roguish grin, he asked "So what's better- the fluffs running over you, or me?"

Hazel bit back a laugh at Thorn. She hadn't meant to be so loud, though she knew the young crafter wasn't really upset. "Our apologies, Thorn!" She hooted out before being knocked nearly over by Liam's sagging form. "Ack! Liam, what are you...?" She found herself suddenly caught in his stare and she grinned back. "Well We'll have to find out, won't we?"

"Yes," Liam happily agreed. "Tomorrow evening! Unless you want to stay up a little longer?" He blinked a few times, then mussed her headfeathers with his beak. "I could always request an evening off... there's other Minders in the enclave..." He hunched and stretched his wings, pulling himself off Hazel. He didn't want to crush her too much!

Hazel smiled. "It might be nice to have you all to myself for a night or so, but I do want to meet your family here. Maybe we should just play it by eartuft tomorrow. See what's interesting, and just go from there. As long as I'm here, I'm happy."

"Y'know, they're your family too now... all the fluffs, the fledgies, and the five of us big, strapping Wildtype males! Better not get us confused now!" Liam chuckled to himself at his little joke, but his smile faded. "I wish you could always stay here. Life seems so empty without you around. And I'm sure the fluffs are just going to love you!
