I think that the war was a terrible mistake, and very little good will come of it.
I am in the UK, where virtually everyone was against the war, but Blair put us in anyway. Bah.
The original reasons for the war are obviously flawed. It was always clear that there were no 'weapons of mass destruction' or anything of the kind. The apologetics they came up with later are more complex, but still I believe it is flawed.

I remember after 9/11, the war was called "The War on Terror"... and the goal was to catch Osama Bin Laden... but why did we go into Iraq? Iraq had NOTHING to do with the 2001 attacks. As we know, it's already 2008. It doesn't take seven years to catch a man who hides in caves. The administration used the ghost of 9/11 and the American people's anger to find Osama as an excuse to transition and make the move into Iraq. We don't belong there, and we never did. We're there for oil.

LOL, this is turning into a decidedly uncontentious thread. You're both correct. We never had any right being there.
Besides how do you win a war on a concept? You can vanquish a physical foe or a standing army, but a fear that claws deep in the heart? Besides with the PATRIOT type acts, we've proven rather suceptible to terror, at least in Washington. Osama, if he's alive (and there are rumors that Bhutto said he was dead) must be laughing.

It pisses me off because people are so blinded with this idea of "If you're against the war, you're unpatriotic." And so many of our young men and women are dying in vain...

We went their for oil, which is stupid.
Ousting Hussein was a great accomplishment, but we cannot fully win the war.
Basically, our goals (oil) are stupid, but we have done good. The problem is it is not a winnable war, and therefore should never have been attempted.
