The problem with the mages essentially giving Harvard a room that he wasn't actually responsible for in the long run was that it got dirty very quickly, never to be cleaned again. Nadia didn't mind, not really, but sometimes spending the majority of a day alternately watching the giant blue man play Nintendo while making trips to the kitchen or bathroom along the tiny pathways between the filth got tiring, even for the normally calm child.

That's why today, Nadia was sitting in the open doorway of their ground floor apartment, despite the fact that it was very cold. She was bundled up to within an inch of her life, even going so far as to agree to the pants Harve offered when she got dressed this morning. Her bright green eyes peeked out from between two thick layers of scarf that were securely wrapped around her head, and she seemed to be playing with a remote-controlled car that had lost its remote. All of her attention was fixed on it, in fact, as she rolled it over the ground back and forth, back and forth.

Elle watched from the window as Brennan tromped across the snow ground in search of adventure. The boy knew he was only allowed to go as far as she could see him from, that was the deal they had made. Normally Elle wouldn't have left him alone outside at all but she needed to draw some ideas for work and take a few sample shots of concepts and to do that she couldn't have the bored and slightly destructive child underfoot. At least outside he was exercising and could play as hard as he wanted without hurting anything.

The woman made a note to herself to see if she couldn't figure ut why he was such an angry an aggressive child. It just couldn't be good to want to destroy things all the time. there had to be something wrong.

Bundled up in what he thought was a puffy ugly blue snowsuit Brennan tromped about the complex and kicked over snow drifts and any small snowmen he came across. Who made people out of snow ? It wasn't like they were going to come to life or anything despite what a thing on the t.v had said.

The soft of something crunching the snow and another's breathing caught Brennan's attention and the young Ames scurried to the edge of the walking area. From there he could just make out the sight of silvery warm breath in the air but not who or what was making it.
" Who's there?" he called out.

Nadia froze at the sound of Brennan's voice. Who wanted to know? Curious, she pushed herself to her booted feet and pulled the front door closed. Harve was probably napping. She was sure she could be back before he woke up. Picking up the toy car, she carefully made her way out to where Brennan was murdering snowmen.

"Nadia," she said, louder than she normally would have, so her voice would make it through her layers of clothing. She glanced at the other child's path of destruction and then back at Brennan himself. "Snowmans're dead." They must have done something very bad to have deserved such a butchering.

Nadia.. that was an interesting name Brennan supposed, the Nadi part reminded him of the word naughty which was a word for bad children or so he'd learned in his short life so far. Was Nadia naughty?

In response to her statement about the snowman Brennan frowned " Snow's not alive, can't die." Alive things died though , or so the t.v told him. Brennan hadn't killed any though becuase he'd barely met anything alive yet. That and he'd only seen things kill to eat and nothing alive he'd seen looked edible.

Eyeing the toy in her hands he pointed " What's that?"

Snow couldn't die? Nadia filed that fact away, but didn't say anything. In her experience, anything with a face could die, and even some things without.

The little girl held her car out and said, "Car." Actually, it was a something Harve called a Chevrolet Corvette C4, but that wasn't really important. "t's broken. I jus' roll it," she said, demonstrating by driving it back and forth through the air. "Wanna see?" The boy was certainly interesting, with his weird skin and hair, and the longer she could keep him around, the longer she would have to examine him.

Given permission Brennan snatched the car from the girl and mimicked her driving motions in the air. It was.. boring, he could do the same thing with just his hand if he wanted to. Frowning Brennan returned the broken, he wondered what it did when fixed, toy to the girl.

Suddenly as if struck by exhaustion Brennan fell backwards into the snow and stared at the sky. it was mostly blue dotted with fluffy white clouds. Futilely the boy reached towards them " How do they get up there?" The question was directed at Nadia not that he expected much of an answer after all the girl didn't even know that snow couldn't die.

Nadia squinted up at the bright clouds. She had never really cared to think about how they had actually made it into the sky. It wasn't like she was ever going to be able to touch them or anything. There were plenty of other things to investigate that she could touch without difficulty.

She remained standing, watching the clouds change shape and float away. "Maybe they jus' walk up there," she suggested, pulling her scarf away from her mouth so she could speak more clearly. Sometimes, late at night when she was supposed to be sleeping, Nadia would tiptoe out of her room and sit next to Harve's recliner, watching whatever he had put on before he had fallen asleep, but not before the snooze function shut the television off for the night. Between her guardian's snores, Nadia learned about zombies, serial killers, detectives, and ghosts. Clouds were probably ghosts. Snowman ghosts.

Nadia kept her thoughts to herself as she sat next to the Ames boy, resting her toy car carefully on the mound of snow next to her. "What's your name?"

Brennan had yet to see a cloud with legs but he supposed that they might be able to walk or at least float or something. " I"m Brennan, it means.. I forget so it's not important." Brennan knew he'd been named that on purpose but he didn't remember why and thus to him it didn't matter. After all it wasn't like he was bound to do whatever his name said..at least he hoped not.

In his peripherial vision Brennan noticed that the broken car made patterns in the snow when rested upon it. That was slightly more interesting then what it did when in the air. Reaching over he pushed it about a foot and grinned. He wasn't sure why he liked this but it was amusing to him.

" Lets find tracks" he announced form in his decisions. everything made tracks, peoples cars , animals. They should follow them to find something interesting. Even if he wasn't supposed to leave the safe area.

Nadia nodded. She stood again, leaving her toy car in the snow. The forest where she and the other children had seen that... thing would probably be all right in the daytime, but that was also sort of far away for toddler legs. This Brennan kid didn't seem like he had the attention span to look for tracks for five minutes, let alone walk all the way to the forest.

She pointed off toward the barely-there path that led back behind the building she lived in. "I can see animals out my window sometimes," she offered.

(lol longest running rp ever)

Brennan looked thoughtful then nodded " We'll go there." If Nadia had seen animals there before than there was a good chance they'd find some today right? his mother said there were a lot of animals in the world. One of them was bound to be interesting enough to keep his attention.

Nadia started toward the back of the apartment building, still moving slowly in her bulky snowsuit. She didn't know exactly what they were going to see, but if she had to do any running away from it, she likely wouldn't make it very far. It was slightly darker up ahead, under the thick cover of evergreens, and it made Nadia a little nervous, even if she would never admit it. "Where now?" she asked.

Brennan having followed Nadia this far wasn't exactly sure where to go now. He scanned the ground for tracks but other than their own he was having a hard time of finding anything that looked worth following.

" Brennan get your little butt inside right now, you are grounded for the next week"

The young child turned and gave a growl of annoyance as his mother leaned out the window and glared at him. He wanted to go tracking things down but now he couldn't.

" Next time, " He promised Nadia before scurrying off as fast as his little legs could carry him. next time they'd leave sooner so they had a better chance of finding something.

Nadia looked up at Brennan's mother, scooting closer to the side of the building so it would be harder for the woman to see her. She nodded at Brennan's abbreviated promise of fun times in the future and very slowly followed his trail back to the front of the building, picking up her car before heading back inside her own apartment.
