See, I was born in Wallachia... Or as you know it, Romania. But see, I was born there before it was even Wallachia, when it had no name. It was just many villages separated by nothing more than many miles and mountains." As he spoke of his old home, his true accent came out, he sounded much older than he looked, and his expression had become somewhat distant. "When I was very young, there were many battles between the Hungarians and the Mongols, but after many years, the Mongols had won and took over. When I was nineteen, I had my first son, Serj Morvis Domine, and I had two more sons, each a year apart. My oldest son was turned by a lycanthrope... A, Werewolf, if you will, and banished to Germany in 1367. My second son was killed in 1368, during the battle with the Transylvanians... But my youngest son, Ky Daniel Domine, who killed his brother but a few short months ago, was sired by myself. I could not bear to see another of my sons killed or turned by a mongrel again. It was necessary, you see, and now he is a demi-god..."

"My second son, Johann Montreaux Domine, was born when I was twenty-one. He was twenty-nine when he was killed in battle, and I was saddened to hear of his death. But I still had Ky to carry on the family line... By this time I felt suspicion had been raised about my unnatural longevity, and was resolved to take my son and leave the country. It was just Ky and myself, the mother of my children had been raped and murdered during the last invasion of the Mongols, much sooner than any of my children were old enough to fight. In 1368, the deaths of both my son and myself were faked and all suspicion was put to rest. We left under the cloak of night to new lands... We were headed toward Finland, because we had heard that there was much opportunity for well-to-do persons."

"We settled in a little village on the western border of Finland that is now known as Pori. Ky and I spent a few months learning the languages, which, at the time was Swedish and Finn, and when we had felt confident, he set out to make money. It turned out he had good luck, he went to work on Turku Castle about 80 miles to the south of where we were living. He wrote often while he worked and saved his money, and I was making a modest living with a small farm and doing some fur trapping from the time we moved until about 1388. We had converted to Lutheranism in order to fit in with the society of the time, and I kept mostly to myself. In 1388, I became part of the Victual Brothers, who, in 1392, turned to piracy. Before we became pirates, which has nothing to do with many of the picture shows you see nowadays, we shipped goods to port cities who needed it. After we started pirating, we nearly halted all maritime trade in the Baltic Sea, including herring distribution, and we were very well off because of it. In 1394, I was put in charge of taking over a castle in Korsholm, Finland, and we held our position for nearly five long years. After this, I felt that it was time for Ky and myself to get out of Finland for a long time, and this time we headed towards Italy, and Rome."
