Stars shone out against a dark background, twinkling with devious plots and plants. They grinned at her with sharp teeth, and threw spines into her heart. The soft warmth of feathers did little to fight against the bitter cold of the crisp air. She hissed warmth through her teeth and rolled over. A sharp pain caught her in the side and she scrambled to her feet, kicking a rock bitterly out of the way.

Everyone around her was sleeping calmly, their chests rising and falling, breaths coming out in soft steam. Her eyes softened as she watched them, but the churning in her gut deepened. She swallowed hard and her face became hard set again. Finding her muslces had tensed she released a heavy sigh.

This was not what it should have felt like.

Determined to make use of her insomnia, Storm turned from the party and into the waiting night. The rocks echoed loudly under her hooves. She didn't remember ever being this clumsy before. Someone was bound to hear her.

Except for the mere factor that there was no one about. Gritting her teeth, she launched herself over a boulder and spread her wings as she dropped. The air caught underneath them, jerking her body upwards. A few more flaps kept her airborn. The wind in her hair and the weightless feeling relieved some tension, but not all.

Her mind twinged.

She shook her head, but it twinged again. "What the ******** is this?" she griped, making an arch towards whatever Nequus or familiar was having a mental breakdown. Despite her length with the skill, mastery of it was still lacking. There were still things she could not force out, or hold back. What frustrated her most is that many Nequus could hide the greatest of their secrets in their soul. The one thing they were determined to let no one have.

Two circles brought her to the earth once more, and she sniffed the air in search for the direction of the heavy mental disorder. She heard a violent crack of hooves slamming against a rock and she decided there would be a good place to start.

Clamouring over stone and red earth she found a sleek white curled up against the comforting edge of the mountain. She was shaking badly - probably from the cold air - and her pink mane littered about tear-strewn eyes.

Flashes of insane dreams made their way into Storm's head despite her best efforts to keep them out. Dreams were not something seers should watch, nor did they make sense. Trying to gather one would leave you indefinately insane.

"Hey. You need to wake up. You're bothering me."

Black tendrils reached out, swirling and combining with themselves. They reached into her nostrils and pulled out a shining soul. Utena screamed at them.

'Give it back!' 'Oh god, no, give it back.'

The mist laughed and turned into slowly into the fading figure of a horse. 'Akio, please,' she whispered to nothing, the gentle presence of another coming behind him. But Akio was nothing but a translucent pile of bones stacked on top of one another.

'My brother is dead, Miss Utena.' It was a sweet smile that sent tears down her eyes. 'Himemiya?'

'Goodbye, Miss Utena. Failure was never a option.' She felt herself dissapating, her eyes catchig the last glimpse of her own heart leaving with Akio's mist.

'Hey' A small smile from a young Nequus. 'Dios.'

'You need to--'

Utena snapped her eyes open. Her body was hot with sweat, but the air was quickly cooling it. The salt that caked her body made her feel gross inside. It wasn't until a moment later that she noticed the palomino mare leering over her.

"Gyaa!!!" she exclaimed, tripping over her front hooves as she scrambled awkwardly to all fours. "It's not polite to watch someone while they're sleeping!" Honestly.

Storm snorted and rolled her eyes. A small smirk appeared at the edge of her lips. It wasn't an amused one, persay, but one that spoke 'I haven't ever heard that before.' She clearly had little care for whether it was polite or not. As quickly as it had come, it was gone.

"You were having a bad dream," she said nonchalantly.

"Think of me waking you up as a service." The sound of ruffling feathers echoed in her ears, and she vaguely took note of the fact that the girl had no wings. She almost turned and walked out on her right then, this one did not have anything for her. However, she found an interest on this one's mind.

One word in particular: Himemiya. What the hell did it mean?

"Himemiya?" she asked, her breath coming out in gasps. She wait for Utena to answer. The word itself brought all the images she needed to mind. A Reya, no, two. Three? What was this? Storm frowned further, her bi-colored eyes watching Utena carefully. For the first time in her life, she might need the explanation of what was within another's mind.

Utena paled. It wasn't merely a bad dream. It had been a full on nightmare, coupled with dark images of Anthy she hadn't wanted. She still couldn't fathom how Akio was so cruel. She couldn't comprehend it had all just been a stupid game.

Still delerious from just waking up, she blended her emotions. Her hoof came up and slammed down in anger, her ears pinned and her teeth grinding.

Storm's words went right over her head, until she got to the last one.

"Himemiya! Do you know where she is?" She certainly must, if she'd recited the girl's name. Somehow, she knew of Utena's relation to her as well. This was a gift from the gods.

"Did you come from Ohtori, too? You. . . must have already graduated." Well, she didn't look very young to Utena. You never know, though.

Storm's own ears went to her skull at the constant badgering of Utena. It was hard to concentrate on her mind and her crazy babble at he same time. Youth thought about too many things.

"Hold yourself, you impatient dolt." She waited for Utena to silence and then closed her eyes, working into Utena's head. She pestered with questions of Ohtori, and recieved towering stones. She took each image of the Reya in turn, and got much confusion. It seemed the girl knew little herself.

The word 'school', came to mind. She needed clarification. Learning, teaching, information, ah yes. It made sense, even if it didn't.

She opened her eyes and sighed.

"No." It was a simple answer to all her questions. "And if she's here, she's already dead. I suggust you leave." She looked over the gangly youth. "This is no place for someone like you."

"Now hold on just a minute!" Utena snapped in response, her feelings moderately pricked. "I--"

Unfortunately for her, Storm had already started talking again. Apparently her voice wasn't even important enough to listen to. Utena paused to wait, her back foot cocked to show her upset.

Suggest she leave? Why? Other than the cold on this blasted mountain and the fact she'd almost broken her leg twice today?

"And what's that supposed to mean? Someone like me!?" She hated it when people didn't answer questions. They just told you to get lost, but she wouldn't be shoved around like a small familiar. No offence ChuChu.

The youth were obnoxious fools that got what was coming to them. She should have known better than to question her authority on the matter. She did not have the excuse of being to young to realize this, either. No, this one before her was just stubborn.

"Utena Tenjou, you would be wise to listen without question." Her eyes watched the other severely, attempting to burn what she said into the other. She knew, however, it was to no avail. This girl had her mindset out about her. It would be who was the more stubborn, but Storm's life wasn't on the line, so she didn't care if she lost this battle.

She turned on her heel, offering a few more words to hopefully put the matter to rest.

"Unless slavery or death is something you desire?" she cocked an eyebrow, her leg paused dramatically midstride. A small coy smile worked over her features before being whiped away by the passing wind. Her march resumed.

Utena knew for a fact that there had not been an exchanging of names. This only seeked to infuriate her further.

"Hey, wait you! Don't just go walking away from people!"

She watched Storm make her way over shale with experience. Utena herself stumbled as she followed, eying the sheer drops with a wary eye.

"I'm not done talking to you yet!" she snapped and took and extra sprint to catch up. Her breath came a little harder from the exertion, but she wasn't going to be left in the dust by an old hot-arsed mare.

"What's so bad about this red mountain?" she asked between breaths.

Storm paused for a moment to wait for Utena to catch up. The damn thing just wouldn't give up. The youth really were terribly annoying.

Like Sereva.

Her body gave an involuntary shudder, and she felt a feeling of dread come over her. Her gut churned again. What had she eaten? Fyhi food was shitty food.

"You're a persistent pink Shrila," she quipped, flicking her tail to and fro.

"Don't tell me, you don't know of the Katilenuck?" Well, clearly she didn't. It didn't take a seer to figure that out. The word flashed images in the girl's mind.

Classess. Other Nequus. The Reya again.

"Tell me, this Reya, were you in love with her? Is that why you're so worried?" Blunt, but it was bound to be interesting.

Katilenuck. They lived here on this mountain!? They shouldn't have been this far down.

By now, Utena had guessed that Storm was a seer, or something close to it. They'd learned about the wielders of magic in class, and how no one knew what caused it. Anthy was a weilder of water, but it made no sense for her to be able to heat tea. Ohtori had made no sense at all.

"They're up higher."

The next words caught her off guard and Utena stopped dead in her tracks, falling behind the long strides of the taller mare.

"WHAT!? Excuse me!" That did it. "I have some sense of dignity! I'm not going to go around falling for random Nequus. Least of all girls. You're a sick, sick, Jala," she hissed, her ears as flat as they could go on her skull.

What a rude b***h!!

"Have a good day," she growled and hiked off in the other direction, her strides as long as she could manage and her head still ignoring the heights.

"You'd think, wouldn't you?" she resonded to the whereabouts of the Katilenuck before rounding off with her other question.

Storm couldn't be sure on the answer, but it seemed to be no. The phrase itself had sent her a string of interesting mental images. They disturbed even her, and she wondered if perhaps she was a little hard on the girl.

It didn't matter now, off she went, smoke coming out of her ears.

"Take care, Miss Tenjou," she whispered to the wind. The encounter had done nothing for her restless mind.

Letting out an exhasperated sigh she took a leftward leap to become airborn once more. There was bound to be something else to talk to, or she could simply just fly until dawn.
