User ImageThe quiet chime of bells rang as the spirit drifted along, silence in the still air aside from the quiet accompaniment. Things were always quiet when Eza and Asp weren't around, it was a given. In truth the near stifling solitude was something even the ghost wasn't used to. Alarming really. But such as the case with one who was so used to company of others. Still, it was good to thinking quiet from time to time, something that was difficult with their monologue.

So, as much as he missed it, it was also comforting to be on his own. One paw hooked around the lamp to hold it as best he could against his chest, he'd learned to be envious of Mize's thumbs shortly after meeting her, so as not to drop it. Thankfully, being able to float along saved him the need for being able to use his paw, which made the trip easy.

He'd discovered the lake a while back on an outing, a quiet, modest one surrounded by trees. A simple grove created for the sake of the water. Perfect for viewing the show that would start shortly.

The sun was still setting on the horizon, creating a few fleeting colors on the lake surface before the lady of the night showed her face as well. "Right on time..." He murmured under his breath, a smile finding it's way to his face as he began to drift lower, toward the small shore around the lake. A few minutes later the Kyunru found himself resting near the edge, having placed the lantern beside himself he reached out a paw, casually brushing it along the surface of the water. A few moments of nothing, then a slight ripple as he attempted to practice materializing in the world to an extent. that was another thing... it was so hard to concentrate around those two sometimes. He adored them, but it was difficult.

Though it was winter, a season which Carmen found not particularly suited towards her tastes, the moon had a strange effect of drawing her out into the great wide world. No, no, there wasn't any particular animal fascination, nothing mythical or mysterious about this lunar ritual, why tonight wasn't even a full moon, for Carmen it was strictly...well, hobby? Something she enjoyed, the quite and stillness of the chill lit night.

Water, a lake of course, completed the tranquility sought forth, so she wandered until she found one. Her wanderings took her where wanders would, and she followed her feet obediently, unquestioning to places of chance and sometimes fortune and sometimes danger, but always of surprise. And of course, tonight should be no different.

At the other end of the lake, he was only a shadow, a blurr, something which took shape as she moved closer. But distances as they were, and feelings be what they may, she could tell their was definitely a being across the lake. A poor soul he was..."A poor soul indeed".

And while they were at some distance from each other, she wondered if he had even noticed her soulful eyes upon him.

User ImageA few ripples. Something so insignificant truly, but meaningful. Even beyond the proverb that one could spread a cause much farther if effort was placed. To him it meant a step closer to what could be considered 'normal.'

Ah, normal. A concept that those who had hated, and those who didn't often desired. Standing out at every moment was more bothersome than many realized. He could not walk down a street casually, or even rest at random. People could, and would, stop at seeing him. Double take as they realized what they saw through him. Not because that object was so odd, but because they could see it. Hos very existence didn't flow with nature, or so many seemed to think. Which was why normal was so appealing. So tantalizing. Normal was what would remove this constant feeling of being a stand-alone figure. For who else was there like him?

Uniqueness was a curse of sorts.

A low sigh as he brushed his paw through the water, not bothering to even try to move it for a few seconds then finally giving it the effort. A small splash before he lifted his paw up, a few drops falling as he did. The poor drops that had actually tried to cling to something that wasn't really there. Or was it? He frowned, watching the paw idly a moment.

"Am I here or not?" While he did understand he was a distinct soul, a definite existence, he wasn't so sure he was 'there.' He was less slid than even a cloud. Perhaps more like the wind? But even then there was pressure. So did he truly... exist?

He lifted his head from his paw finally, intending to check the sky for the figure that would grace his presence before pausing midway. While the dark colors muted it, there was certainly another figure there. The pale glow of gold proved that. Which froze Lafayette in place as he watched a moment. They seemed to be looking right at him, not that he was easy to miss as a glowing figure, which caused the kyunru to lean back mildly.

While there was plenty of room between himself and this stranger, the fact he was alone, without the aide of his usual spirit friends, left him feeling more exposed than usual. Certainly he was near impossible to hurt, but... a brief look to the lantern beside him. Without arms fit for it, it was difficult to hold the object. Moving quickly wasn't an option.

So what now? He looked back to the figure, squinting to try for a better view. There wasn't much to see in the darkness, just a dim figure and a faint glow. Now what? He didn't want to move, but...

Three glowing beacons in the dark of night, if this other fellow wasn't so extraordinary himself, Carmen would wonder what he would think of that third spot of light. Two where her eyes should be and the third, upon the corner of her little lip, a wicked grin curled its way up and a round until it was something more of a smile. She blinked and when her eyes gazed out at the glassy shore of the lake, she was only looking at the surrounding stillness with two instead of three.

He should ask. This was the only thing she told herself, a strange three-word message, which made little to no sense except to her. Lightly she picked up her feet, plodding along a trail of grass and dust as she crossed her way around the edge of the lake. There was no doubt in her mind that he would still be there by the time she walked around. Whether frozen by fear or curiosity, he would be there. And if the wind blew just right, the hum of the night could perhaps lull them both to conversation. She was curious, ever so curious about him.

Wouldn't you be too?

From the side she moved and kept her head down as she took a seat, near, but not too near to him. For someone of his breed, he would consider it intrusive. "Hello," it was a quiet cough of sorts, the single word she whispered. "Can I watch with you?" she stretched her neck towards the rippling black of the water. It would be terribly funny if he said no to her request, yes, if he said 'no' she would laugh. Carmen was not moving. Voice sticky and sweet and sticky as molasses, she lowly added, "I like the look from here much better."

User ImageHe'd merely watching the figure in silence. He was fairly frozen in shock, one paw lifted as if to snag the lantern in an attempt to escape, the other firmly rooted to the ground as if he was still sitting content as before. What to do, the oddity before him, an unknown, simply watched him in return, while he mentally panicked. Silently yelling at himself for leaving the two behind, for exposing himself as he had. What a foolish act he'd committed earlier. So very foolish.

And then there was movement, slow, casual as she moved along like a shadow, he reflection against the inky depths seeming to add to the almost ominous feel given off by her steady approach. Yet still, even with this, the pale figure merely gaped, mouth slightly agape at the thing. Perhaps partially because it did come forth toward what could only be a ghost. Didn't beings avoid such things when alone in the woods at night? Wasn't it frightening? Yet, the other thing that troubled him. Considering the first though... then such a being had to be something perhaps worse than even he was? An oddity beyond even his own comprehension. Which left him to wonder... was this a friend? Or an enemy? Dangerous or not?

Yet even as he tried to figure it all out there she was, arriving as silent as a shadow. He only truly looked over, emerging from his own pit of confusion, when she spoke in a mere whisper offering a greeting and a question. Which brought much to mind. Now, upon seeing her up close, she seemed not some fearsome beast, but simply a peculiar thing herself. What with the third point of gold he'd seen being that of another point to offer her sight. In truth, beyond that she seemed normal enough, if not... somewhat strange. "If it pleases you." Was the equally quiet reply, though he held none of that silent confidence she had. "Is the view so different?" It was something of a question as he turned to watch the water, trying to envision what was so peculiar. Perhaps she'd meant to refer to him, but what was there to really see about him? IF anything he faded into the background all the same as he would from afar. It was something she would likely know, and he would be left to guess at. Not truly something worth botherin himself over. The important fact was that she did not seem to be so dangerous.

She was just... interesting. Which in turn meant the ghost's gaze had once more drifted up, focusing on that third eye of hers completely fascinated by it.
