Aponi nodded, laying out half the bill, and lead the boy out the door, recieving a few curious glances between himself and malachite as they exited the diner.

"I bet you'll like this place, lot's of bondage type stuff, and lots of jewelry, too."

It was still fairly eary in the day, the sun was out, and there were a few people flooding the sidewalk. Aponi took a moment to refold his money before stopping in front of a large section of stores, like a strip mall almost.

He easily spotted the store he had been looking for, it had metallic covering and a large colelction of colorful, feathery and overall interesting fashions lining the windows. He opened the door for Mal, giving a polite, "After you, sir." and waving his hand toward the door comically.

"Ooo, sounds good," Malachite said with a grin, following after Aponi. He stayed close to him as they made their way through the crowd, trying to keep from brushing against people.

He looked up at the display in the front window of the store and his grin grew wider. He giggled at Aponi's holding the door open, and walked inside, saying, "Such the gentleman."

There were so many interesting, flashy things to look at that he couldn't decide what to start poking at first. "There's so much stuff!"

"Isn't it great?" He squeaked, finding immediate interest in a rack of different hats, all of which were gaudy and flashy. One was a fedora covered in blue sequents, there was even a beret with bear ears and a leopard print tophat with a big, black ribbon. He smirked, putting on an oversized cowboy hat draped with beads and fishnet, mocking the silly looking thing before walking over to a display of Boas and Corsets.

"Oh, this is perfect." He smiled, picking up a waste sincher with black lace along it's top and bottom and pink strings to secure it. He imagined it would give the hips a more defined curve, but was more interested in the color and the smooth leatheresque texture. He hugged it posesivly, holding it out to Mal for a second opinion. He loved how it would cover his stomach and leave his chest exposed, unlike most corsets that looked more like tanktops.

"What do you think-- could I pull this off over one of my white victorian shirts?"

Malachite giggled at the cowboy hat, pulling on the leopard print one for himself. He caught a glimpse of himself in a mirror and wrinkled his nose at how badly the hat clashed with his outfit. He put it back on its rack and followed Aponi to the next display.

He studied the waist cincher with a critical eye, doing his best to picture it on his friend. "Of course you could pull it off," he said, running a finger along the material. He half-smiled when he reached the laces. "They're pink. Very you."

He poked through a few of the corsets, and though a few caught his eye, he couldn't pick out "the one." And since they were so pricey, he was going to be very picky about "the one."

"Oh, pants!" he exclaimed, wandering over to the next rack he saw. After some more poking, he finally pulled out a pair of jeans with blue and purple straps along the legs. "These are cool," he said, holding them up to his waist.

"But, Mal, they're not green!" Exclaimed Aponi, gasping theatrically before cracking a smile, nodding at the black pants with rows of straps on either leg. They looked suiting of Mal's fashion sense, and a little less green would do the boy some good. "I think those colors would look nice on you-- purple and blue."

He poked at the tag on his chosen outfit, surprisingly it was under forty dollars, and seeing as how had to slave away at home for his money, he avoided a coldsweat after seeing the 36$ price tag. This would be his only purchase today.

"You wanna try those pants on?" He asked, playing around with the goofy items the nearest rack had to offer, he saw a pair of pink, fluffy bunny ears on a headband that reminded him of Malachite's father for some reason.

Mal stuck his tongue out at Aponi's initial reaction, but smiled when Aponi gave his approval. "Sure," he replied, glancing around for the nearest vacant changing room and ducking inside. He shimmied out of his skirt and pulled the jeans on.

He looked at himself in the mirror, turning this way and that. "Aponi~" he called, poking his head out the door, "come here and tell me if these pants make my butt look big."

Aponi rolled his eyes, giggling as he peeked his head timidly into the dressing room, he had never seen Malachite without a skirt, and pants definatly suited him. And, although he had never really surveyed anyone's bum before, as far as he knew Mal's looked fine.

"I don't think so--Though I think a sales lady would know more about how a butt is supposed to look in jeans than I would." He smiled at his friend as he looked at himself from every angle possible.

"I think they look good on you."

Malachite's eyes gained a mischevous glint as he stepped outside the dressing room and glanced around the store. There were a couple of sales girls around -- and then he spotted the lone, unfortuante sales guy in the far corner.

He waltzed over and said politely, "Excuse me--"

The sales guy turned to look at him.

"--do these make my butt look big?" Mal gave his most cheerful grin as he turned around and looked at the clerk over his shoulder.

The blush on the man's face was pricless, as he was surely trying to figure out if Malachite was a girl or not. He muttered a disclaimer before turning back to the display he was straightening.

Mal walked back to Aponi with a satisfied smirk on his face. "These are keepers."

Aponi covered his mouth, holding back laughter as he saw the cherry red blush spread over the man's face. He snickered all the more as the salesman mumbled an incoherent reply and snuck off to straihten a rack of gaudy accessories.

"Malachite, your going to confuse a lot of men." He joked, bumping his friend into the dressing room. "Get your skirt, playboy, we've still got to make a stop at Hot Topic, don't we?"

Aponi turned his attention towards the man who still looked baffled and gave him a flirty wink as he attempted to give Malachite one last confused look-- with that the man decided he was better off ignoring the two. Aponi usually didn't act so giddy, it must've been something about Mal's carefree demeanor that made Aponi throw caution to the wind and just enjoy being the way he was inside-- fun and mischevious and cute.

Malachite just giggled, giving Aponi his mischevous grin. "I know. Isn't it great?" He let himself be ushered back into the dressing room, and gave a happy squeak at the thought of going to Hot Topic. "Definately!"

He quickly changed back into his skirt and made his way to the checkout counter, new pants in hand. The ladies must've noticed their flustered coworker, because they, too, were chuckling to themselves.

As soon as his pants were rung up and bagged, he turned back to his friend. "Aponi, you gonna get that corset?" Mal asked.

"I wouldn't dare leave this behind." He laid it gently on the counter, waited for the sales girl to ring it up and package it, and flung the decorative bag over his shoulder. "Lead on."

While making there way out of the store Aponi came to the topic of the the hectic surroundings he called home. He told Mal a bit about his new roomate, Tsin, a friend of his mother's who was quite attractive from Aponi's point of view.

"So, any more additions to the Karlet household?"

"I didn't think so," Malachite said with a grin. He shifted from one foot to the other while he waited for the salesgirl to finish with Aponi's purchase. Then, he grabbed the boy's hand and led him to the door, blowing a kiss at the bewildered salesman at the back of the store.

Mal listened intently to Aponi's tales of the new roommate, and looked up at the sky as he considered the question. "Well, Rayen isn't so new anymore," he said. "Soco's our new maid-slash-butler, and he lives with us. He dresses in actual maid outfits, and that makes him cool." His grin widened as he chuckled. "Oh, and there's Riku, a weird little giraffe-thing. Other than that... I don't think there's anyone else too new."

They quickly reached the building where HotTopic was housed, and Mal continued leading the way, plowing through the throng of people as politely as possible.

"Hey Malachite!" came the greeting as they stepped in the store. Music pounded through speakers in the ceiling, and the store had it's usual "HotTopicy" smell. A girl with blue and black hair and multiple facial piercings waved from behind the counter. "Who's your friend?"

"This is Aponi," he said, tugging Aponi forward. "We're just out shopping and hanging around."

"Cool," she replied. "Let me know if you need anything. We got some new stuff up front, in case you didn't notice."

"Okay." Mal turned to Aponi. "Whaddya want to look at, first?"

Aponi listened intently while Malachite told him about Soco, who sounded adorable and useful, and gave a confused grin when he heard they were living with a giraffe thing. He knew Mal had a large house but he never imagined they could fit two more people in it amongst the tiger girl and the dog-like boy, and all the others he had heard of.

He allows malachite to lead him through the crowd and wandered into HotTopic with a curious look on his face. He smiled at the cashier, admiring her piercings, and shrugged at Mal's question.

"Lead the way-- I'm not much of a 'Hot Topic-er'."

Honestly, Aponi was amused enough letting the energetic, green-haired lad lead him around, and could care less what they looked at first. Although, the wall of collars and armwarmers caught his attention pretty fast.

"I'm so much of a HotTopic-er that most of the folks here know me by name," Malachite said with a hint of pride. "Not only is it an unusual name, but the hair sets me apart from most of their other customers."

He glanced through the aisle of anime merchandise before heading to the front of the store and poking through their new items. "Go ahead and browse around," he said to Aponi, "I'll catch up with you."

Aponi grinned, Mal really was the type of person to stand out, and for so many reasons. He noddded, and set off to finger througha wall covered in stationary, books, and perfume-- an odd combination, but interesting none the less. He thumbed through a few JTHM comics, but discovered Emo already owned the volumes they had and probably more, and moved to the lingerei section.

'Cute' he thought, picking up a lacey black thong with a bunny tail on it's back, and placing it back into the sectiobn where he pulled it from, enjoying the ever-so-unique merchandise.
