What if there was only the moonlight to shine?
What if math never existed?
What if I had never gone back home?
What if...
What if I had supernatural powers since birth? She opened her eyes from a vivid nightmare. Slowly sitting up, trembling. Had that been a dream? She feared, and yet felt relief. The I Unown jumped to Veronica's lap...
Yes, it was just that..-Yesterday-Veronica arrived at the HQ again, not as tired as usual. She decided to explore more of this building, finding interesting and unpleasant things, O.o, then she opened the door to a light filled room. There was no one inside. Ahead was a stone tablet though and Veronica cluelessly touched it.
Huh, aren't these unown letters? Suddenly a pokemon appeared in front of her, she took a few steps back and saw it was an I unown. It looked up and Veronica, scoffed and looked at its surroundings. She was surprised at its reaction.
"..What's your problem?" The unown looked at her with a bored look, she could immediately pick up on this one's attitude. Feeling annoyed, it shook,
'what are you waiting for, fool, ask!' A thought popped into Veronica's head.
"Whoah, who was that?" She was frighten but since there was no one around then it had to be the unown using telepathy.
"Aren't you nice." She said sarcastically.
'Enough! Ask! I've got no time to waste. It glared.
"Ask what?"'A what-if question, of course, why else would you be here?!'"Ehh -Ok. What if..." She paused to think.
"I was born with supernatural powers?" She felt silly when asking that but wouldn't it be cool?
'As you wish,' It nodded.
'Here we go...'Everything started to shine white, the walls, the pokeballs, her hands... Until nothing was visible. This only lasted for a moment and it appeared like nothing had changed. The unown started to float to the door.
'You might want to get out.' It left. When Veronica took a step forward everything started to shake.
"AHH!" She started to run and everything began getting worst, like an earthquake. She couldn't use the elevator, how would she get out? Just then she shone in purple and was lifted up, the I unown helped her to the room near the exit door. The shaking was getting worst by the second: things started to fall over, there were things breaking and the walls had cracks in them. When they finally reached the outside, the inside began to collapse.
"Thanks for your help back there," She said as she got away from the building.
'Please, I would miss on your idiocy if you died so soon.'"Excuse me?" She snapped at the unown, she was insulted and curious.
What is he talking about?'Guess you really don't know, wow,' The I unown looked back to the building.
'Well done. Now, take a look around, your majesty.'Again, this made Veronica confused but she did. The trees began to incinerate, the ground began shaking again.
"Another earthquake?!" Veronica frantically looked around.
'No, look, it's the pokemon... Though we might want to get out of their way.' It carelessly walked away, Veronica looked ahead again and saw a crowd appear. All the pokemon of the forest had made a stampede and were headed her way. Her eyes widen and she ran after the unown, the pokemon almost caught up to her but she safely stood behind a large piece of cement from the fallen building.
What's going on!? Where's Team Snagem? What did I get into? She closed her eyes and waited for the earth to stop moving.
'It's over,' Veronica opened her eyes and saw the I unown.
'It's like I don't even need to comment on your stupidity. It was your question, why fear it?' A sound similar to a sigh came from the unown.
Veronica then thought,
My question? That question... Did it come real? She
was afraid, just because it was a cool thought doesn't mean it's consequences would be good. She slowly turned to see the forest that was now nothing more than sticks and stones. Her eyes flickered to the waterfall which started to stop falling.
"What exactly is going on?"'Sighs. Why did I get stuck with you? This is the reality of the answer to your question, so, use your powers.' It floated to the open area. It had been confirmed, except her powers.
What kind of powers? Veronica followed it to the dried up field.
This place began to sadden her, maybe if she really did have powers she could fix this place... For a second she did nothing, then she looked at her palm intensely. A small spark started to appear which rapidly grew into a furious flame. Veronica held her hand out to avoid the heat, she couldn't believe her eyes.
What power. The fire danced in her eyes.
'Great, now let's go, this mountain has long been abandoned.' The fire suddenly died out and the I unown began to fly up.
"Hey, wait! Help me out here, how do you expect me to follow?"'Flying, duh.' It stated it as if it was such a well known fact.
Why, you... Veronica grumbled and jumped up, and what she expected didn't happen. Instead of coming back down, she kept going up. She dared look down and began screaming for help until she figured that she wouldn't fall.
"Huh, I feel so light," It was as if she were gliding through the air; she extended her arms and flew next to the unown who used its psychic powers to get around.
Below was the land, most of it destroyed. It looked arid except for that which was just by the water. All rivers and other waterways had a dam by their normal route and made a u-turn onto a human-made river. They follow the rivers. She then noticed that there were very few pokemon in the land below.
"Where are all the pokemon?"'Ahead. In the city.' Veronica followed the unown's sight and saw an extremely huge metropolis surrounded by a wall.
"...Why?" She asked and the unown began to descend.
"Hey, where are you going?" Veronica kept looking down, unaware of the pokemon that had began to follow her. That is, until one shot a Shadow Ball in her direction but it passed just by her shoulder.
"Huh?!" She was startled by this attack and looked up, covering the sunlight from her eyes, to see a Crobat and a Skarmory. They were flying swiftly above her and when she saw them, they started to fly at a high speed towards her. With panic, she tried shooting a wave of flames from her palm but they easily avoided it. She tried reaching for Timeless's pokeballs but she didn't have any.
Where are they? She tried to hurry down but they caught up and kept flying down and both her sides. They glared at Veronica.
What did I do? She noticed that they were reading an attack, Crobat was going to use Shadow Ball and Skarmory was going to use Steel Wing. Also instinctively, Veronica let both of her hands catch on fire and began to spin to form a blazing sphere. The flare grew and absorbed the pokemon's attacks, also affecting their health. Afraid of this power, they parted away from Veronica and took off. She tried to stop her attack but it took a while for the fire to die out and was left without breathing -oxygen that is. Veronica tried to keep up only to end up passing out, she sure was lucky to have the unown help her land safely again. But then using Hidden Power to wake her with an electric shock.
'Next time, you're on your own. I don't have the need to be saving pathetic people with my precious time.' Veronica had a hard time breathing at first. All that carbon dioxide didn't do her well.
"Where are my pokemon?" She sat up.
'What do you mean? You don't have any. Why would you need pokemon when you've got those powers? Besides, Team Snagem never existed here so you never got any.' The unown explained.
"...I feel depressed," She thought about her pokemon and the missions that apparently never happened.
"Why was I attacked?" A laughing sound emitted from the I unown.
'Why, you've destroy their home, trying to master your power. But you're only a human.' Veronica was shocked.
"What are you talking about, I would never do that!" She stood up angry, only to get a headache from standing up too fast.
'Oh really?' It approached Veronica.
'Think about it.' The unown began to float up again, in the same direction as before. Veronica didn't want to.
Would I really be so easy to corrupt? Then again, since birth would be a longer than time than I have thought... At least everything isn't in ruins. She looked at the ground and began after the unown.
"Hey, can I fix this?"'I don't know, can you?' Veronica was confused yet again. She didn't ask anything else.
At the least, they weren't attacked again. In fact, since they flew low to the ground, pokemon hid at the sight of Veronica's shadow.
...No, I wouldn't, would I? The question irked her. She hated that evil sensation at the back of her spine, she had difficulty ignoring the fact that somewhere in her mind the answer 'yes' lurked.
The walls. It was as if you were standing in front of the biggest dam in the world multiplied by three, staring up at its incredible size.
"How- How can something that big be built?"'Please attempt to catch up, you had it built, duh.' She had no comment.
A large piece of it began to crack open as if it was a door. Veronica and the I unown entered into the city. There was no way to describe it, the middle building was even higher than the wall behind them, Veronica wondered how long an elevator would take to reach the top.
"Welcome back," A heavy voice spoke behind them. They turned to see a blue deer-like pokemon.
"Should I take the unown with the others?""Huh?" Veronica was startled. Two other pokemon stood by its side.
"Are you feeling all right?" The one at the right had a soft voice, she was a bit similar to the first but green.
"What are you?" Veronica asked.
"I'm Terrakion, we're your council, you've been gone longer than usual..." The last one said, he looked sort of like a dog if anything.
"I'm Virizion," The green female said.
"And I'm Cobalion," The first one took a step forward.
"Should we leave the unown to roam free?" He asked with a confuse face.
"Yea, and hi..." Veronica shily answered.
Wait, they can talk?'I've never seen pokemon like you before!' The unown announced.
"Oh, well if you want to go back in history..." Virizion lightly said then turned to Terrakion.
"We used to be from the region Unova, if you must know, though thanks to the great master all regions became one and grew upwards into this city." Terrakion explained.
"Whoah, back up, the great master?" Veronica scoffed.
"Why none other than yourself, we're sorry if that insulted you." Cobalion stood up straight.
"...No comment," She blinked continuously, trying to piece this all together. Just then the ground began to shake, it was worst than the ones before. The three pokemon sat and tried to keep stiff, suddenly pokemon that were in hiding ran from building to building, and Veronica began to panic again and tightly held onto the unown.
"What's going on?!""Oh, there's nothing to worry about, it's just Rayquaza again." Virizion smiled sweetly.
"He isn't the last one but he's been one of the hardest to capture," Cobalion reminded Veronica.
"We don't really have the resources to go out into space.""They just don't give up." Terrakion rolled its eyes.
'Urk! You're squishing me! Stop touching me!' The unown tried to squirm away.
"How dare you speak like that in front of the master!" Cobalion's loud voice seemed to echo.
"It's fine," Veronica let the I unown go and went to hold onto Terrakion.
"When will this end?""Usually takes a few minutes," Terrakion said.
...I want to go home. I want to go back to Team Snagem, this has barely started and I've had enough! She gripped its ear tightly and unconsciously bended the earth nearby into a spike. She didn't turn to see, just closed her eyes as her worries grew with the tremors. Another impulsing thought and lightning came down, making them nervous.
"...Can Rayquaza use electric attacks?" Virizion asked the other two. They looked at each other confused.
"...Shock Wave, Thunder Wave, Thunderbolt and Thunder," Veronica had the courage to say, focusing on figuring that out change her track of thoughts.
"You really are brilliant!" Terrakion exclaimed but Veronica didn't really feel proud. Suddenly she had an idea. If she was so great, maybe there was something she could do. Her eyes opened to see the blinding sky. The earth began to settle and she let go of him.
Taking a few steps back, she kept staring up. Veronica made fists, spread her legs and with one hefty jolt, she jumped up and kept flying upwards.
"Master, where do you think you're going?!" Cobalion tried to yell. She kept going at a fast pace, soon going above the city's reach.
There was only darkness above. For a second, Veronica thought the effort was pointless but then spotted a yellow line traveling through the clouds. She attempted to get closer, only to luckily have dodge an attack emitted from those clouds where the yellow line had been. Veronica ventured into them.
A loud roar made the calm storm rumble, it began raining.
Aw, darn. She dealt with it and searched through the clouds above. At this point, the altitude was so high that the rain had become a fall of tiny crystals and oxygen was thin. Veronica didn't think she would last long out here, she already started to shiver and sniff.
"He-Hello?!" She tried calling out, only for her throat to dry. There was another roar and bright yellow eyes appeared at Veronica's left. It came flying out at an incredible speed, circling around Veronica.
"Rayquaza!" She observed this magnificent creature, it was shiny and a great way to hide in these clouds.
"Please hear me out," Her voice began to die out and her hands began to change color.
"I don't want to harm you or anyone else anymore, I think-" Her cough interrupted her.
"If you're willing to hear me out, I can't do it here..." Rayquaza kept circling as Veronica desended.
She dropped to where the rain was liquid and used her energy to fly towards the sun, or at least she tried. She felt the tickle of the Sun's rays washing down her frozen skin. She continued to shiver out the cold and sniffing. The warmth was delicious and reliving, and Veronica stayed there for a good while.
Rayquaza's roar came in a low voice, she dared looked behind her to see the beast approach. His face came as close as if he was a regular person.
"Oh, hi, hey, wow," Veronica was surprised to see him again. He gave a low growl, though it sounded more of a caring sound.
But just as they seemed to be making progress, his head turned harshly away from Veronica and roared at something approaching. Veronica was alerted and peaked to see what it was.
..I! "It's that unown that brought me here. I isn't with the pokemon around here, it's a long story..." Veronica was nervous but she didn't know that the unown had already began explaining things to Rayquaza through telepathy. He relaxed again and looked back to Veronica, frighting her. The unown soon teleported to Veronica's side.
'You're damn lucky I'm a psychic type, I can't believe you made me come this far for you!' It complained as usual and started to worry about its looks.
"..You could have stayed?" She was confused.
'With those three crazy pokemon? No way! And besides, how else would you have communicated with my friend here?' The unown circled around Rayquaza playfully.
"You two are friends? Never mind that, I want to get rid of all of this, please. This shouldn't exist, it was a mistake..." She shook her head. The I unown looked back between her and Rayquaza a few times.
'I was going to say no to destroying the city but it may be the best way out. Sure, some may suffer but Mew, Celebi and a few others are still out there and can help with rebuilding the world~'
"..Destroy that? How?" Rayquaza roared at Veronica.
'You built it, you destroy it. It's given all of us enough pain... He said.'
Veronica took a deep breath.
"Ok. Ok. Sure." That's possible, right? She stared at this ginormous city.
Ah, how fun, watching the city and everything crumble. It was painful for Veronica. She had grown to restrain from all of this evil she placed in this world, and practice the good.
Enough. Her regular temperature had returned now, and she headed to the city.
To be quite honest now, there isn't much to tell since there isn't much Veronica remembers. Soon after using as much of herself as she could, she swiped out. Fainted for the rest of the day. And anyone can guess her next memory.
She opened her eyes from a vivid nightmare. Slowly sitting up, trembling. Had that been a dream? She feared, and yet felt relief. The I Unown jumped to Veronica's lap...
Yes, it was just that.. She smiled, why, she had succeded. Everything was back to normal.
