Has anyine ever donated some of their old books to a library or even just sold them to a used book store?

I just donate 30 of my Animorphs books to my local library because I've read each of them over 8 times.

I need to start selling or giving away. I have a few that I wasn't so fond of but I could sell and get money to buy books that I love!

I sold back a lot of my college textbooks, especially if the course was boring. I kept some of the cool ones, but most of them are out of date now.

Ocasionally I have. I've donated some books to elementary schools for their libraries so that the bookworm kids who are like I was would have something a little more advanced than the Boxcar Children and The Black Cauldron (serriously, thoe were the most difficult books my elementary school had)

Today is Book Drop-Off day at work. It's the one day of the month our Friend of the Library group takes used book donations. This way, they can round up volunteers to sort things out for the Book Sale next week.

That's a cool idea! Nowhere around here has anything like that, we just walk to the library and say "Here ya go!"

I have to give some of them away. My house would overflow with books...

I get books donated to me by the truckload. Unfortunately, this means I have to weed out the romance novels. What do I do with them? I donate them. Someone out there needs porn in words...

I've sold a few to a used bookstore but the libraries around my house are both so swamped with books they won't take anymore (unless to sell themselves).

If you're really interested in donating books you can use awesome sites like Freecycle to find people looking for your book and Bookcrossing to hide a book for someone else to treasure hunt for.

Of course!! I generally only read a book once, but I like collecting them. I sell them when my shelves overfill. My local bookstore even gives me money for the books I turn in, so I can buy more books!! ^_^

I've heard of Freecycle! I have to go to those sites now. Thanks for the links!

I have, actually. Sometimes when I buy a book I can't get into, I save it until I can make a donation to some place that needs books. We have a volunteer-run library that needs books desperately.

I received a lot of paper back romance novels one time from soldiers at the National Guard Armory my mother used to work at. I couldn't believe they didn't want them, so of course, I welcomed them with open arms.

Thing was, I got more than I needed per copy. I think I had 9 of the same book one time, so I just took them to my public library.
(The high school would have struck me down if I brought them romance novels gonk )
