I would ask this question again in the main forum or in the woodwinds subforum, but I'll give what advice I can.
Switch around reeds until you can find one you can better work with. You may have to get something softer than what you usually use, but as all reed instrumentalists know, softer reeds means squeaks. Hopefully, you can find a happy medium between being able to get it to vibrate easy enough without the squeaks.
Secondly, open up your throat more, like you have a wide tube shoved down your mouth and down your windpipe. That enables more air to travel through you and into the instrument. It's more of a vocal technique, but in the roof of your mouth, the back part is soft, and if you experiment with your mouth, you can actually lift it up some to make the area in your mouth bigger. Vovalists do that to make their natural resonating chambers in their head bigger to get a bigger and fuller sound. Try that with your sex playing, both for tenor and alto.
If those don't help, ask your band director or one of your classmates that plays tenor full time for some tips.

I'm a vocalist, so I was thinking I might not be of much help, but you are struggling with something that every vocalist does. Like was said before, open the back of your throat more. It should feel (in your throat) like your yawning. Also, you want to try and force the air with your stomach muscles- that gives it more force without a gross sound. Doing it this way can be hard- but all instruments (that aren't strings or percussion) do this to some extent. Helping it along only helps the sound. Another thing, when you breath, try to breath either into your rib cage- either outward or downward. If you expand outward, you need to work more to keep it there, but it doesn't strain your stomach as much. You also need to MOVE YOUR STOMACH MUSCLES! It's all about support!

Switch reeds until one works good and BREATHE which is one thing my brother can't do right.................of course you could also rebel, but I don't recommend it.

okay I got this I switched from Clarinet to tener for Jazz, alrighty just blow, dont worry about squeaking, the amount of air needed for an alto is like . that dot for what you need for tener, just blow like the dikkens and see if your putting too much or not enough mouthpiece. And if it really becomes a problem check for an air leak coz that will mess you up really badly. Good Luck its a wonderful insturment, you'll do fine. mrgreen
