Well, first off, let's define a paradox; a statement that contradicts itself. In this case "statement" can be replaced with "sub-forum" and "itself" can be replaced with "The Guild". Aren't I clever?

Anyways, on to explaining this place in more detail! And to do that, I'll create my own FAQ.


Q. What's the point of The Paradox?
The paradox is a place where people can create and Rp in Roleplays that do not take place in medieval times/ancient times/non-modern era/etc. That's right, they will be Modern/Futuristic/Sci-Fi/etc. Roleplays here must take place in the modern era and beyond.

Q. So fire is (technically) no longer our light?
That is correct.

Q. So the Rps here have to at least be modern?
YES. Jeez.

Q. Aww, poo. No more walking on water then, huh...
Did I say that? NO. Although The Paradox is set in modern era and beyond, that doesn't mean you can't have the aspect of Fantasy still there (aka powers/etc). In fact every Rp here must have Fantasy in it.

Q. Wait... What? Why?
Because we want this Sub-Forum to still be related to COST in some way, and since we've gotten rid of the whole "nuu modrn dhey stufz lulz" what better way to do that then make sure every Rp has Fantasy in it? Ya, that's what I thought.

Q. Okay... So what do you mean by Fantasy?
What do we mean? Aspects of Fantasy, of course. fantasy; Fantasy is fiction that features elements of magic, wizardry, supernatural feats, and entities that suspend conventions of realism in the literary. AKA Use of Magic in the Rp, time travel, whateva. If you're unsure when making an Rp if it has Fantasy in it, don't be shy to send it to a mod!

Q. Um... Example please?
Star wars. It's got everything: powers, space-travel, crazy alien creatures.

Q. So Sci-Fi is allowed?
As long as it has some good ol' Fantasy in it. Hell, most Sci-Fi has that anyways!

Q. So can we make something like Halo?
Technically... Yes.

Q. Wewt! So I can make a Halo Rp here and make it so Masterchief can shoot out fire/whateverelseIfeellikeadding?
No. No Parody Rps allowed kthxbai. You can make your own original Rp though, and if it happens to be Sci-Fi and a gunner Rp, wuteva. Put it up!

Q. What other Guild Rules pertain to The Paradox?
Well, the minimum post is still at seven sentences. The whole literacy thing with the Rps, etcetera. Anything can still be your weapon (ANYTHING), you can still be samurai, violence is still welcome....

Q. Is that all?
Not exactly. Rps here have to be a little more detailed than the one's that can be allowed into the main forum. Basically you'll have to describe setting a little more detailed, fantasy aspects used has to be detailed, storyline... You get the drift. If you're not sure if your Rp is good enough, just send it to me (`Cookie of Doom`) or MythicalYoko. If it's a no I'll tell you what needs improving.

Q. So my Rp has to have violence in it since it requires magic?
You know magic can be used in more ways than to just battle? Have a school Rp for magic users I don't know! You think of something!

Q. Do we put the OOC Threads in here or something?
No, they will still go into This Sub-Forum
