Have some Ravenclaw pride! A relaxed roleplay based off your common room...

Wendy yawned and rubbed her eyes, having just finished her homework. Then she turned to the second pile and sighed. The downside to befriending lots of Gryffindors was that they often got her to do their homework.

This is so worth more than a Galleon... she thought bitterly, picking up Peter Pettigrew's barely-started Potions essay.

~ Later ~

"What is the worst kind of pain one can endure?" the eagle on the Common Room door asked Wendy.

Wendy twirled a finger through her hair absently as she pondered the answer.

She knew that the worst physical pain a human being could endure was having a femur bone snapped in two, but somehow she didn't think that was quite the direction the eagle was aiming for. The eagle had asked for a kind of pain... A kind of pain... So what kinds of pain were there?

"Physical, mental, and emotional," Wendy murmured under her breath. "Body, mind, and soul."

What about your heart? a voice in her head asked quietly.

That's emotional, isn't it?

Perhaps. But think about it.

Wendy thought about it. And then an answer came to her in a rush, and she opened her mouth to say it satisfactorily when she stopped.

That's not a kind of pain, is it?

Honestly? I think you were just psyching yourself out with the whole
kind of pain thing. Just give it a go! You know you're right.

Wendy took a deep breath. "Heartbreak?" she said tentatively. The eagle didn't answer, and Wendy rolled her eyes as she remembered how much the eagle hated being answered with a question, or even in a questioning tone of voice. "Heartbreak," she said more firmly.

"Good thinking," the eagle approved before the door swung forth and allowed Wendy entry.

Wendy noticed that the embers in the fireplace were dying down and realized that it must be later than she thought. She was about to rush to her dormitory, however, when she spotted an abandoned piece of parchment on her favorite chair.

Curiously, she picked it up. Then she groaned when she saw what it was - Peter Pettigrew's essay, still unfinished.

She bit her lip, wondering if she should finish it for him or blow it off.
It'd be mean not to... he'll get an F... Then she thought of what Remus had said: I just don't do it. How else will they learn?

She stood there, indecisive, for almost ten full minutes. Then, with an exasperated sigh, she sat down and set to work.

About an hour later she put her quill down and read over the essay, making sure it sounded more like Peter than like her. Once she was satisfied that she'd gotten Peter a good solid B, she yawned, stretched, and made her way up to her dormitory.

Even though it was late she took a quick shower; she couldn't stand getting up early to take one. Besides - all the showers were taken in the morning, anyway. Once she was done, she got into her pajamas and slipped into her cozy bed. Within seconds, she was dreaming.

It is Christmas. She knows this not because there is snow falling from the sky, but simply because she knows. Sometimes in dreams, you just know.

She's walking down the drive of her house. She's humming. Today is a good day. She opens the door and steps inside, where it's warm. She sees her father, laughing at something Finn had just said. She can't see Jude, but she can hear his guitar in the other room. Only one person missing, then.

"Da, where's Sam?" she asks.

Her father stops laughing and Finn's smile vanishes. She hears Jude break a guitar string.

The dream changes

A dark house. That's all she can tell from where she stands. She is in a small room. The only light comes from the moon outside. Her oldest brother, Sam, is on the floor. He's hurt. He's shaking. She rushes forward to help him, but again she knows as you know in dreams: she knows that she is not really there. Only watching.

Someone laughs, and she turns. She sees the mask and freezes. A Death Eater. He points his wand at her shaking brother.

"No!" she cried softly, jolting awake. After quickly making sure she hadn't wakened any of the other girls, she let her head fall back onto her pillow. That had been the most vivid nightmare yet. She groaned and turned her head to look at the clock on her beside table. 3:04. Without even thinking about it, she drifted back to sleep. This time, she didn't dream.

((SORRY ABOUT THE LONG POSTS... I GOT BORED...))

Wendy awoke for the second time at a much more reasonable hour. She lay in bed for about ten minutes, shuddering as she remembered her nightmare. Then she remembered that today she'd be getting a letter from home - she'd get to see just how everyone was doing and, hopefully, be reassured that all of her brothers were safe and sound. This cheered her enough to enable her to turn her head and look at the clock - only 7:45. Not bad for a sleeper-inner such as she. Pretty good, actually.

Then she remembered that Remus Lupin had asked for her to join him at the Gryffindor table for breakfast, and that cheered her enough to get out of bed and get changed, her fatigue fading with her growing anticipation. She was ready to face the day in no time, and, smiling to herself, she started off toward the Great Hall.
