As you may or may not know, the only insect that's missing for me to get a golden net is the one and only DUNG BEETLE.

Problem is, I'm not sure when to find it.. emo
I've been to various Animal Crossing sites and looked at a few guides, most of them indicated a vague "evening, night" as the times that this insect likes to appear and roll those snowballs into the rivers.
But! And there's always a but, I've also found one indication (in one of the best guides that I've used for all my bug catching/fishing needs thus far) that says it appears from 6 AM to 5 PM. Which is, of course, contradictory with the other sources I have found.

So here I am, sitting with my DS open in front of me, my char standing, net ready, beside a snowball and waiting... waiting for a Dung Beetle to honor me with its appearance.
Unfortunately I've had no luck so far, so I'm asking you whether you know when the best time for encountering one of these mystical creatures is.
Also, it would be much appreciated if any of you knew a "strategy" of sorts to find one, as I'm not sure that just.. standing beside a snowball will do.

As Murphy's Law would want it, not 5 minutes after I made this post I found a Dung Beetle! At 6:30something AM (game time).
While the in-game description says it appears at night, I find it very strange that 6 and a half in the morning, when the town is already lit up with the sun's morning shine counts as "nighttime".
Oh well. razz
Anyways, what I did was enter a building, leave and then check on the snowballs lieing around.
The entering and leaving is probably what causes the bugs to respawn, just my theory. :3
