"So you don't want me to touch it?" he asked, feeling a little disappointed. Respecting other's space was very easy for Warren to understand and do. But in this case, his hands were itching to touch that hair. He felt like a child who could barely contain his own curiosity. When told not to do something, he just wanted to do it even more. And now, now he also wanted to know what the rest of Mr. Revnik would feel like. Were those pale hands as cold as before? And how would what lay beneath that coat of his feel? These thoughts and questions were all under pure scientific curiosity, Warren convinced himself.

Just as Warren finished off his hot chocolate, the waitress finally came back with Viktor's tea. The aroma was heavenly."We're sorry for being so slow, but we also figured you guys might've appreciated the prolonged privacy," she smiled widely, showing a set of pearl-like teeth. After setting down Viktor's cup of tea, she placed Warren's mug on her tray seeing as how he'd set it aside. Then the girl slipped a few band-aids from her apron pocket and slid them over to Warren. "For you hands, what a nasty cut!" Suppressing the feeling to fuss over an injuring, no matter how minor, she smiled cheerfully and hurried on. "See ya later, Viktor and um, Viktor's friend!"

Only then did he realize there was drying blood on the back of his hand. When the heck did that happen? How did that happen? There wasn't a single sharp thing near him in the past few hours. And at some point, he'd even spilled that hot chocolate on himself. That was just a few minutes ago... "It seems it might be just a little bit more dangerous than anticipated, but nothing's likely to happen to you." Unless it was his own doing. He dreaded that possibility the most.

Silently, the black haired man used up a few of the anti-bacterial wipes he carried in his pockets, and carefully placed the band-aids on. With all the blood, it didn't look as it did. The cut was one and half inches across, just beneath his knuckles and very shallow. The disturbing part was--other than the fact that it came out of virtually nowhere-- that there were smaller scrapes around it. Two others to be exact. Like something had scratched him. Great, more dejavu.

"I'll be fine. Nothing to worry about," the man murmured sounding so very sure. "...Do you have any cuts?" His voice had taken on an edge at the thought of hurting someone, even someone he just met. It didn't matter if it was directly or indirectly. If Mr. Revnik had even a small scratch on him, he'd leave. Or at the very least cut all contact from him.

Cuts appearing out of nowhere? That was certainly different than the strange things that happened to Viktor. But it wasn't entirely different, was it? Warren had mentioned feeling eyes watching him, Viktor felt the same ever since he had escaped. Did he ever feel as though something was going to jump out and grab him? Was he as paranoid as Viktor was about being brought back to that hell he had known for years?

He looked down at his hands, but there was nothing there. "I am alright," he assured, and looked back up at his companion. He was slowly beginning to put things together. It couldn't just be a coincidence that Warren had these things happen to him just as Viktor did. He didn't believe in coincidences anymore.

"Just... What sort of odd things happen to you?" he asked. He needed to know the answer. He needed to know if his suspicions were founded on anything.

He was glad Mr. Revnik was fine. If only he could make sure it would stay that way. Then there was the biting worry about his own body. His mental state had long ago built up defenses against the abnormal; the paranormal. But his body. It wasn't as if it could heal instantaneously or anything. That would've been a much much more useful ...ability.

Great, they were back to that subject again. "All types of odd things," Warren replied evasively. "I'd prefer not speak of it at the moment though." His eyes were scanning the little groups of people in the cafe. The majority were happily chatting with one another. None looked suspicious in the least. "Not here, at least. And... I'm really tired from my trip, so I'd like to get some rest first." This way, maybe he'd be able to summon up the courage to answer the question truthfully. And maybe in a few days he might be able to tell him the truth. Or never do it at all! That sounded even better! Hah, but judging by the looks of Mr. Revnik, not answering that question soon would be somehow very inconvenient.

"After you finish your tea, I hope we can start out," he smiled gently, though his request had the tone of an order.

Viktor would be lying if he said he wasn't disappointed that Warren had avoided the question. He was. He wanted to know if his suspicions were right. Maybe he could convince the other to tell him later, once he was rested like Warren asked. But he didn't want to push so hard that the other man ran away.

"Of course," he replied, and picked up his tea, taking a sip. "I don't mean to impose, I was merely curious. Do you think you are up to the hike? If not I can go get my truck, they have probably cleared out the roads by now."

So it wasn't that important? Maybe he could put off telling him for even longer. So long as he wasn't ask, he wouldn't offer any extra information regarding that subject, or any subjects that could be easily linked.

Since he'd gotten hurt so recently, he didn't think there'd be any extra danger in hiking up a mountainside. He'd feel even more positive if only those eyes would just leave him alone.

"I don't mind hiking. Rather not inconvenience you by making you get your truck, unless you really want to," he said, looking down at the fine lines of the table. His mind was more on how to get these new weird things to stop rather than the hike now, or even Mr. Revnik.

The mountainside was what worried Viktor the most. It was there, out in the snow, that strange things happened to him. He was a little worried that the snow would decide to rebel against his new friend. That was why he had offered to drive. They were safe if they were in his car.

"It's a long hike," he reminded him, "Two miles, and I remember you said you were a little tired from your trip up here. And I'm sure you have bags to carry. Are you sure you don't want me to drive you up?"

That was true. He did say he was tired. But he'd meant he was too tired to speak properly. Or too tired to think straight. Something like jet lag... or in his case, bus lag? Eh, it was all the same. "I'm a little worried some of your electronics might die, but if you insist... I guess I could trouble you," Warren said rather reluctantly.

Then the man pulled up the small suitcase up to show Mr. Revnik. "This is all I have on me. I'm not planning on staying very long and if I have to I figured I'd just buy more clothes," he said hugging the black stuffed little thing to his side. It was about the size of a large backpack with three days of essentials packed inside. "We can go anytime you're ready."

Viktor shrugged. Some of the electronics in his truck didn't work anyway, so he doubted he would notice the difference. "I have to go get my truck," he said, "The roads were still snowed in when I headed down here. It will probably take me about a half-hour to get there and back. Do you mind waiting that long?"

To sit here for half an hour... it didn't sound like a very fun prospect. 'Sides, he hated waiting and not doing anything. Too much of a waste of time. "How 'bout I go check out that bookstore down the street and be on the lookout for a truck stopping by in the next half hour or so?" Warren suggested, pointing in the opposite way of the mountaintop as he got to his feet. He then picked up the little luggage bag by it's black handle, gripping it tightly.

After placing a few crumpled bills on the hardwood table, he nodded to Mr. Revnik, almost in a small bow. "I'll see you then," flashing a brilliantly charming smile, the man waved to their perky waitress and left the small building. It wasn't that he was in a hurry to leave the cafe per se, more like he didn't like staying in one place for a very long time. Even one as nice as that one. And those vicious eyes... those eyes seemed to have stopped following him momentarily. Maybe whatever it was had something better to do. He could only hope.

"That works just as well," Viktor assured. He was a bit startled with how quickly the other left. It was almost as though he were trying to escape, and Viktor couldn't understand that. What was he running away from?

He pulled his wallet out of his pocket and put down enough money for his tea and a nice tip for their waitress who always gave him good service, then left the cafe. It looked like Warren was already on his way to the bookstore. Viktor was still a little confused by the other's actions, but he started back toward his cabin and tried not to think too much about it. He knew if he started to think about it he would just make himself frustrated because Warren left him with so many unanswered questions.

Warren was positively upbeat by the time he arrived at the cute bookstore on the corner street. The building was old but steady from the looks of it. The red brick was rather discolored and there were even a few chipped falling off, but the large Victorian styled windows were sparkling and magnificently framed both new and old books in an almost ethereal light. Or perhaps, and more likely, Warren was very very happy to see a bookstore filled with such an eclectic selection.

What was he doing waiting out here? Chuckling happily to himself, the man could have skipped into the building if he didn't think it would be ... inappropriate.

The lightning inside was even more marvelous. Through Warren's eyes, this was the closest he'd ever been to, to a Heaven on Earth. His heart was pumping with excitement as he approached the worn leather books in the back. Some were ancient to the point of the binding falling out and a few pages missing here and there. Sighing with contentment, the bibliophile continued to peruse the old tomes childish delight. Despite his happy demeanor, the man was looking for anything on the dark supernatural; from scientific theories on mostly fairies to any works of fiction. After he'd finis with this, Warren would move on to the Fantasy and then maybe the rest if Mr. Revnik didn't arrive too early.

It began to snow again as Viktor walked back to his cabin. It was a light snow, nothing that wound hinder his drive down and back up, at least so long as it stopped by the time Warren was in the car. The flakes spun around him in little flurries. He could deal with the weather's strange actions around him on his own, but he worried what might happen if he had someone else with him.

It took him just over twenty minutes to reach his cabin, and with a flick of his wrist the driveway was cleared and the car dug out. He climbed into the truck and turned it on, not even bothering for the heaters to warm the cab up before he started back down the mountain.

A mere ten minutes later he was back in town and pulling up in front of the book store where Warren had said he would wait for him.
